With cost basis of $52.73 and $55.60, respectively. We have price targets of 67/80/90. So a lot of room to run. Thanks for your question.

  • Chucky: @Terry My cousin had an heart valve operation 10 years ago and she is thriving because of it. My prayers are with you and your doctors so you may have the same results. Regarding your stocks, if you don't want to sell all your longer term holdings use position size as a risk tool. In the meantime watch key support and pivot areas for your stock. You might have $ST levels to make decisions before Feb6. Since they are longer term zoom out to the weekly charts. Is longer trend Macro still intact? Watch a bounce off lateral and/or 100 then 200dma support.
  • Lou: $FB @moneyHoHo - interesting that you should bring it up. This morning I did a tax calculation with the thought of lightening up. I go long term on much of my stock in March. I assumed the $ST Cap G rate of 23.8% and LT Cap Gain Rate of 41.98% (highest Fed rate). Both rates include the 3.8% Medicare tax. I made no adjustment for the confiscatory Maryland rate of around 9%. Based on Fed rate only I could afford a drop in $FB from current 56+/- level down to 45 without any reduction of after tax proceeds. Since I have great confidence that it will stay well above 45 for the next few months, I did not take any off. Maryland tax will change the calculation somewhat as in both cases I'd get a Federal deduction for Maryland taxes.
  • snmtraders: EMV chip @bybyjanice I just googled EMV credit manufacturers and scrolled through some of these sites to find that $ST Microelectronics manufacturers the few approved chips available. Another site suggests that Gemalto -- a French company that @Karen Finerman had mentioned quite some time ago -- rolled up the only EMV certified chip manufacturers. Not sure how reliable the latter info is, but I suspect if @Karen has been invested in this French company for some time, she has the inside scoop. On another note, she was short $PAY (Veriphone) against this.

  • tjay: @grover 12, As I see it, Wash sale tax events are for LT investors. As a trader it means nothing. If an investor buys back a stock sold for a loss within 30 days, he cannot write off the lost at favorable LT rate. It must be treated at less favorable $ST rate. Come tax time. Simple as that. So for me, as a trader I don't bother about that stuff in my trading account. imho, of course.. :)

Anticipating the 50DMA crossing the 200DMA to be a bit of a positive catalyst psychologically. Looking to add $GS and $WFC at some point. Breaking my own, self-imposed rule and buying on a Friday.   • ldouglas: $BAC, $ST --- (in TSC)_Bank of America and SunTrust should see a "sizeable earnings benefit" from a recovering housing market, according to JPMorgan Chase analyst Vivek Juneja. The analyst on Thursday said that "with home prices rising for the past few months," he expects major cost savings for the lenders, with reduced net loan charge-offs (NCOs), lower expenses related to repossessed real estate, and a decline in "other credit related expenses such as collections and servicing." I'm long $BAC, it has been channeling with higher lows and higher highs.

  • eileff: $CTL if it is in a retirement acct with no $ST Cap Gains then this makes sense.If it is in a non-retirement account than if the drop is less than the 15% or whatever tax bracket you are in, I do not think it makes sense.You have to think about after tax profits.
  • WorkinMan: CTL---In my case it is a 403b account so $ST gains tax is not a consideration according to my understanding. But, good eye!! One has to be aware of the tax situation.

Anyway, I if think the market is moving sideways to down for a while, then #shorting stocks and selling covered puts seem to make sense. Not necessarily the method discussed in the book, but just curious. Any comments would be greatly appreciated. BTW, I am not thinking about doing this anytime soon. I'm fairly new to SMM, and still learning what everyone in the forum is saying, and trying to figure out what my overall strategy should be. $ST
  • MSL: $LNKD 59 $ST, I am not familiar w the movement of $DLB, but am familiar w $LNKD and I know it rips in either direction. I was looking at the daily chart for $LNKD and all time high at 123 for an IPO strategy. When it first IPO'd it opened in the 80s and ripped up to 120s, was anyone trading it that day? I remember watching it. I am of the mind that $FB will have a similar trade dynamic when it IPOs.

  • MSL: 59 $ST AEO, your bias is up bcuz of what happened as @DAN describes at 1:13 on disc 2, 9:35a/9:36 dynamic eventho this was a gap up and not a gap down. There are four ways to play these as you know, gap up short, gap up long, gap down short, gap down long. $AEO is #2, $GMCR for instance today is #3 but wasnt that obvious off the opening print.
  • MSL: 59 $ST, its something you really have to watch a couple of times. How long have you been a member? It really took me being around here for a year and then watching 59er for it to make sense. The true tell is when @DAN pulls up a chart in the SS and you are able to determine what he is going to say re. the chart before he says it. Only then does 59er make sense, at least for me.
  • Ellen@NYC: $RENN and $DANG - Both near $ST resistance. Seems to me $RENN has a lot less resistance to chew thru, and it's already above both averages. $DANG may have limited upside, with a bump up against the 50 and then an entry into Helga's iHOP (international house of pain). Though I'm not a day trader, I would still expect $RENN to be a pretty $ST trade.

  • Marty: $LLL - L-3 Communications Holdings Inc - I unfortunately do not remember the name of the SMM member that mentioned this one 2 weeks ago as a potential Short #squeeze. That did not pan out as predicted. Its already filled that March 6th mini gap, and now, sitting on the 50 DMA. The 50 and 200 are almost ready to kiss each other. Volume, not good. Open interest in the April $70 and $75 calls sticks out. Competitors, $UTX (I know they have that merger approved with GR), $GD, and $ST are also strong today. No position @Marty
