As the COVID pandemic proved, alcohol consumption increases with societal stress. My play here is $STZ, only because I can't buy stock in the alcohol distributors (to the best of my knowledge, none are publicly traded). As we used to say in college (albeit with a different goal in mind), 'Candy is dandy, but liquor is quicker.'
- debeers: @drmike54 $HSY $STZ -yes liquor is quicker as ogden nash said but most folks wouldprefer that their 5 year olds didn't indulge and the main thing i look for is competition. There's a lot in the space between brands and between individual spirits themselves. Who competes with Hershey in the space?

- Pokersmith: Mexico's president said that U.S. brewer Constellation Brands ($STZ) will build a new brewery somewhere in the southeastern part of the country, following a deal he said his government has reached with the company. President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador made the announcement during his regular morning news conference, but did not offer further details on the project. Last year, a previous plan by Constellation to build a brewery in the northern city of Mexicali, near the border with the United States, was rejected in a local public referendum. On Friday, the president touted plentiful water supplies in Mexico's southeast, which was a major sticking point when the project was slated for the arid north. Constellation brews several brands of Mexican beer, including Corona and Pacifico, exclusively for the U.S. market, which was one factor that made the original border location attractive logistically.

- Pokersmith: @traderbren $STZ absolutely, and for reference, look at the 2 previous times it took a trip below the 50 ma, and the subsequent recovery day to get above, and follow through. Had you placed your stop l.o.d the last two times, you would have done well.

Constellation Brands (STZ) declared a quarterly dividend of 76 cents a share on its class A common stock, up from 75 cents. The company makes and distributes beer, wine, and spirits. Its brands include Corona and Modelo. The stock, which yields 1.4%, has a one-year return of about 35%. Levi Strauss ($LEVI) declared a quarterly disbursement of 6 cents a share, up from 4 cents previously. The apparel company's stock, which has a one-year return of about 90%, yields 0.5%.

It also amounts to expansion..while divesting lower margin wines and spirits segment. Corona beer and the Mexican Yucatan....what's not to like ?

Constellation Brands (STZ) on Thursday reported Q4 adjusted profit of $1.82 per share, above the Capital IQ mean of $1.55 a share but RBC said the company's depletion missed consensus, weighed down by one-off items. The firm also said Constellation Brands(STZ) guided its fiscal 2022 on the "weaker side," in line with the company's practice of being conservative. - msing3: @Pokersmith $STZ $Sam Sales have accelerated again this year, Truly Tea Seltzers, Twisted Tea and the new Dogfish acquisition have really boosted sales this year, $Sam just announced a Punch flavored Seltzer that looks very promising. If they ever increase the production to catch up to sales, who knows where their sales could go.

I took half off before earnings, so this dip is more tolerable. That said, I'm not dumping this one. If we are in fact reopening, , this will be ok. Well run company...facing tough comps in light of the pandemic. IMHO
