  • bigbartabs: @Henry $BUD $TGT $VFC $KSS ... I remember when I was in junior high, during the dawn of "hippies"... my parents constantly talking about how much they could not believe what was happening to our USA (understandable, since my dad who lied about his age and joined the navy in 1942 at 16, spending his entire hitch in the Pacific on an aircraft carrier). What he and mom were then shocked by, could not be even be fathomed today by either. I guess there is benefit for not living longer than one life time.
  • Henry: $BUD $TGT $VFC $KSS While you can't believe anything you see on the news or social media, it doesn't mean it's not true. Still, after the Target and Bud Lite massacres, would you expect $KSS to market Baby Pride Bodysuits? NO WAY, that would be stupid, and yet they are. https://www.kohls.com/product/prd-5977065/baby-sonoma-community-pride-bodysuit-set.jsp?prdPV=1

  • Lou: @AndStars $BUD $TGT $VFC - personally, I don't miss any of them. Never liked $TGT, wouldn't miss $VFC as long as LL Bean can meet my needs, and take solace in Guiness on the loss of $Bud.
  • bigbartabs: @Henry $VFC $TGT ... what surprises the hell out of me is how these CEOs, Board of Directors, Corporate officers get caught up in this mess, with advertising, pandering, etc... when the estimated LGBTQ population in the entire USA is 3.8% (as per Wikipedia). That is some serious poor management and decision making if you ask me. If I would have made decisions like that during my career... as 1 of 4 US regional managers in the US... I would have been on the street post haste!
  • joelsg1: @bigbartabs $VFC $TGT It's not the numbers, it's the discretionary spending power of LGBT and supporters that I suspect influenced chase for the next incremental dollar.
  • Lou: @bigbartabs $VFC $TGT - your 3.8% stat doesn't take into account families of LGBTQ%2B individuals and generally liberal supporters. IMO the families and supporters goose up the statistics considerably. That said, there are lines that should not be crossed by either side and the most flagrant one is using children to support an agenda.
  • vitoB: @joelsg1 $VFC $TGT it also doesnt necessarily have to anger the other 96% of us
  • joelsg1: @vitoB $VFC $TGT Too many angry, stupid people around, life is too short to be enraged over and over by BS.

  • Forexpro: Re: $VFC Hi, Friends, Not one I've ever traded, and it hasn't received a mention in the Forum in the past year, but it's in the news this morning. Usual (non-crypto) stuff; earnings forecast cut, CEO out, etc. Smacked fairly hard in the pre-, but it appears to be making an effort to stabilize. Mildly curious to see if 30 can hold. All the best! P.S. $WYNN, $MGM and $LVS are all benefiting from hopes that China's restrictions will be easing. According to MarketWatch.com some analyst from an outfit I've never heard of upgraded $MGM this morning. I'm neither less nor more excited. I've owned $LVS from time to time over the years, without any particular success.
  • phgruver: @Momentariness $VFC Welcome back! ...but be careful, this is still a very dangerous market! You've nailed the reason why I have stayed around, so long, even though my style of investing/trading is totally different from most forum participants. The insights, the lessons and the reminders are worth the price of the subscription, even if I never take a single one of @Dan's trades. (I've actually taken a number of @Dan's trades. Made money on a few, lost money of a few.) It's the lessons on risk management, picking YOUR entry, and knowing when to get out that are so valuable.

  • Forexpro: @bsnceo $KSS $ANF $ABBV $ENR $ILG $LAZ $LMT $STX $TGT $VFC $SPY $BBT $MXIM $RBA Hi, Bsnceo, I'm surprised by the red bar today, but I'm seeing no news of any kind. I suppose that there are levels where prospective buyers are less interested than are profit taking sellers, and $ILG appears to have reached one. With that said, I'm still made a little cautious inasmuch as this is happening on a day that's strong overall for the market. The chart remains strong, but this may be one of those "shots across the bow" that Dan mentions from time to time. We'll see how it goes, and how the volume looks at the close; all the best!

  • Forexpro: @optionswealth $ABBV $ENR $ILG $LAZ $LMT $STX $TGT $VFC $SPY $BBT $ADBE Thanks, Optionswealth, Thanks for the input. Did you mean to reply to me? I do own a bit of $ADBE, but I don't think that I've mentioned it in the Forum since June, or thereabouts. Parenthetically, this is an unusual circumstance, in that the stock pulled way back - to the 61.8 percent level from the previous high to the pivot low - and has now made it back to within whispering distance of the recent top at 204.45. Normally, a drop of that magnitude would lead to a lower high, and then a break into a downtrend; the stock has shown pretty impressive strength. Here's hoping that you're enjoying a great weekend; all the best!
  • optionswealth: @Forexpro $ABBV $ENR $ILG $LAZ $LMT $STX $TGT $VFC $SPY $BBT $ADBE I was analyzing both $ABBV and $ADBE and replied ADBE to you and ABBV in general to the forum. LOL
  • sierramp: @Forexpro $SPY $VFC #DAN #DAN I like your suggestion to have the beta of your own portfolio. I am anal when it comes to performance numbers so I had all of the numbers that @Dan said we need to have but nope, I didn't have your beta! Good idea.
  • optionswealth: @Forexpro $ABBV $ENR $ILG $LAZ $LMT $STX $TGT $VFC $SPY $BBT $ADBE has an upturning histogram and indicator line but how much more room it has to grow depends on how far above its 200 day sma it can be expected to move. 30% above is ~209 and 40% above is ~225. It is now trading at ~201. ADBE has declining volume.
  • Forexpro: Re: $VFC Good Morning, Friends, $VFC is one of the stocks that came up in last weekend's "Modified Minervini" scan, but I expect that it will be coming off in the course of this one. It is reacting not at all well to its earnings report. Courtesy of StreetInsider.com: V.F. Corp. (NYSE: VFC) reported Q4 EPS of $1.01, $0.01 worse than the analyst estimate of $1.02. Revenue for the quarter came in at $3.6 billion versus the consensus estimate of $3.66 billion. From Theflyonthewall: 07:03 EDT Reports Q4 revenue $3.65B, consensus $3.66B. Q4 gross margin improved 130 basis points to a quarterly record high of 51.5%. The stock is currently off 5.53 percent, as the Street appears to be unimpressed by that gross margin improvement. Best of luck today!
  • Forexpro: Re: $VFC Hi, Friends, Just for kicks, took some $VFC, which got crushed pre-open, at 73.50, out now at 75.72. Didn't catch either the bottom or the top, but an okay six or so minutes. Here's hoping that your day is off to a good start; all the best!
  • jan2138: @Forexpro $VFC Wow, you really are a day trader.
  • Forexpro: @jan2138 $VFC LOL, Jan2138, I've apparently been infected on the equity side by my exertions in the futures, but this seemed like a good opportunity to put "The 59 Minute Trader" to work. I'll have to apologize to Dan for leaving 53 minutes on the table. :) Hope you're doing well; thanks as always for the informative updates! P.S. And, as it turns out, I left at least a couple of bucks on the table, as well as some time. 'Twas ever thus (sigh).
  • Forexpro: Re: #E-miniFutures, etc. Good Evening, Friends, Not that it means much, but at this hour (10:24, EST) the E-minis are up 10 and change. For most of us, that's preferable to being, say, 10 lower. I also found myself seized by curiosity, and went back to check the betas of the 8 stocks that I prosed on about over the weekend. The average is 1.18, so a portfolio comprised of equal dollar amounts of these stocks (($ABBV, $RNT, $ILG, $LAZ, $LMT, $STX, $TGT, and $VFC) will be considerably more volatile than the market as a whole. It will be expected to outperform on "up" days for the broad market, and (gulp) underperform on those rare down days. :) Take care, and all the best!

There have been a lot of good suggestions in the forum today and over the past few days. $FSLR and $SCTY are just starting moves. Many of the retail names have already left the station, but look for entries in names like $JCP, $BBY, $MIK, $TGT, $NKE, $DECK, $VFC, $TIF, $SVU, $ULTA, $SBH, $COH, $PVH, $LOCO. There are too many bio names to throw out here, but I'm having success with $ARWR, $ISIS and $NBIX. A few others are consolidating. Networking/social stocks are also in the early phases of perking up. Stocks like $FB, $YHOO, $MOBI, $HIVE, $VIP, $MBLY and many more I haven't mentioned are working. Then there's $BIDU, which is killing me. ;0[

But, their P/S of 6.35 and their P/B of 12.10 is high, only exceeded by $VFC P/B of 34.55. But, a PEG 1.25 and ROE of 47% are truly stellar and are important factors for me in any long term hold. I can't find a better retailer than $KORS for a long term hold. .Thanks very much for your reply.
  • jmat2413: #LongTermPortfolio: I call this my "is what it is" shopping list because all of these stocks have gone up more than 20% per year over the last 1, 2, 3, and 5 years. They are all in the SP-500. I eliminated some which I noticed had 50% or greater pullbacks. Now I need to whittle this down to something manageable, say 10 to 20 stocks. Any additional screening ideas would be appreciated. $FMC, $PPG, $ECL, $TWC, $CMCSA, $UA, $VFC, $TJX, $BWA, $M, $NKE, $MHK, $PCLN, $WYN, $VIAB, $DIS, $CBS, $GCI, $HOG, $WYNN, $ORLY, $CCE, $STZ, $TSN, $HRL, $PXD, $EQT, $OKE, $AMP, $MA, $DFS, $AXP, $V, $TMK, $GILD, $ALXN, $BIIB, $CELG, $REGN, $ACT, $MYL, $PRGO, $AET, $MCK, $ABC, $DAL, $MHFI, $FISV, $ADS, $MCO, $EFX, $ROK, $AME, $PLL, $HON, $PCP, $UNP, $TYC, $SNA, $SNDK, $CERN, $CRM, $NI, $PNR
  • janpaus: $COST $VFC Interesting that two retailers are up today in this tape.
  • janpaus: $VFC - Up over 3% today. Finally back up above its 4:1 split price on December 23rd.

  • greberalan: $VFC @ micaelH $VFC $56.24 looks to be at the 100DMA $56.31 and support(maybe). Before I am jumping into $VFC, I would like to see if support holds here. Because the next support level seems to be maybe around the $52/$51 area. But use a good stop here and I don't see a problem with taking maybe a 1/3 or 1/2 position here. I might do the same.
  • janpaus: $VFC - This has been one of my favorite holdings (long term) over the years. It is actually my oldest holding dating back to Dec. 2008. Up over 315% and pays a decent #dividend. Have sold off tranches over the years to rebalance as the position got too large, over 5% is my rule to take profits. Added to my position today based on the weekly charts. Still works. Good buy point on the daily chart. But my time frame is longer term than most in this forum.
  • janpaus: $VFC - Looks to be climbing out of its hole over 57 now.

  • Neil375: DDS- Good Morning everyone. Did some scans yesterday and a few stocks came up I though were worth watching. Here's a few stocks looking like they are popping out of a #squeeze besides the ones mentioned recently: $DDS, $NDAQ, $SLXP and RDWR. Here's a few that look like they are being accumulated with volume at least twice the average: $PII, $IPXL, $CW, $VFC, and TXT. Just sharing information. Hope everyone has a prosperous day.
  • ginny: $VFC 4/1 split. Let's see if it can hold the split price. Long stock but watching.
  • dmgrevas: $VFC - Bearish engulfing right at trend line. Any thoughts on whether to buy or not? Thx/@Denise

1.must be a holder of record by the 10th to get the 4 for 1 shares.
But that isn't why you want it.
    2. The 1 year returns 49%/3year returns 202% but that isn't why you want it either.

  • bybyjanice: UNG: Larger draw down in Nat gas supplies. Breaking above the 200dma which was resistance in the past. $CHK is looking perky too. When I am not inside near the heater, I will want to be wearing one of @deBeers $VFC jackets. Last night we had our first dip below 32 degrees.
