I hear ya' complainin' that smokin' just ain't sexy. And, besides... it took 20 days to make 16 bucks! But that's OK. In the same amount of time, $NVDA lost $25.
- Henry: $PM Breaking out of months of consolidation. This is the monthly chart 4.8% yield
- jwstich: @Henry $PM $MO has a similar pattern, yields 7.94%, has increased dividends for 14 consecutive years. Usually increases dividends in August or maybe September each year. I don't have the current ex-div. date but should be in mid August.

- woodman: @lanedra $XLP $CPB $SJM $CLX $CHD $GIS $K $KMB $PM $KHC $WMT $CAG $TSN - I'm not hungry. I'm essentially fully in cash and standing out of the way, except for short duration 3x ETF trades. - jwstich: $MO $PM $BTI Surprised that there are no posts on the above three stocks. They are down from about 3 to 6% based on a patent infringement suit on the IQOS tech which heats tobacco rather than burns it. Some suiits were filed in Europe against $PM with no adverse results to $PM. IQOS is very limited in $MO. I think the drop in price is overdone in $MO. It currently yields over 8%. I might wait to see what the stock does today. What do you all think??
- Henry: $PM there was a chyron on CNBC that said the PM CEO was urging the UK to ban cigarettes. That had to be fake news as I thought PM sold cigys to rest of the world and MO to the US. Not so, PM has gone smokeless, while fully admitting their products still have addictive nicotine.

- jwstich: $MO, $PM both stocks up about 3% today after FDA decision to allow marketing og IQOS system. From Market Watch. Philip Morris PM, 3.41% and the Food and Drug Administration announced this week that the IQOS “electrically heated tobacco system” has been given the green light to market as a safer alternative to cigarettes. Now designated as a “modified risk” product, the company can promote these items “as containing a reduced level of or presenting a reduced exposure to a substance,” according to the FDA statement. Philip Morris, the company behind Marlboro cigarettes, describes these alternative products as heating rather than burning tobacco, which a cigarette does. Burning tobacco, which reaches 600 degrees Celsius, “contains high levels of harmful chemicals,” according to the company’s website. The tobacco heating system (THS) heats tobacco to 350 degrees Celsius.

- DAN: For you yield hogs, you might consider $MO (yield 9.17%) and $PM (yield 6.77%). I think there is zero chance that they'll cut their dividends. Think about it -- if you smoke, you're a chimney now. This is a stressful environment. Very uncertain times. I can envision someone doing yoga at home with an ashtray next to the mat, sneaking a puff during downward dog. Many people are eating more junk food these days -- stress eating. Tobacco is the junk food for smokers. I know that if I still smoked, I'd be out in the back yard right now. I just don't think these companies are going to see any kind of financial hit.

One day, cannabis/marijuana will lose its "hero" status and become a pariah like tobacco/cigarettes.
