- bullmoose: $SFD - Breaking out of a volatility #squeeze here with a rapid move in the last half hour. It's also coming off a nice base along the 200, having it tagged it 3 times since mid January. Watch for resistance up around 25. It's also in a weekly #squeeze between 22.1 and 24.8. You can buy the breakout or wait for a pullback to a higher low.

- bullmoose: Trending Stocks (@joebob) - First, I don't recommend buying on a day when the market gaps up. Usually what's happened lately is that the market meanders along or drifts down after the gap. Today could be the day it doesn't do that, but the odds say that you'll get an opportunity to buy the stocks you want at a lower price than you can right now, either later today or in a day or two. There will be a few exceptions as there always are if you pick 'em right. That said, here's a list of some trending stocks I'm either in or looking to get in. Most are not at good buy points. $AUY (just bouncing off the 200-day), $AVID (breaking out), CPWM, $FAST, $HOS, $KOG, LKQX, $MO, $NUS (watch out for the lower high), $QCOR, $RAX, $RGR, $RS, $SFD, $VGR, $VHC, $VRTX, $WWWW, $X, $YUM, ZOLT.
- bullmoose: $SFD - Bought a starter in this pork producer on an upgrade this morning. It's been hovering around the 20-day in the winner's circle, basing after pulling back from a breakout. I have a stop under 23.5. I'll add on a break above the trend or a move closer to support.

Pork margins are improving. I understand has some flexibility to pass food cost increases along to customers to meet the global demand for protein.
- shrholder: $SFD - Gregory & all - I have been watching this stock to buy for a long time in the 22.24 area for a while with an alert set which triggered yesterday - it had good earnings yesterday yet a new failed high at open and a close near the low has kept me out --- still it is within the daily vol #squeeze but that engulfing red candle yesterday on a failed breakout - makes me wait for a confirmation. But Keep this on the radar... I can smell the Bacon... Have a great weekend all .
- cmac: $SFD gregory, I own calls on SFD...wish I had sold into yesterday's pop....but I wasn't quick enough. The fact that it hasn't moved tells me that good earnings were already baked in, even though they beat estimates handily. What may not be baked in is $3 in earnings power that one analyst is predicting. In any case, I think that it is a low risk hold at around 8x earnings....and if China bounces back, that may be the catalyst. pos: July calls

- cmac: $SFD Smithfield is in a nice vol sq on the daily chart. Here's the problem - it reports on the 10th. But it is not expensive. Tyson (TSN) recently reported a decent quarter and popped on the news. China is a huge consumer of pork, so I'm thinking this could be a good quarter for SFD. I'll probably play this with a small call option position. $SFD has been consolidating price here for over 1 month. Worth setting some alerts

Most are of no interest in this market but four to consider include WINN, $UNFI, WBD, and SFD. All are above the various moving averages and may present entries. Due diligence always in order.

My top short pick from yesterday, $HRL, is down only 3% now and recovering. The chart looks really bad but $HRL looks due for a bounce. I would say it's a short close to today's highs or if it hits the bottom of BB (2stdev). No position.
