- fethiye1966: whats up with $CAM?
- henrik511: @Dan - Dan I am a little confused about your analysis of $CAM. $SLB has agreed to acquire $CAM for 0.716 SLB share and $14.40 per CAM share so from an arbitration point of view no advantage at this price. Wouldn't I be better of looking at $SLB as they are (or should be) trading in lock step with eachother?
- DAN: @henrik511 $CAM $SLB You are right, henrik511. I totally forgot about that. There is NO point in buying CAM. SLB is a different animal -- and I'd wait until it breaks out before buying. Thank you for raising that point. Totally my fault.
- henrik511: @DAN $CAM $SLB No Problem. Don't forget the $HAL and BHI merger. I think BMI is a good buy either way as the permium amounts to about $19 arbitrage and the breakup fee is $12 per share
- dkoran: $UNIS- big green bar on the one minute . I added to this for buyout talks. Also, bought common and calls on $NBL. Dr J noted unusual activity and rumors like he saw on $CAM a few weeks back before $SLB takeout offer.
- bwcarnation1: $SLB bought very small position. hasn't moved up like so many others because of its bid for $CAM yesterday, but today up on strong vol and the best company in oil field service space. low risk and will hold for long term and add more higher or lower

- davidm: $CAM @TraderVic I am curious, what did you see on 6/25 that indicated it was time to buy CAM? It looked like nothing more than a falling knife to me. - veernow: @DAN: I'm a newbie and trying to learn as much about technical indicators and analysis from you, and I really appreciate your market updates and advices in your SSs, Thank you for those. I was looking at @Cameron Intl Corp ticker $CAM , and I realized it's within a trading range, printing lower highs and lower lows. Isn't that a good example for trading with the trend? What do you think?
- marco: $CAM - @veernow, I'd be interested in hearing from a more experienced trader on this, but this chart looks like the ones I used to get sucked into and spit out like a watermelon seed (not in a good way). I used to love to trade channels, but too often I'd get pulled into a downtrend. I'd think, "Ooh, it's at a bargain price -- time to buy; then, ooh, an even better price -- time to buy more; and on and on, and pretty soon you're so far under water you can't see the surface. You said it yourself @veernow, "lower highs and lower lows. "The bottom line for me is: channels are great, but stay way from downtrends.
- marco: $CAM - Aaah, good call @scorpino. It's a nice short setup. It's ironic that I used to trade that pattern long. (That's why I jumped to that conclusion.) Thanks to @Dan and SMM I don't make that mistake anymore.

- BuffaloBill: $ABT vs, $CAM When selecting stocks to go Long, I rely on Stochastic Indicator that produces a numerical value # Stoc6 a % value of Stochastic 6 $D MA the higher the number the better. $ABT 98.25 and $CAM 0.47 - which indicates in this market $ABT is out performing $CAM by a lot. When you see a 6MA under 5.0 stay away, but watch for a turn it will make a good entry with tight stop, the lower the number the closer to support, which is never lower than Zero. Watch for change in Volume. Best Trading Hope your Christmas is LONG. Also watch the Stoc1 Todays Stochastic to confirm the Stoc6 and climb that wall of worry.
- jojo1480: $ABT vs CAM- compare apples to apples, how about $CAM vs $DRQ, fwiw
- BuffaloBill: Jojo - the comparison was to illustrate the complete opposite - That said a Stoc6 of 3 $DRQ indicates moving more sideways compared to $CAM at .23 says distribution to me.

Other oil services stocks I like are BEXP, $CAM, $CRR, $CLB (which has had a nice pullback here), $DRC and HOS. $HOS has had a nice move today.
As I mentioned yesterday, I sold $BAS going into earnings (smart move). It's had a nice bounce today t ... - bullmoose: $CAM - Consolidating at both the 20 and 50-day averages. I'm looking for firmness here to buy.
- bullmoose: $CAM, $DRC - Both are reversing hard this afternoon and continuing their move up.
- bullmoose: Miners & Oil Services - Hey everyone, thought I'd pop in on this beautiful Friday and remind everyone to get involved in some miners and oil services. They're really perking up over the past month. I think the miners are playing catch-up to the moves in the metals. I have positions in $VGZ and SLW. I just added a starter in $BVN coming out of a #squeeze. Expect a re-test at some point. I'm looking to add others. Take a look at AZK, $MHR, $GOLD, $AG, $CDE, $ANV, $AEM, $NAK and $PAL, among others. On the oil services side, $BAS has been a non-stop juggernaut for me. $CLB has been on a tear, as has OII. $CAM, $HOS, $BRY, $CRR and $DRC are looking like good buys. HEK, which I also own, is basing at the 50-day.
- bullmoose: $BVN, $BRY, HEK, $HOS, $CAM, $AG, $CDE - Wow, some real strong late day action in the stocks I threw out to the forum earlier today. Take a look. Get involved.
- steveingeneva: $CAM - At 50 week ma and prior resist may become suppt.
- didactic: $CAM oilfield valve maker With Obama announcement of opening oil leases this stock is starting to percolate
- bullmoose: $NE (brwnilocks) - Yep. Also watching $BHI, $UNT and $CAM, which are poised to break higher. I'm in BRNC and adding. And I bought $WFT yesterday.
- bullmoose: $CAM, $UNT - Almost identical looking charts coming off their lows and entering squeezes. Keep an eye on them. I'm not buying now because I see the 20-day SMA as resistance.

Dahlman Rose is initiating coverage of the oil service and equipment and land drilling sector (44.76 ) Dahlman Rose is initiating coverage of the oil service and equipment and land drilling sector and expands their coverage of the offshore contract ... - jojo1480: $CAM DRQ- the latter has been lagging, but poise to move up as it is consolidating at the 50dma, $CAM continues the upward expansion.
- jojo1480: $DRQ CAM- a couple of oil svc cos that specialize in B.O.P (valves @ the ocean floor), $CAM @52 wk hi's, $DRQ is a smaller co with more beta, I sold out of CAM@58, and took the funds into $DRQ, $BHI is in the same field as well. As oil goes up and exploration increase keep and eye on these stocks. FD- long $DRQ BHI
- jojo1480: $CAM DRQ- $CAM upgraded to a buy this morning now blowing out the upper BB, $DRQ now trading above the 50dma, and usually has a higher beta than CAM. Long $DRQ, playing it into earnings. $TCK SQM FCX- added this morning. $PVH WBC ABV- three fundamentally sound stocks that were hammered in recent week now not so, adding to $ABV and PVH. FD- long all
- jojo1480: DRQ- opened a position, the only new position today, support is defined right @50dma. Sold some $MOS, added to $AGCO position starting to #squeeze. DRQ- is in the same field as $CAM, the manufacture blow out preventers (BOP) in oil svc sector.
- jojo1480: $CAM DRQ- trading idea, I sold out of $CAM @58 earlier this wk, $GS upgraded $CAM to a "buy", pt $64. $DRQ report earnings on Feb25 (unconfirmed before market), as the price of crude goes down with hopefully the winding down of the crisis in mid east, think of buying $DRQ later in Feb. This is not a cheap stock Mkt cap $3.1B, PE 28, $PEG 1.90, short position is ~3%. wkly chart showing it stabilizing at the 20dma, and in the daily sitting on the 50dma, I would like to see this go down another 5% and pu going into earnings. FD- no position.
- jojo1480: HK- jkricha, had owned it last year, i think sold it around the 17 level. looking at the daily each time it pokes its nose above the upper BB, its rejected. I am just wary of the @zig zag pattern. would prefer to buy at the @zig, not the top part of the range. with all that said who know where nat gas is going. $AMZN back in this morning. sold $CAM, only remaining energy left in portfolio is $DO SWN COP.
- jojo1480: $CAM ISRG- $CAM finally breaking above the BB, tiny #squeeze looking for more expansion. ISRG- just like the old day fav daytrade vehicle
- TDAdams: $FTI @Dan, I was pleased to see $FTI included in the list of stocks you compiled over the weekend. I am, admittedly, an Oil Services stalker -- love this group for its outsized moves when big money gets behind it. $FTI is a long time favorite ...
- jojo1480: BA- jkricha, busy morning trading, added to $BA DO $PVH CREE $CAM FNSR (tough to add #rhrn) $SAPE, increased SLMapr13calls, sold out of $NE and V. Looks like it going to about 70def $F, get my 18holes in. Everyone have a great day. Cash level ~30-35%, I will sell/buy in equal dollar amounts.
- line: jojo $CAM mooooooooooo
- emac2north: $CAM - jojo, got into this today, my stop is at 47.95 thanks for the heads up. emac
- jojo1480: CAM- stock hit the lower BB, every time in the past it bounces up. The 50 dma is just below that less than @$1.00 away, that is your support. Going long $CAM, i did sell partial positions of stocks that had run quiet a bit to finance the new purchase. Cash levels still at ~30%.
- gregory: $CAM @jojo1480 - you are on fire <~ looks like it could end the day with a bullish #doji star?

The one exception in the energy space that I saw was $OIH which appears to be a failed breakout. The major holdings I could find for $OIH are $SLB, $BHI, $HAL, $WFT, $RIG, $DO, $NBR, $NBL, $CAM and NOV. Lots of these stocks had a down day, but mos ... - Russ: $KWK, $UPL, $HK, $REXX, $ENS, $HP, $CAM, $RDC Just clicked through 100 assorted energy stocks. Lots of interesting charts. I've done well on $SPN and IO. Still holding and waiting on XTEX. Missed ROSE. Still keeping an eye on nat gas and $CHK and SWN. Above is a short menu of some charts to consider this weekend after today's close.
- jojo1480: CIR- mentioned this stock yesterday, it looked like it was coming out of a bullish flag pattern, same industry as $CAM and DRQ. This is a small cap co., Position long $CIR CAM DRQ.
- jojo1480: CIR- opened new position, stock is in the same space as $DRQ CAM (i am long these names), daily chart stock gapped up above the upper BB and retrace the last several day, thus the formation of a flag pattern (low volume), I am in at 38.27 and set a stop loss at 37.10. Just playing this for a short pop and maybe more, lets wait and see. Long $CAM DRQ (blue sky territory) and CIR.
- jojo1480: NE- @fiddler50, biggest oil driller under contract for $PBR, go to $NE 's website they were increasing their day rates. Some of their platforms were idle. Looking for an entry point in $CAM and $DRQ these cos provide equipment for drilling and production systems, valves and measurement, and compression systems such as BOP (blow out preventers). Long $NE RIG and $SDRL (div 2.26, ylds 7.4%).
- bullmoose: $APC - I took some profits this morning and was hoping to get back in at 60. I should have jumped back in. Now I need to see what tomorrow brings. I did add to my RINO and PCX shares. I also like $CAM and may add if it continues to be strong tomorrow. I'm leaning towards trimming and going much heavier in cash before the election so I don't want to buy too much here. I can always buy after the election if the market takes it positively.

As @DAN says so often, there are many stocks working and I want to maximize my gains. Today's additions include $APC, $DQ and SBH. $MDT was a recent addition. I'm looking for a pullback to get into APKT and MDRX. $SOHU and $CAM are also on my buy li ... - bullmoose: $CAM & $CLB - Watch $CAM in the oil services space. It's in a nice volatility #squeeze, sitting on the 50-day MA. Also, keep an eye on CLB. It dumped today after earnings but has tagged the 20-week MA. In this current uptrend, that's been a great buy point. On Balance Volume is still rising.
- slowtime: $BP - @Dan, thank you for welcoming my orphan child back into the forum fold. I have been faithfully accumulating $BP through hell and high water, so that now I am looking for a rewarding time. I have several positions averaging approximately 31.60. Am looking to 45-47 on this move. @Bob Dudley is taking over this Friday. By the way, $CAM sold the BoP in 2001 to $RIG, who was supposed to maintain and care for this BoP. Thus $CAM is out of the possible liability equation. Here is the link to present and future plans. http://www.bp.com/genericarticle.do?categoryId=2012968&contentId=7065250 @slowtime
- jojo1480: $DRQ CAM- I mentioned these stocks several weeks ago, its play on the new proposed legislation regarding drilling in the GOM. These cos engineers and manufacture the use of BOP (blow out preventers), I believe the requirement is (2)/drilling sight (guessing). Long $CAM and DRQ.
- jojo1480: HK- Earnings miss this morning, SP upgraded their debt from $B to B+, stock is up 6% today, refinancing by retiring old debt and reissuing new debt at lower interest rate. Maybe this is the catalyst this dog needs. Stock been meandering along the lower BB, spiked up intrad-day to the 20dma, BB are getting squeezed. Long $HK WFT $COP DRQ $CAM RIG and PDE.
- jojo1480: $CAM DRQ- designers and manufacturers of B.O.P for compliance with perhaps the passing of drilling legislation, performing quite well up 3-5%. Long $CAM and DRQ.
- jojo1480: WFT- Before opening a new position zoom to the weekly chart, still trading below the weekly 50dma. If you look at the daily it's trading at the Upper BB, most traders would wait for a better defined support level. looking at the secondary indicators rsi stochastics obv and macd, are all strong. I think your ok here, just because this oil driller has no exposure to deep sea drilling- mostly land based in Iraq and African Continent. I usually trade this between 14-16, but for now I am holding it for the longer term. Long $WFT PDE $HK COP $CAM and $DRQ, I sold $CLB this morning. good luck. I forgot long $RIG as well.
- jojo1480: $CAM DRQ- The House of Rep. passed the offshore drilling bill, within this bill there are draconian requirements that will probably eliminate the smaller player in this field. Only big oil will benefit from this due to their great balance sheets ie ...
- smartstyle09: $CAM - @Cameron Intl. What's funny (kinda) is how they pulled the info on the BOP from their website a few days after the incident.
- BichonBob: $CAM -- several things I've read says BOP was damaged well before the blowout, by $BP operators. Their liability will be limited; $BP still toxic.
