Basis: 95.12 Stop: 86.35 I have placed the stop just a bit below the middle Bollinger Band, but you should choose your own stop based on your appetite for risk. The entire group of stocks have really solid patterns, so there is widespread institutional interest in all of the stocks we are in. (He came to mind because during it he discussed $TDW for a bit.) Below is one of the many instructive things he said during it, which is of course regularly said by you too: “To have any big winner, you have to give it some room. If you are selling it every 10% drop in a stock or even a 15% drop in a stock, you’re never gonna have a big winner because they’re all going to do that at one point or another.” https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/investing-with-ibd/id1454868999?i=1000626316655

- DAN: Active Trade Addition -- $OII Adding Oceaneering International ($OII) to the Active Trade Idea List. Basis: 21.37 Stop: 19.90 This is still somewhat in a tightening base that is starting to look like the "handle" of a bullish cup-and-handle pattern. My suggestion is that you start with a small position and a stop just below $20. We might be early, but I just want to start a position so I can keep an eye on it. --Dan For a complete list of all Active Trades, click here: https://stockmarketmentor.com/active-trades-list/
- DAN: Quick Note About the Market I have added $NTNX and $OII to the Active Trade Idea list, but I am suggesting that any positions be small ones. The market is pretty heavy and it's a mistake to think that two additions equate to a big shift in thinking. Rather, I am just looking at the patterns and setups. At this time in the market, "small or not at all" is my mantra. --Dan
- Momentariness: @DAN $NTNX $OII Could you go over the reasoning on $OII as a small buy. I see the stock moving sideways. $NTNX I can clearly see.
- DAN: @Momentariness $NTNX $OII That's a good question, momentariness. $OII is an early entry. It's not a breakout trade. I am probably a few days early on this. My view is that the 50-day moving average will hold the stock and that it should start working its way higher over the next few weeks. This is not a momentum trade, nor do I expect it to run fast. It is more of a "position trade" for exposure in the energy sector. Hope that helps. Dan

- steve71: @woodman $BRS $WG $CRR $HOS $OII $WFT #OilandGas There's a nice interplay between $CRR and equipment. Ceramics wear out pumps etc. much faster than fracking sand does. Hence, more parts, more pumps, more labor.

- champ: @steve71 $BRS $WG $CRR $HOS $OII $WFT #OilandGas - Just a little info on Ceramics...they use ceramics for wells that are deeper than 6.000 because it raises production 20%...where sand breaks down. In the U.S. 40% of the wells are at depths of 6,000 to 15,000 and 10% of the wells are deeper than 15,000. Ceramics cost more than fracking sand...that is the only reason why drillers use it. I have posted this info before....just pointing out what the difference is between ceramics and fracking sand.

They were thrown out to the forum earlier today. $DRYS is up 16%. $DSX up 7%. Brent crude has broken above resistance and oil names are working out nicely. Look at $NE, $OII, $SLB, and many more. CPNO had a nice bounce off the 20. $CQP has had a nice bounce above the mini downtrend it was in. $TEX is continuing its run. $GMCR continues to run and has broken above its gap up high after earnings. That was a buy signal. $RAX continues its breakout run. $KKR resumes its breakout run. HEK has had a heck of a move today. $ANR is breaking out of consolidation. APKT is breaking out. The paint ain't drying everywhere. You just have to find the right canvas.
- bullmoose: Who says there's nothing to buy? Yesterday a few in the forum were questioning buying after this run. I responded by requesting they look for stocks bouncing off support or breaking out and set tight stops below their purchases. Several more stocks presented such an opportunity this morning: $ALTR, $HOS, $RAX, $SBH and @Dan's $ZNGA, to name a few. $TSL is bouncing off support right now. $SOL too. $GWR is breaking out. $OII continues its breakout from yesterday. $SINA continues its breakout from a flag two days ago. $TCAP continues its breakout. Look and listen to the forum and you'll find opportunities. But you have to be quick. Bounces are happening in a matter of minutes, not hours. Then set tight stops under support or breakout levels. The longer you wait to buy, the more risk you have because the lower from your purchase price is support.
- bullmoose: $NOG and other oil producers/services (fhsavldge) - I'm cautious of the oils still. They have been very stagnant and I am underweighted. Look at the reversal on $OII today. $NOG has also reversed quite a bit from the morning pop. $HOS is my favorite and it is still holding up well. $MDR is doing well too, but I wouldn't buy more until the next pullback. $NE is another good one to consider. It popped off the 200-day today and has held up strong. Frankly, I think it could be a buy right here for a starter, looking for a move above 38.5 to 39 before it pulls back. But I'm leery of the four day move its had.
- bullmoose: HEK - I'm toning my original statement down a little. I shouldn't say I'm certainly not buying it. If it shows a bounce, it's a very low risk entry with a stop at 4.97. But, I already own a couple oil stocks with much better looking charts. $OII is breaking out today. $HOS, $MDR and $NOG look good. I see no need to catch the falling knife of a widening wedge pattern. But, if you want to take a flier on a countertrend pop, this is a low risk trade with a stop under 5. For myself, I've seen no evidence yet that it's moving up from here. It hasn't even broken above the downtrend line today. Let's see if it can get above 5.05. I'll most likely take a pass. Good luck. I hope it works out well.
- bullmoose: HEK (jojo) - What brought me into the trade was the volume on the break above 5.06. With a buy at 5.07 and a stop at 4.97, I'm not risking that much. It's now held 5 on three occasions. And the relative low is higher because it's further inside the bollinger bands. It's just a trade. Nothing more. I still like $HOS, $OII and $MDR better for longer term.
- bullmoose: $HOS (plus some thoughts on $NBL, $OII and KOG) - Added on an upgrade from hold to buy and a bounce off the 50. I also like $NBL and $OII in the oil services space. I'm not sure what to think about $KOG here. I got stopped out this morning and then it rallied back. It's pretty extended and could fall all the way to 8 or even 7 without breaking the uptrend.
