  • Dman: Hello all, I’m new here and am interested in feedback on a few stocks I found today. $COLL – Weekly consolidation squeeze for almost a year. Daily squeeze from 10/12/20 (maybe channel from 11/11/20). Breakout above $20.20. Target $23. Stop loss $19 or $18. $MU – Breaking out of a consolidation squeeze from 12/4/20-12/30/20. Buy on pullback to $74.35? 1st target $85. Stop loss $68.95 or $70.25. $MCO – Weekly consolidation squeeze from 9/4/20. Daily squeeze from 12/4/20-12/29/20. Buy pullback to $288ish. Stop $281. Again, I’m new to this and any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

  • haaktar: Hi @Dan what do you think about $MCO?
  • Hemal: @haaktar $MCO Just saw this so thought I would share my thoughts and not sure what Dan would say. Both ESP and revenue growth is slowing down. Breakouts are not working. Such squeezes that are right coming from under 50sma are suspect from what I have been observing unless they break out and are supported on next pull back by 8ema (best in class), 21ema not too bad and 50 at the least. With the way market is I am hesitant to open new positions and if I do really small (Once I have opened I am regretful I have as they have not worked). 50sma is trending down (Looks quite similar to TXG) If this one breaks through $285.10 this may work. I would not be interested though.

  • DAN: @haaktar $MCO I would go with @Hemal's comments here, @haaktar. He's a bit more granular than I might be re/ 8ema, 21ema, etc. BUT...those are definitely valid points. But his analysis of the chart is spot on. Breakouts haven't been working. I th ...

  • vfr777: $MCO ATH @Dan This is "specialty finance" and at all time high $135.01. Although financials aren't doing that well, I was thinking to take a bite here and put a tight stop. What do you think?
  • DAN: @vfr777 $MCO MCO is "specialty". Doesn't rely on the yield curve to make money. I think you can do that. It's just 4.25% above the 50-day moving average. I might put my stop a bit more snug than that to begin with. The stock has come pretty far since the August low and looks like it might need a bit of a rest...but I don't think you're too late.

  • moneyHoHo: @shweint - find yourself a chart with a nice smooth tight pattern going from the lower left to the upper right, with the 50 day average not to far below, and the 50 day average above the 200 day avg, and buy a couple shares. Just remember, you want to buy now because everything looks rosy, but everyone else bought when the rubber met the road. $SO buy a little and see where you end up. If projections from the Congressional Budget Office hold true, a debt crisis will hit the U.S. by 2018 # and if those projections prove to be too optimistic, the crisis will be he ...
  • gamiller: Breakouts: $RSH,TIE, $V $MCO illustrates a @textbook breakout: big move above resistance, pullback to support (former resistance), and lift-off!
  • ticker: Short Side - I am very interested in anyone's thoughts on any good #shorting opportunities. Whether selling calls, buying puts or simply #shorting any stock is Aok. For starters, have a look at the $NVS January 45 Puts. Strong rumors that they are having problems producing H1N1 vaccine. Well out of the money but seems to have more interest than they should considering the stock price. Also, $MCO is not trading well and will crater given current status with House of Reps bill for legislation opening up lawsuits on the Credit Ratings Agencies. If bill is passed the flood gates for lawsuits will open and $MCO will be a $15. stock. The January puts seem to be heavily favored
  • growslikeatree: @DAN , saw your post on @FITZ Bits about $MCO (Moody's). didn't you also cover that in a recent video? anyway, could this co go out of business possibly?
  • Junior: $MCO - My fun, no $TA, gambling/spec trade for the week. Just in case Moody's continues to get destroyed and @Warren $B decides to sell more of them, I bought Jan 10 puts. Defined risk... "C'mon 7-11!!" I can't help myself... I'm trying to be a more reformed gambler, so I take it out on trades like this. It allows me to not "gamble" with the real money, and be a more disciplined risk manager. Baby steps!
  • Burt H: Forex I was checking out $MCO and I saw a purchase of Jan 2010 10 strike puts for 5700 contracts. What is the delta on these?? thanks Burt
  • Burt H: @Forexpro Thanks for the info. I have been watching $MCO, to see if it is worth an entry and with your information, I will be on the side. Burt
  • ronaldrussell: I do some #shorting, right now $WLP, $MCO & $TEN over the last 2 days. Normally just short term trades 1-3 days. This will be the first time I have used @Dan's "wait for the turn to buy" to cover my shorts. I am currently 15% short, 5% long rest in cash. Typically sell after support breaks, ex. $WLP today support @ $50.00 sold when broke to $49.90 with a $50.49 Stop.
  • DAN: Oh, I'd be surprised if $MCO did not fall below the Nov/March lows. I just had an email exchange with a member about $MCO (apologies, I forget who it was), who owned a bunch of $15 out-of-the-money put #options. I told him I hoped they expired $15 in the money. (Oh, he also corrected me about ownership. $MCO is owned by Standard and Poor. But the sleaze factor remains.)
  • vitaly077: MHP- I mean. $MCO as well. Wanted to short this sucker at a @zig, but did not. Do not ask why...do not remember.:) I think this one has a relative 200ma. hence, better short.
  • vitaly077: Callalilly- you were intersted in this one as well. $MCO
  • Sizzle: $MCO - potential short? I'd love to see $MCO meander around for another day or three and then try and fail to break the 200 EMA resistance line. That might be a decent short down to the low $20's.
  • Sizzle: Personally, I think that the core business model for the company is fatally flawed. And as Exhibit A, I'd point to the Aa and Aaa ratings that they gave to the Mortgage Backed Securities bundles. I am not fond of $MHP, S&P's parent corp either, but $MCO appears to be further along in their downtrend. I am still waiting until it proves it has no strength to enter the short. People talk about @Warren Buffett owning it as if he'd protect the stock price. I think that if he starts to think the model is flawed also, that he may sell off large chunks, also. Just conjecture.
  • Sizzle: ...
I still contend that the linchpin in this whole fiasco was the Credit Rating Agencies which absolutely KNEW that the crap MBS paper they were rating as $AA and AAA was no where close to that. Had that not happened, most entities would not have been ...

  • curEus: sleepy- I think $MCO is being pitched by one of Motley Fools' advertisers. I got an email Saturday morning about one of Berkshire Hathaway's holdings that was down about 50% this year. From the description that Berk owned about 20% of it, it was likely MCO. From a #CNBC interview with Becky Quick I saw, I have the impression Buffett is somewhat embarrassed to own it. FWIW. Mark

Anyhow, based on recent calculations BRKA / BRKB portfolio is up @ $5 billion (COP, $KO, $MCO, $BUD, Rails, POSCO) as the components of the portfolio had huge gains since March 30th. More importantly, Mid-American and NetJets are really humming for ...

Worth nothing this morning are the multiple upgrades for $WMT and the raised targets for $CVX and XOM. On a personal note, I am surprised by the recent price of BRKA / BRKB. This is a long-term hold for me. BRKA / BRKB portfolio is up dramatically s ...
  • edfiggy: Like $MCO Bought a position in $MCO at $67.05. $MCO was up 2.2% before market (close to $70) and is now down a $1. Great quarter by MCO...Look for $MCO to recover during the day. Good daytrade IMHO.
  • edfiggy: Hey $MCO now hugging $68... The blind pig finds an acorn.
  • edfiggy: Sold $MCO Do not wnat to get gready with MCO. Got $MCO when it was very oversold ($67.05)despite a great report. Out at $68.55. I take a $1.50 for a daytrade anyday. Still like the stock but discipline makes me sell it.
  • edfiggy: @Dan, I found myself doing the same... I was tempted to hold $MCO for a couple of days but it was a very successful daytrade...so I I took my profit. Mixed feeling about AAPL. Obviously sold to quick at $93.01 but I was scared of the release. Read Cody about AAPL. We will probably feel really dumb in about 30 minutes but the downside is $10 and $AAPL likes to guide lower.
