  • karkn: Special dividends - Does anybody have any knowledge/experience with buying stocks for their special dividends? $DHIL paying out $10 soon. There are several others out there (PDLI, $NOV, $WYNN recently...). I'm trying to figure out why people don't discuss these. I suspect its because #dividend capture is not a popular strategy and its only a good idea if you want to own the company anyway. Still with $DHIL paying $10, it will drop to the 50 and may attract buyers after the payout just based on support. It would be an interesting project to go back and see what happened in previous years to companies paying a special #dividend. Any thoughts?
