- joelsg1: $ALAB Has dropped about 3% per day since 9/19 and down 9% today since MS said that the $NVDA investment in $INTC could have implications for $ALAB. Stabilizing but the correlation is troubling. Apparently, the concern is that as $NVDA 'fuses' with $INTC x86 domain CPUs, that could in coming years displace some of $ALAB's revs.When the story changes, you have to adjust accordingly. Still long from below but less than before.

Good and bad for me since I have large positions in $AMD and $NVDA. Nvidia will inject $5 billion into Intel as part of a collaboration between the tech giants to jointly develop custom data-center and personal-computing products. Nvidia will buy Intel stock at a purchase price of $23.28 a share. Shares of Intel shot up nearly 31% in premarket trading to $24.90 Thursday. Nvidia shares rose 2.7% to $174.86. Intel will build Nvidia -custom x86 CPUs that Nvidia will integrate into its AI infrastructure platforms and will also build chip systems to be used in Nvidia chiplets that power PCs.

Now that I've had my caffeine, I went back and found out the news feed did a correction as well. I don't hold $INTC either since it's been down in the dumps for so long. Now with US gov't backing and this news, this American institution is coming back to life because of their chip foundry experience in and bringing manufacturing back to America. Both $NVDA and $AMD are fabless.

- jonwest88: @kenb $NVDA $INTC $AMD Have no $AMD, but I do own a nice chunk of $NVDA and in my wife's IRA, now mine since she passed in late Feb 2025, she had added a small amount of $INTC last year, and it is down considerably. I held it, why sell it when it was at $20? This was a tiny amount any way. I could hold it until the grandkids would get it when I die. WHOA up 30 % this am. Let it ride. NVDA invests billions in INTC. Is the US govt still going to fund INTC too? Obviously NVDA is doing this because of INTC's foundry. Great more money for INTC to buy the lastest gear from $ASML.

- joelsg1: $SNPS Winner 2 ways on $NVDA news: First, and I suppose this should have been better foreseen, $NVDA validated $SNPS decision to "de-risk" China, meaning include no China rev. in guidance so there is only upside surprise if any revenue deal is made, this is 1 reason stock tanked on E; and Second, the $NVDA $5B investment/statement of confidence in $INTC US foundries is a big plus, erasing the headwind also mentioned on $SNPS E call which contributed to tanking stock. All my call spreads put on after the E tank have now filled so while I'll take some of the cash on expiry I rolled remaining short strikes up/out to $490 and above as I now expect $SNPS to recover slowly into next E 12/3 and then faster after, with potential kicker if China trade deal made.

- phgruver: @ReneeH $NVDA $AMD $AMD and $INTC are both active in the GPU market as well. Remember, as big as bitcoin mining is, the majority of the GPU market is still gamers. Any technology advantage $NVDA may have will soon be challenged by their competitors. That's just how it works.

- Wolf: #Windows 10 End of support 10/15/25 Windows 11 requires an 8th generation or later processor. Turbotax just announced that their 2025 and later will require Windows 11 due to security risks. How many people/businesses will upgrade so they can continue being supported. Many will have to buy a new PC. I for one will. $DELL $HPQ $INTC $AMD could benefit. Thoughts?
- phgruver: @Wolf $DELL $HPQ $INTC $AMD #Windows MS is offering extended Windows 10 support for a fee. Many businesses will choose to go that route. Also, many will find it more economic to subscribe to Windows11 as a cloud service. They will be able to use the MS Edge browser, running on a Win-10 computer, to access a secure Win-11 server. I don't really see a major upgrade cycle, especially as the current crop of Intel and AMD CPU's only offer incremental advancements over the previous generation. Larger, faster hard drives (think SSD) and more memory will give you more bang for your buck, over a more advanced multi-core CPU that's going to sit idle 90+% of the time. (Personally, I switched to LINUX several years ago....)

- phgruver: @jwgiblin3 $AMD Congratulations! Definitely a high quality problem. As @Dan often suggests, maybe take some off and hold the rest..... $AMD has had a nice run, since the April low, and is now well extended above the moving averages. Historically, it has not been an out performer, playing second fiddle to $INTC and now $NVDA. It may continue to out perform, or it may not.... I would, at least, bank some of the money.

When I was deep in the data processing business, Intel was considered a king in the semiconductor business... always appearing to be way ahead. My son became a programmer at Intel soon out of high school... but ended up moving on due to not an exciting place to work. He was glad he did, since he got much bigger challenges at a couple other firms. News about Intel successes these days seems very sparse.

Most of these names have had normal post-earnings reac ... - joelsg1: $NVDA I think this is a Day 3 Rule response, but Friday was Day 1 (DeepSeek has been out since 1/10) so maybe rebound tomorrow Day 3? Also, more people realizing they used some analysis "tricks", like only training to the 5% most 'popular' cases, hence using much less compute and power. Don't hear any big buyers say they won't continue to buy the latest and greatest. Actually don't hear anything as many are in quiet period pre-E, esp. Wed. $TSLA, $META and $MSFT, and Thursday $AAPL and $INTC. Again, chill. Looking to buy Day 3.

- phgruver: @RichardinME $AMD Let me ask you a simple question: Which are you more likely to buy, a new smart phone or a new desktop computer? $AMD, and it's nearest competitor $INTC make the bulk of of their money selling CPU's for desktop systems. While they both also have graphics processors, and other chip sets, they are both struggling to remain relevant in the rapidly changing digital environment. While I'm not ready to write either one of them off, neither is hitting it out of the park either. As a long term investment? Maybe.... ...But, RHRN, there are better places to put your money.
- kenb: @RichardinME $AMD yes, from initial entry in 2018 with a large cushion. Using that position trade around the core holding - trim off the top when price is high, and purchase back when prices are low. I do not day or swing trade on this. I do have a lot of conviction in the company and the CEO Lisa Su. In the past, she took on $INTC and is winning, and now she is competing with $NVDA. Smart lady and well respected by Wall Street.
