  • scottrades: Some Earnings to be aware of this week: $NVDA $WMT $BABA $HD $ZIM $TSN $TGT $SNDL $SE $PANW $AMAT $MNDY $LOW $CSCO $JD $M $TSEM $SBLK $DNUT $YOU $FREY $TJX $KSS $NU $BJ $JAGX $FL $DNA $ESEA $IMCC $BITF $IMPL $AKTS $OTLY $CAN $NOVN $AAP $NTIC $QFIN $ACM $SONO $FTCH $TME
  • Docoof: @JKI $zim As you said, a lot of shippers taking a hit today: $PANL $SB $GRIN $EGLE $GNK $SBLK $ESEA $GOGL There doesn’t seem to be any news that suggests why. Alas, no insight. [Edit: See Henry’s post. 😬]
  • Henry: @Docoof $zim $PANL $SB $GRIN $EGLE $GNK $SBLK $ESEA $GOGL The Baltic Dry Index has fallen 25% in just over 2 weeks.
  • JKI: @Henry $zim $PANL $SB $GRIN $EGLE $GNK $SBLK $ESEA $GOGL Thanks for the information, much appreciated!
  • sgiseller: @Henry $zim $PANL $SB $GRIN $EGLE $GNK $SBLK $ESEA $GOGL getting ready for war in the baltic?
  • snowbound: $ESEA is also at the bottom of its channel which , BTW ... was not being recommended as a buy as of yesterday ... long DAILY wedge ... the charts tell no tales is my persuasion ...
  • snowbound: $ESEA A shipper at the bottom of a LONG DAILY wedge ( see others for fundamental case )
  • woodman: @snowbound $ESEA - I'm not so fond of $ESEA but some other #shippers showing some life at interesting spots. $GRIN $EGLE (long both of those); also $DSX $CMRE $GSL $PANL $CTRM (np in any of them).
  • snowbound: @woodman $ESEA $GRIN $EGLE $DSX $CMRE $GSL $PANL $CTRM #shippers Well thank -you , Sir . If that should change I'll be all ears .
  • snowbound: @woodman $ZIM I got small on Friday with the close . $ESEA is also about to test the bottom of its wedge .
  • Pokersmith: @snowbound $ZIM $ESEA imho...and this is ONLY imho.... this ship has sailed. ( ref: ZIM )
  • snowbound: @Pokersmith $ZIM $ESEA I've been watching those charts for that reason . You can see $ESEA did not complete its channel upward move last leg ... something changed . Resolution is still unclear . thanks for your view , Will
  • woodman: @snowbound $ZIM $ESEA - ESEA has more to drop to hit its support line of this wedge. Current support is about 26. Draw a line connecting bottoms from: 12/15-20 connecting 2/24 and then 3/15 and extend to current which would be ~26.
  • snowbound: @woodman $ESEA I'm following you .... ( yes , you are right ) ... its the long wedge in the chart I posted and its so far holding in my view . thank -you for everything , Will .... I was more hoping for a break through the top of the wedge .
  • snowbound: @woodman $ZIM $ESEA The 200SMA DAILY serves my purpose ... I'm not trying to call a bottom just gauge where its heading . thank -you !
  • snowbound: $ESEA I adjusted some lines and this is what we're discussing with THE ( one and only ) woodman ... the lines aren't perfection but note the long wedge base seeking resolution near the present apex area
  • snowbound: $ESEA Is testing the 200SMA DAILY RHRN with some tail wick recovery . $ZIM is our relative canary in the coalmine chart
  • snowbound: @woodman $ESEA While I see you here , what are your thoughts on this please ?
  • woodman: @snowbound $ESEA - I sold it a few days ago and I don't think much of where it is right here, which is to say middle of the wedge. I'm still in $PANL $GRIN and $EGLE, and I bought $ZIM on the considerable post ex-div-pullback. ZIM seems to me to be in a nice spot here pulling back and holding the 50 day. Low risk buy with good potential to move higher. EGLE may be a sell here, but I'm still holding. It's testing resistance at 69 after a nice run from last pullback where I bought it (around 59).
  • snowbound: @woodman $ESEA $PANL $GRIN $EGLE $ZIM I am interested in how this wedge may eventually break in a swing move . I may ask again in time . thank -you
  • snowbound: @woodman $ESEA $PANL $GRIN $EGLE $ZIM I'm getting these all on a list . gratitude $ZIM looks like a potential entry now with the confidence of the FORUM .
  • woodman: @snowbound $ESEA $PANL $GRIN $EGLE $ZIM - ESEA is "drifting" right now. Bottom of wedge is around 26. Top is around 34. Current price 29.
  • snowbound: $ESEA Long chart wedge setup in play ...
  • snowbound: $ESEA Is testing the 50SMAd in a long base setup
  • woodman: @bRobert $GOGL - #Shippers have done me well. I currently have a bouquet of them - $ZIM (bought on the ex-div pullback) $GRIN $PANL $EGLE $ESEA.
  • bRobert: @woodman $GOGL $ZIM $GRIN $PANL $EGLE $ESEA #Shippers these are the only cruises I would book
  • woodman: @bRobert $GOGL $ZIM $GRIN $PANL $EGLE $ESEA #Shippers - Rising tide lifts all boats.
  • snowbound: $ESEA Long DAILY wedge is beginning to tighten . This is now in an interim probability zone above the 50SMAd and below descending resistance ~ 34- level . WEEKLY roughly suggests an apex in the 29.50 area just above 50SMAd . Watch for rejection at the descending wedge or trade the BO . ( woody is taking all questions ! ha ! ) https://tos.mx/1Ek8bhj
  • snowbound: $ESEA Price ribbon tightening DAILY action ... https://tos.mx/HYIxkzr ( new chart )
  • woodman: @snowbound $ESEA - timing matters. I mentioned it on 3/16 and bought it lower near the bottom of the wedge off the 200 day.
  • snowbound: @woodman $ESEA It looks interesting on a long setup which is why I noted it . I understand you do your own thing but now I have your chart ! dang
  • woodman: #Shippers - $ESEA continues to move up after finding support at the 200 day and bottom of wedge, looks destined to test top line of larger wedge ~34-34. If it can up through that, then test 38-39 area. $GRIN continues up after bouncing off 50d. Testing 20d now, but that hasn't been a support/resistance area for this one. Looks en route to test 27 area.
  • woodman: #Shippers #Shipping - I bought $GRIN $ESEA and $EGLE last week, and have been trading around a core of $PANL on the fairly obvious tops and bottoms. I don't have $ZIM at the moment, but it's flagging. $NMM (np) is bouncing. $CMRE I regretfully sold and didn't buy back; can't touch it here. $DSX (np) not in a bad spot here. $MATX (np) doing well, look for another pullback. $DAC (np) also doing well, but would like a deeper pullback.
  • Babutters: @woodman $GRIN $ESEA $EGLE $PANL $ZIM $NMM $CMRE $DSX $MATX $DAC #Shippers #Shipping $ZIM ex div tomorrow for $17 share. I am long with a bit of a cushion.
  • woodman: @Babutters $GRIN $ESEA $EGLE $PANL $ZIM $NMM $CMRE $DSX $MATX $DAC #Shippers #Shipping - I forgot about that. Thanks.
  • Justhanging48: @woodman $GRIN $ESEA $EGLE $PANL $ZIM $NMM $CMRE $DSX $MATX $DAC #Shippers #Shipping How about $GSL?
  • woodman: @Justhanging48 $GRIN $ESEA $EGLE $PANL $ZIM $NMM $CMRE $DSX $MATX $DAC $GSL #Shippers #Shipping - it feels to me like it needs to go sideways or pullback a little more.
  • Justhanging48: @woodman $GRIN $ESEA $EGLE $PANL $ZIM $NMM $CMRE $DSX $MATX $DAC $GSL #Shippers #Shipping. Thanks!
  • woodman: $ESEA trying to move up out of a wedge which is a right shoulder forming of an inv h and s on a longer view. 34-35 target to begin with.
  • woodman: Additional #Shippers to look at... Rates continue to go up, and China-covid situation is contributing. I've mentioned $PANL and everyone knows $ZIM. I also mentioned $CMRE some time ago (it took off). But may want to take a look at $EGLE $ESEA $GRIN $SBLK $SB. Some of these are at lower risk spots than others.
  • issues: @Carpe_Diem $NMM Yes but will it be a BO or a FAKE out? Will it turn out to be another MATX? I hesitated too long with $MATX so I missed it. I have $DAC and $ESEA. I bought the NMM you mentioned. Thank you Diem.
  • issues: @mharps $MATX other shippers include $DAC $NMM $KEX $SBLK $EGLE $ESEA $ZIM $GSL. We hold DAC, ESEA ZIM... We put in a limit order to buy MATX at $89. Yes, we are very patient and will wait for it.
  • issues: @scottrades $GSL right. ALso other shippers include: $DAC $MATX $NMM $SBLK $EGLE $ESEA $ZIM We own some of them.
  • woodman: @gt $CMRE $GRIN - my #Shipping #Shippers list includes that as well: $ZIM $CMRE $GNK $GOGL $GSL $EGLE $ESEA $SBLK $SB $SHIP $DAC $NMM $MATX $GRIN.
  • gt: @woodman $CMRE $GRIN $ZIM $GNK $GOGL $GSL $EGLE $ESEA $SBLK $SB $SHIP $DAC $NMM $MATX #Shipping #Shippers ty. many looking perky
  • woodman: @gt $CMRE $GRIN $ZIM $GNK $GOGL $GSL $EGLE $ESEA $SBLK $SB $SHIP $DAC $NMM $MATX #Shipping #Shippers - I agree.
  • scottrades: $ESEA Making a new Weekly High. Trades a little wide.

  • Sher: @jfd $ATCO - I like this one, as well - I took profits on several calls I had when it hit a high, a couple of days ago - I'll look to reenter (calls and/or stock) on any PB - They have an appealing div. yield of 4.45% - I'm more of a swing than long-term trader, in theme. My watch list for container-ship/tankers includes $ATCO, $CMRE, $CPLP, $DAC, $ESEA, $GSL, $NAT, $NMCI, $NMM, $SBLK and $TK...

  • champ: @woodman $ESEA --- On $DRYS...I double up on the close @ $5.31....now I have 1/4th size position...hard to trust this stock...$ESEA was also up 84%
  • woodman: @champ $ESEA $DRYS - these stocks are nuts the way they decide to move out of the blue! STill going up in the after market. Volume was huge today.
  • champ: @woodman $ESEA $DRYS - These are traders playing with size...could be professionals....that are not trading with their own $$$$...maybe from $GS and others. $DRYS did have News today is why it kicked up....remember I was taking about News ...they reached agreement for refinancing their debt today...and that news was posted this Morning before the open @ 9:00 ET on Briefing.....the whole sector bounced.
  • woodman: @champ $ESEA $DRYS $GS Thanks for the update.
  • orpheusredux: Just looked up "decimation" in Merriam-Webster. The entry has been updated to this: $DRYS $SHIP $ESEA $EGLE $SALT.
  • RedLeaf1: @orpheusredux $DRYS $SHIP $ESEA $EGLE $SALT Yes, I noticed that update. Good spotting.
  • carefree: $DRYS $GNK $EGLE $ESEA $TOPS $SBLK $ASC $STNG Just about all dry bulk shippers up many in double percentages.
  • antfarm: $NMM Jan, Ive been crawling around the @rusty hulks of the bulk shipping group. $NMM is a $MLP (Master Limited Partnership) that pays a #dividend of 9.4%. Several of the bulk shippers also pay a nice #dividend. $ESEA, $SB and $SBLK are in the 6-7% range. Have you looked at $NMM as a candidate #Yieldhog. @Jon
  • Sizzle: Burt, thanks for the info on the BDI. What I think is interesting is that most of the best dry shippers have little direct exposure to the spot rates; however these spot rates do indeed effect the pricing, if nothing more than as a data point, for the long-term contracts. ESEA's CEO has said that most good shippers can stay in business at 2000 and make a good profit at 2500. Additionally, and more importantly, I think that seeing rising BDI rates immediately affects positive trader sentiment in the stock, which, as we've heard several times before, is more important than the news itself. My faves in the sector include, in no particular order, $DSX, $ESEA, $NM, and TBSI. The variance among the different companies is enormous, from their fleet size and composition, to their loads and routes, and their #financials.
  • Sizzle: ...
There were several stocks that were in the green today that @Dan has had on all of our radars: $BRCM, $IBM, $INTC, $LVS, $MDR, $MRVL, $MYL, $SMH and $YHOO, just off the top of my head. Keep your guard up, tighten your Stops, add some hedges agains ...
  • wehappyfew: @tmjska, might also put $ESEA on your shipping radar.
  • nimbl: $ESEA breaking out in sympathy w/ $DRYS earnings. Portfolio holding of Curzio stocks under$10. Squeezing but thin name.
  • wehappyfew: ...
Edit. Having said all that, I just received an email from Frank Curzio @ Stocks Under $10 recommending $ESEA as his choice in the BDI space. Stated it as a high risk/high reward stock with good company fundamentals

  • Craigy: Well the board is really gellin today. Lots of good meaningful posts which are helping me trade. Thanks! After taking some index shorts last week, I was disapointed to give much of the profit up on mon. So since the odds are with my shorts...sorta.. I think, until I can scale them back, I decided to hedge the hedges with some good longs. Hey it makes sense to me. $ESEA came up to me today but is too small of an adv volume for my book. Some of you might like it. Tech and #Financials are carrying the flag today. @Smita great thinking. I agree with using aids whenever possible. In fact I have also found that keying on the port rather than the trades for performance has a big affect on keeping profits.
