- woodman: $VET - move above resistance, and making of right side of bowl, continues.
- woodman: $VET - Making a nice right side of the bowl with plenty of room to move higher. It's been trading above the 200d since 8/29, and the 50d is just about to cross above the 200d. Yesterday it was strong with a close above its recent double (triple) top area yesterday (from 8/9 to current). Today, it pulled back to test that "breakout" level and held it. It's a little extended on the daily (perhaps), but longer term view shows good potential still despite a 40-plus% move already off the bottom of the bowl.
- woodman: $VET - Making the right side of a bowl. Strong weekly chart since start of June. On the daily, it's back above the descending 200d, with ascending 50d about to cross above the 200d. It's getting a little extended on the daily chart, but worth keeping an eye on.

I was recently looking at $VET. They have been taken out back for a beating by the markets along with the rest of O&G stocks. However, they are listed as the leader of its industry group on IBD, but the industry group happens to be the very wors ... - Henry: @AndyG $VET I'll bet these options were purchased when the stock was a lot higher. Why I have no idea, maybe it was a hedge by someone with a big stock position. There is very little open interest in April. I see a headline from Bloomberg claiming they will cut their dividend in half. Yes you should look at OI, Volume, the volatility and the spread. A large spread makes them untradeable, if you have to buy on the ask and have to sell on the bid if you decide you are wrong, You could take a 20-30% hit on a big spread, without any change in stock price. That there is no bid on a 5 cent option should be no surprise. In this market why cover if you are short and nobody is going to buy one as a lottery ticket.

1. This is absolutely a chart trade. The fundamentals don't matter in this case because the stock is so extended. - Forexpro: @AndyG $VET Hi, AndyG, Just following up on the conversation re: $VET this morning, there was decent action in the options today. According to ToS, most of the interest was in the Jun series. Of the calls, 41 percent were sold at or below the bid, so definitely a short or closing a long; only 15 percent were at or above the offer, so definitely a buy, either to go long or to close a short. The other 41 percent traded between the bid/ask, so tough to tell. There was a large trade of 1,257 Sep 12.50 calls sold for 2.55 in a 2.55/2.85 market. The delta was 52, the implied vol on the trade 144 percent. Actual (historical, realized) vol in the past twelve months has ranged from 22.7 to 63.2. Yeah, why wouldn't you sell 'em at 144?
