  • jojo1480: Education stocks- yesterday I posted the stocks that were up % since the jan2011. Here is a list of stocks that are down since that period, might find better opportunity: $CPLA -28%, $STRA -20%, $LINC -6%, $ASEI 0%, $COCO -23.42%, $LOPE -35%.....good hunting.
  • jojo1480: Educational Stocks- update, the Senate is going to take up hearings after the mid cycle elections. It appears the industry has a friend within the Republican ranks, and that the measures taken may not be as draconian as initially reported (conjecture). $COCO performed the best last week up ~17%. The DoEducation issued new guidelines last week and if your interested do some due diligence and do a little research. The ending %s' is from Aug 18 of this year until ending 25 Sep, ~5/6 weeks. Stock % ending 18Sep % ending 25 Sep $STRA 1.19 12.10 $APOL 21.66 25.2 $CPLA 6.46 22.79 best gainer $LINC 13.12 23.24 $ASEI neg 1.74 2.29 $ESI 18.89 24.72 $DV 16.56 27.7 $APEI 19.28 29.09 $COCO 20.34 18.64 dropped $BPI 23.56 11.45 dropped $LOPE 18.51 25.9 I daytrade $STRA and $APOL (gap/59min trade) with great success on Fr it had a 15pt gain. If your daytrading $STRA please use limit order, there is a big spread between the bid and ask. I don't know if these stocks are up because were having a great September,or because the stock price have been decimated due to pending regulatory changes. Position Long $STRA (long and daytrade), and APOL.

For those that are interested I will try to give a weekly performance update and see where these dogs end up in the next several weeks. $STRA +5.42%, $APOL +5.97% $CPLA +6.46%, $LINC -.44%, $ASEI -3.16%, $ESI +2%, $DV +.2%, $COCO -9.6%, $BPI -.96%, $LOPE +2.6% Chart wise they are in the penalty box, and consolidating away from the lower BB. Small positions $STRA and CPLA.
  • jojo1480: Ed Stocks- $EDMC APEI $DV STRA $APOL CPLA $LINC COCO $BPI LOPE $ESI, all these educational stock market caps have been battered due to the gov. gainful employment proposal. Many of these schools have/are initiating repurchasing of their stock. The changes are coming and not quite sure what the new proposal will be, in short you will be playing with fire. Analyst have recommend $STRA APEI and $CPLA with the least exposure to the proposed new rules. The shorts have targeted $STRA CPLA, thus the big moves since monday. I suggest if you have an investment account buy 1-10 shares and observe how these stocks behave. Long $STRA CPLA $APOL and $ESI ( most size positions are traded on intraday moves). I am not a bottom feeder, but this can be the opportunity for really big gains. just my 2cents.
  • jververis: $AN May want to also look at AutoNation popping out of a $VQ, similar to KMX. @Dan, can you review the education stocks? Feel like I have missed a big move in the group. Missed a limit order on $BPI once it cleared the 200 day. Bought $APOL just over the 200 day now. Is there an $ETF to follow the group? Stocks with big runs: $LOPE, $CPLA, $COCO, RLRN, $UTI, $ESI, $DV, $EDU, $LINC, $BPI, $CECO, $STRA, APEI. So frustrating missing a move like this. Thanks, John

  • razmataz: $LINC - 20? its well below the 20. almost at the 200 which has not been particularly relevant although it did bounce from this level a week ago . i see support at 12.50
