- indigo1948: $GEO - just read that this is now Michael Burry's Scion Fund's only holding: Michael Burry’s Scion Asset Management jettisoned 11 US equities in the second quarter and ended the period with just one. The hedge fund exited positions including Alphabet Inc. and Facebook parent Meta Platforms Inc., while adding private-prison operator Geo Group Inc., which was Scion’s only long stock holding as of June 30, according to a regulatory filing Monday. Obviously he has a significant following - Scion held 501,360 shares of Boca Raton, Florida-based Geo Group, which surged 11% to $7.60 on Monday, extending its gain since the end of the second quarter to more than 15%.
- joelsg1: @indigo1948 $GEO Pretty easy to trigger a short squeeze in a microcap stock with significant short interest and small float, but this guy had 1 good call 14 years ago which propelled him to movie stardom and wrong ever since. Even my broken grandfather clock is correct twice each day.

(NYSE:GEO) are soaring Wednesday morning and many believe Reddit traders are driving the rally. They have targeted it because it has a short interest of almost 50%. As these shorts buy their shares back, it could drive the price higher and that’s what appears to be happening here. There’s a good chance the stock runs into resistance if it gets to the $8.25 level. Back in March, when shares reached this level, they ran into a wall of sellers. Sometimes a particular level may be important for extended periods. That’s why people say markets have memories. There may still be a large concentration of sellers at the $8.25 level.

This happen today in NH, at 2:30 ET, because they have a huge problem their or had. These are Drug Related stocks...$INSY, $CAH $ABC $BDSI $DEPO $OPNT $$PCRX and these related prison stocks $CXW $GEO. He also talked about making it a crime for Doctors and Pharmacist, who don't follow the laws and some Doctors overprescribe the drugs. This has been talked about for years also...many are dying because of these drugs.

They do not increase or decrease the value of the overall holding just the individual share price. So 100 shares at $1 ($100 total) after a 3-2 split is 150 shares at $.67. ($100 total)

They may do some mental health detention centers but know they are really a prison stock that got hammered under The Obama admin decision to end private Jails because they were keeping people locked up to make money. Under Trump he sees no conflict of interest so the stock has done very well since the election and the Trump Admin decision that private jails are just fine with them. I mention this so you know what you are buying if you are interested. I made a lot of money shorting this stock after the Justice Dept decided to end their relationship with these Private Jails because of their practices..

What attracted me to $CXW and $GEO was that they are in the same business and during the dump there were times when one was trading while the other was halted. I watched for the move in $GEO while $CXW was halted. You posted at just that moment and $GEO was moving up so I used that as a tell to enter $CXW when it resumed. I covered half in mid 15s and the rest below 17. I will post more opportunities in the future.

- scottto: @Aragorn - I created an interesting scan in StockCharts that looks for stocks with the following characteristics: 1) Recent 50-day low. 2) Recently increased volatility. 3) Close > 8-day EMA 4) todays 8-day EMA higher than 3 days ago 8-day EMA (arbitrary on the 3 days, could have chosen yesterday, last week, etc..) 5) Close > $5 (don't want the zillion penny stocks that these screens always pull out). 6) 20-day average volume greater than 500,000 (again don't want the illiquid collection that these screens always pull out). Here's the results: $AOL $AXS $CYH $DF $DHI $GGP $GEO $HOV $VVR $EMLC $MDC $MTH $SEAS $SE $TOL $VRA Some decent looking possibilities in there. They make large engines that run on natural gas, for all types of vehicles, tractors for hauling freight,are converting over to this type of system. The company all so has a 50/50 deal with Cummings engine, for the develoment of a fuel injection systems,so engines can run on natural gas. Just a idea. $GEO

- JamesLutfy: Trading Idea - Private Corrections - $GEO, $CXW, $CRN, Although unconventional, I think this could actually be a very profitable play. They save money for the government and take stress off the overcrowded prisons we already have. By looking at the charts, these companies appear to be pretty strong. Despite the fact some interest groups are against these prisons, I don't see state governments pulling funding from these corporations because if they do they will need to come up with the money from somewhere to operate these prisons. This is something we all know they can't do cause they are broke. You definitely have to leave your politics at the door with this one though. lol.
