  • wanda1616: @Forexpro $RY $BNS $BMO $CM $TD i am canadian. before the trucker fiasco, i was chatting with a very wealthy friend who has canadian citizenship and kept all his money in canadian banks, though he lives in europe. he told me that canadian banks are (were) the best safest place for money in the world due to the BAIL IN (vs BAIL OUT) policies other international banks have quietly introduced in the aftermath of the financial crisis. meaning if there is another banking disaster depositors will be held liable to bail out the institutions (instead of the taxpayer). do you know anything about this? thanks ! have a wonderful day.

  • Forexpro: Re: $FHN, $TD Hi, Friends, Canada's TDBank really wants to be a retail player in the U.S., it seems. It's been a while since I recall seeing it do a large transaction, but it announced that it is buying Memphis-based $FHN for 25/share in cold, hard cash, which will boost its U.S. branch count to somewhere around 1500. Total cost will be circa $13 bn, a 37 percent premium to Friday's closing level, per Bloomberg.com. Not a very good day for large banks - "Hey, how much Russia exposure ya got?" - but $FHN is higher. :-) No, I don't own any of either. All the best!

  • Forexpro: Re; $GS, @TD Hi, $TD, Here's hoping that you're doing well. I'm not sure that I agree on the daily timeframe; it remains in a downtrend, although it has found what looks to be decent support in the 159.75 area. There looks to me to be potentially strong resistance lurking around 168. If it can manage to navigate those shoals, I'll be much more bullish: http://scharts.co/1c6j1ro Stochastics are neutral, and the stock is underperforming the S&P Bank Index ($BIX). Your analysis may well be correct, and I agree that there's some upside here. My suspicion is that the near term potential is limited, but I'm wrong all the time. I presume that you're already in it; if so, best of luck.

  • Jorma: $HAL @ $TD - on weekly, there has been support at high 47's to 48, this was level where last major rise started in 9/13, was retested in 10/13 and peaked at 56 and change. Most of what you read about $HAL is that they are well positioned, among best in breed, should do well, etc., Sterne Agee had it as top oilfield services pick for 2014, with target of 63, and was trading on the cheap, now cheaper. I remain long, though currently in the red.

  • getshawn: @DAN: Awesome. Thank you for confirming this for me. I know it's all relative - depending on the cost of the stock you're trading and how far it moves - but seems like you really have to use quite a bit of capital just to overcome $TD Ameritrade's commission of $9.99 per in/out of a position. (They're definitely not the cheapest! but i prefer their ThinkorSwim trading platform). I understand why you're all about being a risk manager but seems like you also have to have a grasp on how much you can potentially make per trade, just to overcome the commission cost.

  • DrScience: #TOS @BuffaloBill, TOS is thinkorswim platform by $TD Ameritrade. I'd recite all the accolades, but time constraints prevent enumerating them. SwimLessons are tutorials on various subjects targeted at learning to use the platform to its fullest extent. Shameless Plug Alert: Send my your contact information through Forum e-mail and I'll have TDAM send you a welcome e-mail. If you open an account, I get $50 bucks as a finder's fee, which would be redeemable by you for dinner on your next visit to the garden city of Missoula, MT. ;)
  • BuffaloBill: @DrScience my email whiskeyandbranch@gmail.com I am with $TD and have never looked at think or swim, Bought a beautif carved coffee table of trout swimming in a steam under a glass top, Big Sky Carvers, Montana what a great state. I am open to any suggestions, Thanks
  • knick: RY- new to the forum, looking to start a position in Canadian bank, comparing $RY and $TD, charts look good, would appreciate any feedback.
  • cb: $SNDK - a very liquid stock has No Shares available for #shorting at $TD Am....never seen this before in this stock, and i day trade it a bunch?? Does that mean anything as in Danger Will Roberson ???? Time will tell. By the way Glad to be back
  • Forexpro: Re: $CLDX, @TD Hi, $TD, You may well be correct in your interpretation of the move in $CLDX, but the notion that the lunge to the downside is just getting started is mathematically impossible. The high was 38.84 on Oct 2, so in three weeks, 40% of the stock's value at high water has been washed away. Who knows for how long? People far more astute than I am in these matters believe that there are some potential upside catalysts. I'd certainly be inclined to wait for some price confirmation of good news rather than attempt to pick a bottom. Hope you're doing well; all the best.
  • Tricia: $CLDX @ $TD ... so are are you short? 17.5 by Nov? Wow. so are are you short?
  • Morpheous1: Alerts, I haven't received any email alerts in the last few days. Has anyone else? Thanks $TD
