  • scorpino: looking at all the oil/gas stocks on my watchlists (weekly charts) I sure see a lot of @zig/zag/@zig/zag/ ready to @zig (to my unskilled eyes) except for $STR and WES which look more like $ROST than og stocks :-) (or maybe they're all on their way to zero)

  • gatordave: @DAN - $FCG (Natural Gas ETF) - I know $UNG is a killer and has many issues. I would never touch it but there is another that I have been watching and am stalking for an entry. $FCG is comprised of about 30 stocks with nat gas exposure. Each is 3-4% of the total fund holdings and they have decent charts with confirming secondary indicators (telechart proprietary). The major holdings are: $APA APC $BP CHK $COP CRK $DVN ECA $EOG FST $HES KWK ME MUR $NBL NFX $PQ SGY $SM STO $STR SU $SWN TLM $TOT UPL $XCO XEC XOM. If you would care to share your opinion I'm sure I would not be the only one reading with interest. Thanks, GatorD

    8. $STR Holdings ( $STRI ) - Chosen because they make plastic film encapsulants otherwise known as stuff used by solar module manufacturers to protect their components from bad things like water and beer bong mishaps. Profit margins and revenues are ...
  • orthodoc: I like $STR, reported suprise results, unlike some of the others.
  • orthodoc: My workhorses today: $TSO, $STR, $SWC, $TIE, $SA SA---gold, coming upon resistance STR---nice earnings in nat gas group TIE---Titanium, early cycle TSO--refinery that had been squeezed! Chemicals and chips breathing a little today.
  • orthodoc: @Dan, check out APL, $WIN, PVX coming out of squeezes...a beautiful thing! And one gold stock, $SA is not bad today on good volume. APL has 13.95 % #dividend; $WIN has 11.7%; PVX 12.7% $LLY looking good after news today. Bought $CHS today on breakout. Still own $TSO, $TSM, $TIE, $T, $SWC, $STR, Joyg, $HIL, $GVA, $AMD, $BHP, $DD, FPL, $GWR, LINE, $NRGY, $MOO WAG Sold ARLP today; I agree with @Dan on coal, careful short term;
  • orthodoc: What sectors you like most? chips, railroads, shipping, steel, coal, retail, construction ? I've added this morning as well: BW, $FSYS, JOYG,RMBS,$TSO, $STR, $TIE, $X and $TSM, $TRN, $HIL, $FCX, $KOL, $SXL are running as well. LOTS of work adjusting stops, adding, etc. Buy stop orders in for $SWC and $RPM
  • orthodoc: What do you think about natural gas, $SWN, $STR, $UPL, etc?
  • orthodoc: My watch list from some reading/screens last night: AMN, BEZ, $CNI, FPL, $HMSY, $WTS, TWP, $LPHI, $TXT PFF---interesting preferred stock fund--bought some a couple of days ago I have $BPT, $STR, $WTI, and $HP as my oil/gas plays. Thanks @Dan for videos/posts. It helps put things in perspective. Still trading with caution, good entries, stops, etc. Trailing stops with stocks that are moving out such as $BPT and $HP help in taking some profits. I do like your analogy about an "employee that is working for you" to not get out so quick on a stock that is advancing . I've been using a trailing stop on half my position after some profit and using original stop below resistance for other half.
  • orthodoc: Good action in $ACM, $BPT, $CX, E, $HIL, $MRVL, $NAT, $STR, $VMC,TIE, $PWR, $HRL Will hold over weekend(this is a change for me) and put stops/buys in again for Monday as Sizzle alludes to optimism that I feel as well(totally wrong on my part to guess at optimism, but I feel like Obama factor-------CHANGE factor is strong) and I know the risk for me------Gains that I've gotten over last 3 days----hold over weekend, knowing that by not protecting profit over 3 days, may be back at even, however am trading around a core, realize my risk, and only doing it with small amounts.
  • Ian: @Dan, You mentioned $BP favorably over at RM. How do you see the larger independent drillers? I looked at the Independent Oil and Gas group and sorted by capitalization. Down here in Texas, it's hard for drillers to find a banker willing to pony up the front money needed for digging speculative holes in the ground. The bigger guys are probably having a somewhat easier time raising money. A number of the drillers with large caps for their industry have charts similar to BP. $OXY, CEO, $APC, STOSY (Australia) $STR NBL Be careful and stay with the deep pocket integrated guys like BP? Supplement them by nibbling on an independent driller as well? @Ian
  • pwsmith: Is anyone using todays selloff in nat gas to start any initial entries? was thinking about $STR, $HK or COG. Can anyone comment or possibly refer me to an article on how commodities are coupled to the dow/s&p so I know if it is ok to buy these kinds of stocks when there is a good possibility that the dow and s&p will go lower (3-day rule)
  • orthodoc: Buying XTO and $STR on break from congestion yesterday. Looks like natural gas plays are working so far. Will add $HK today with trailing stop.
  • evanesce: Hi @Craig, I too like a lot of these names. Last week I commented on $BABY CYBX $ILMN SQNM. I also like the overall look of $NUVA and $STR charts.
  • jjblacksheep: Hey team, hope everyone is holding up well today. Still riding my OSIP and $STR but nothing to write home about. The wife wonders why every time she comes in my office the last 2-3 weeks I have my guitar in my lap and my amp on instead of being "busy". That's how it's been. Yawn. Ready for action but I can wait. Good luck all.
  • evanesce: ...
$CYBX - Cyberonics, medical instruments, at all-time high (needs to pull back?), 12 days to cover (shorts probably fueled this week's rocket rise)
$EXC - Excelon, utility, chewing through congestion
$IIIN - Insteel, wire and cable but mainly concr ...
  • jjblacksheep: OSIP continues to work the right side of it's base moving on decent volume today. Just a heads up. Long OSIP and $STR, by far mostly cash. Top of the OSIP cup is about 52. See yall tomorrow.
  • evanesce: @Yachtsman, this was easy. I had to drop my volume limit down to 250K/day, because pipelines are not especially active trading vehicles (with a few exceptions). The list, adding $TRP, is $EEP EP $EPD KMP MGG NSH $PAA SE $STR @TPP $TRP WMB My observations: - huge daily volumes in EP EPD $SE STR $WMB, best for estimating rotation - every name, except $SE, either never tagged the 200DMA or has now regained it (!!) - $SE has dropped out from an extended volatility #squeeze so it has a special chart pattern - EP MGG $NSH suffered very little technical damage (TRP $WMB held well too) So: these differ from the refiners and drillers, which I think are momentum names. Pipelines, especially the top performers, might well be hed by steadier hands who take a longer-term view. Certainly the group's rapid recovery from some sharp drops is a positive indicator.
