The big difference between $OIH and the others is that $OIH does not have any holdings of this sort: $XOM, $COP, $PBF, $DVN, $VLO, $OXY, $CVX, $HES, $EOG, $FANG, $APA, etc. It exclusively consists of OFS stocks. All 25 of its holdings: $SLB, $HAL, $BKR, $TS, $NOV, $RIG, $VAL, $HP, $FTI, $PTEN, $CHX, $WHD, $NEX, $LBRT, $NBR, $OII, $XPRO, $RES, $HLX, $PUMP, $WTTR, $SLCA, $DRQ, $CLB, and $OIS.
- rverkamp: $CLB looking at some of the oil and gas stocks. This one looks like it could be just getting started.
- bRobert: $CLB nh 200W date No drama daily unless short Not polite since It made it hard to get in except for small extended flags

- GOOSE: A TRADE: Taking a flyer. $CLB BTO STOCK @38.37 A little,
- spmeyers: Short candidates: I did a scan Thursday for NYSE stocks that broke below the lower bollinger band -- several dozen showed up, most of them with downsloping 200-day and 50-day, and price below those lines. Quite a few are failing after a rebound to the 50-day or so. I'm working off 1-year daily charts. A few I started that still have room to fall are $CDEV, $LITE, $MDRX, $SPB, $CLB, $CX. I'm keeping stops fairly loose. Also $ECA
- issues: @Terry $TUSK Yes I checked it out in IBD and it's in the oil services industry group 64 along with $OIS $FRAC $CLB $NOA. TUSK is rated 92 composite C+ accumulation. NP! Holding $FANG is fine at a high base - holding 1/2 position.
- ascutia833sunset: @Dan, ran one of my scans this morning and got 2 stocks that look like a DCB, $NVTR and $CLB. $NVTR looks like a better trade it closed yesterday at $17.38 with a low of $14.21.
- DAN: @ascutia833sunset $NVTR $CLB Good on both of them.
- ascutia833sunset: @DAN $NVTR $CLB , Bought $NVTR close to the open, looked like the better trade. Sold $ELF this morning for a small profit.
- DAN: @ascutia833sunset $NVTR $CLB $ELF Nice job. Those didn't work very well...but we don't get to decide how well the trade works. We just have to manage it. 8-) Dan
- ascutia833sunset: @DAN $NVTR $CLB $ELF , I'm still holding $NVTR, I have a little over 6% profit, I'll most likely close out of this before the close or if it starts to sell off. I bought $NVEE yesterday, bought it at $70.15 with a tight stop on it at $68.65.
- ascutia833sunset: @DAN $NVTR $CLB $ELF, I closed my position before the close on $NVTR, I got out just under the high for the day at $18.59 for a gain of 4.70%. Not bad for a couple hours, Thanks Dan
- issues: @Bridget $TUSK #ipo Thank you Bridget. I like this sector (IBD industry group 10 - exceptionally good). In this group are the following: $MDR $ERA $KEG $CLB $SLB. $SLB & $CLB. $SLB & $CLB are well known as well as $MDR. The others I don't know. $TUSK? Where did you find this one? $MDR possibly is forming the bottom of a cup...?

- champ: $CLB at $123.2...no real volume - Fell back this morning.....new position Spec day trade would like to swing. This stock has great free cash low....should bounce....but I'm only guessing.
- stevef214: $OIH oil services moving up today, $HP, $CLB, $WFT
- champ: @stevef214 $OIH $HP $CLB $WFT - Yes, and $CLB is another good pick. I didn't think about this one....NP but now watching.
- stevef214: @champ $OIH $HP $CLB $WFT yeah I had a bid in for WFT and CLB this morning but they got away from me. If rig count con't to increase then these should move for awhile
- stevef214: @Ajax4Hire $OIH $XOP $SLB $HAL $NOV $BHI $SM $SWM $WPX $CLR $QEP $WLL I think oil services is moving because the rig count has moved up. These ad lagged the XOP but it makes sense that they would not go up until the E&P's started to drill more. $CLB is another one moving
- champ: @stevef214 $OIH $HP $CLB $WFT - I'm in $CLB now and yes I'm chasing...this is a spec day trade now but I would like to swing part...however, my stop could takes me out. On rig count #'s... you know that $BHI releases those #'s every Friday around noon.....so if the price of WTI Oil holds up this week... this sector could climb or at least hold up until Friday. I saw in the PM on Bloomberg or maybe it was on CNBC where OPEC raised some oil prices over the weekend but I can't find that news anywhere yet but still looking....I have both on without sound in the PM every morning for news and I read the news captions as they stream.
- stevef214: @champ $OIH $HP $CLB $WFT $BHI Yes, I check or at least read the $BHI rig count. I see they now have an app you can download to get the rig count. I guess, as you, I should have them on my watch list for oil services. LOL
- jarch1: $CLB has a double bottom a year apart and appears to want to go higher. Options on it are not liquid. Any other opinion would be welcome
- cmac: @jarch1 $CLB I'm not an options trader, but from a stock perspective it's right at $100 resistance, and trading at top of BBs. I would say the probabillity of rhrn bullish action is limited, especially with oils pullback today. fwiw, I sold out of my oil positions in $HES and $XOM today, but will look for re-entry.
- Jorma: $LULU $CLB - using today's spikes up to let go of a big loser, $LULU, and take some profits on $CLB. I would not be rushing in to buy anything today before the Fed speaks tomorrow.
- FHS: @Jorma @Dan$LULU $CLB Question, my east and west coast oracles. What do we expect to hear from the Fed other than the anticipated, and I think definite, rate hike, that would move the market one way or the other? I mean, we know for certain that the ...
- DAN: @FHS $LULU $CLB #Off Oh, I seriously have no idea what the Fed is going to say. They are such wild cards that they've morphed into a sitcom. "Grandma Yellen Goes to Washington." I have absolutely no clue what they could say and won't even hazard a guess. But I know it will be said with a calm, matronly voice that will make many here feel comfortable and secure. Try putting something in that coffee. It calms the nerves. :-)
- FHS: @DAN $LULU $CLB #Off I have been putting "something" in my coffee! The bigbartabs remedy for markets like this. I think that's the problem. Maybe I need a higher "proof." The Fed. Rate hikes a given. So I just don't understand what else anyone's looking for. It's all been about the rate hike for the last two centuries: will they or won't they, will they or won't they...and the market acts according to the speculation. But speculation is off the table now. We know. Anyway, I'll stay tuned for the sitcom. Should be amusing. Cheers.
- DAN: @FHS $LULU $CLB #Off bigbartabs has a very refined liquid trading methodology. Gives new meaning to the term "liquidity". :-)
- FHS: @DAN $LULU $CLB #Off Indeed!
- FHS: @Jorma #Yellen "one of my majors?" Hell, I couldn't even spell magor, let alone have one. Tarry thou still with $CLB? Drillers not appearing hale or hearty today. Cheers.
- Jorma: @FHS $CLB - I wasn't trying to brag, sorry if it came off that way. As for $CLB, yes, still with small position, and to cushion the gradual decline, I sold Dec 120 calls, so i'll either keep the premium if they expire, or the stock gets called away above my cost basis. If the former, I'll then sell more upside calls. Hope your Thanksgiving was peaceful, cheers, my friend!
- FHS: @Jorma $CLB Gosh no! I loved the treatise, on both language and stocks. I, too, am holding a small position in $CLB, but with no fancy option plays. Not smart enough for those yet. And similar sentiments back at you regarding Thanksgiving. It was indeed peaceful, and for an extra bonus we had snow in the Sierra; an unusual sight these days. Cheers.
- FHS: @Jorma $XOM $CLB Would it be an understatement to heed the mantra, "wait for confirmation," before dipping into those stocks that are testing key averages or support--this is rhetorical. For myself, primarily. $XOM comes to mind. At the 50ma., as were a few others that blew right through a key average before I could even figure out where to place a stop. Fortunately, all small positions. By the way, still holding a "small" position in $CLB. At the moment it doesn't want to fund my purchase of Bond Patriarch. Are you still in? Interesting confluence of 200ma and 50ma, the former piggybacking the latter. Cheers.
- FHS: @Jorma $PANW $CYBR $FEYE $DDD $SSYS $HACK #Cybersecurity Moi aussi. Stopped out on FEYE this morning. Took profits and ran. Now looking closely a $CLB. I don't think it wants me to own some Bond at the moment. Seems dismissive of our "phase." Looking at 18. Oops, I think it's getting there. Cheers.
- Jorma: @FHS $CLB - $SPX pulling back today, looks like 2060 ish in the cards, not a great day to buy, although I started a position in $CLB, which looks like it is entering a phase III. Try Bond for your wine cellar, their Matriarch is a blend that is quite good, their individual vineyards such as Pluribus are unbelievable, but expensive. I am taking some $CLB at 120, next target 126, that could improve your cellar. Cheers!
- FHS: @Jorma #Thanks $CLB In! #Off topic. Had to look up Bond. New to me. Will look to add it to my dwindling cellar should I prosper from the trade. Interesting also that you mention "hydronephrosis." My latest cat scan (hernias and abrasions from the colectomy and take-down colostomy of three years ago) revealed the possibility once again. No action needed according to my urologist. Congenital perhaps. Anyway, it's good to have a physician among us. Cheers.
- Jorma: @FHS $CLB #Thanks #Off - "Try the wine..."
- Jorma: $SLB $HAL $CVX - first two pulling back, $HAL reports next week, both look tempting on daily charts, but not rhrn, am waiting to see them fall further, $CVX hanging in, reinitiated small long stock position today, also STO $CVX Nov 85 puts @1.45, would be willing to accept assignment if they expire ITM. Also eyeing $CLB, yet to report earnings.

- Jorma: @woodman $SN - I've only been trading $SN of late, with some $VLO stock and long calls/short puts, as well as short some $CLB puts. The #oil still seems to me like it will turn down any second, but perhaps that's why it won't...
- Jorma: $CLB - was beaten down, has been in one of the tightest VS's I've ever seen, now breaking out into Phase I.
- Jorma: $CLB - now positive for the day, likely represents a low risk entry for long stock or calls, short puts, I have the latter two (the long calls were prior to recent demise, will take time to recover).
- Jorma: $CLB - getting punished today for early revision of 2nd quarter and yearly guidance. The projections still sem robust to me, they are not losing market share, I bought Jun 160 calls for 5.00, cureently trading at 154. I think this will be seen as an over-reaction in what is a best of breed company in the enrgy space.
- rj7150: $CLB - Possible 59 minute trade - watching
- Jorma: @Forexpro $CLB - Good morning, Forexpro. Yes, my mental stop here is the 150d ma, around 141 now, which has been support as far back as 11/12. I expect today's price to stabilize around 150, if it closes below that today, I may be in for some trouble!
- rj7150: $CLB - Nice move into the close.
- bullmoose: $CLB - Bought back the shares I sold before earnings with a stop below the morning low. Nice bounce off the 50-day.
- Jorma: @bullmoose $CLB - Although I have traded CLB in past, and story had been good, earnings and outlook were disappointing, why dod you think it is worthwile to buy now? Don't you think it will at least trade down again in next hour?
- bullmoose: @Jorma $CLB - I bought within 5 minutes of the open. That made my risk very low. It bounced off the 50-day. If I'm wrong, I don't lose much. I placed a stop at 194.77.
- bullmoose: $CLB - Stopped out. Small loss. No problem. Now I can move on to my other oil stocks like $COG, $KOG, $XCO, $OAS, $PDCE and $HFC.

- SierraJW: $FTK, $CLB @vazv I had been in $ERF for a long time. Thanks for the heads up on the others, I will check them out tomorrow. I am not trading much right now, waiting to see what the market direction is, unless I see a great opportunity with a ticker that has at least 5-7% gain with low risk in the mean time.
- bullmoose: $KOG, $FANG, $CLB - Three oil stocks that have done well during the pullback and continue their moves today. I added to KOG and should have added to my FANG calls, but got greedy on my entry price.
- awalke2: $CLB bouncing off rising channel support line connecting lows since January. Added to position today.
- bullmoose: $WLL - Breaking out of a loose #squeeze from a high base. It's significantly above the 50-day, so I'm not expecting a major move, but it is working. I have no position because I'm already long $CLB, $HFC, $KOG and $PSX in the oil space.
- Jorma: $CLB - continues to climb, now breaking 200 for second time, trading at 201.58. All-time high is 206.42, made 7 trading days ago.
- Jorma: $CLB - breaking out of a flag, now over 202.
- bullmoose: $CLB - forming a high base after a long consolidation. This has been a long-time holding that's done very well for me.
- Jorma: $CLB @bullmoose - similarly for me, and on weekly chart it is coming out of a bit of a vol #squeeze, has previous high of 199.48. I have target of >200 if breakout continues. Fundies of this company are strong, it is well positioned for a sector that is turning to maximizing extraction from hard to reach sites, previously drilled well, etc.
- bullmoose: $CLB - Keep an eye on this long-time favorite of mine. It's trying to break out of a 5-month consolidation and a #squeeze in a high base on the weekly chart. Look for a break above 196 and a close above 194.2.
- Jorma: Markets - yesterday, I posted chart showing 1780 ish for last support, questioned double bottom, and primarily sold into yesterday's strength, with only new position going long $CLB stock that had pulled back. Well, today, on the open, we will test that possible double bottom, and I believe we will be going to 1750-1760, whether there is sufficient emerging market instability to merit this or not. Looking at the daily and weekly charts of the SPX, objectively it just looks like it is rolling over, so I will remain very cautious, and remember that this, too, shall pass.
- muranaka1: $CLB -reported good earnings wednesday and sold off >5% today. Took a small position with a stop below intra day low. This stock have historically sold off on earnings and eventually moved higher.
- Jorma: $CLB - took starter position in this great company, have traded it many times, now getting punished despite good quarter, if it pulls back I'll add, if it goes higher I'll add, nice to start down 5%.
- Jorma: $CLB - breaking to upside of vol #squeeze right now on 5 min chart.
- janpaus: $UA $CLB and $GOOG are all in a Phase II of a VS break out on the 5 minute chart
- sfuller: $CLB @ Jorma. Thanks for the heads up!

- bullmoose: $COG, $CLB and ARWR- I like these two oil services stocks (CLB and COG), especially their weekly charts. I've held $CLB for a long time. @DAN just peaked my interest in $COG recently. Today's opening push was a good buy point after bouncing off the 200-day yesterday. Random note, $ARWR is making a nice move today. I bought some near the open. - Jorma: $CLB - does anyone else find this attractive at 103, down 15%, despite the downward guidance?
