  • kat: $LIFE BALANCE @mepcc1 - it is my impression you have some balance worked out in a way I may like to emulate, so maybe you can answer a few questions for me. Sounds like you are swing trading and are long, willing to walk away from the market activity during the day...is that right? I like that concept! At what points of the day and/or during the week do you tend to stray from watching the market? Does if vary substantially depending on the time of year? The way I see it, I need to use the summer to learn and maintain skills, but I will probably not want to be as involved through end of August unless the market clearly strengthens. Plus it will give me a chance to address other important concerns. ~k:)

Peripheral neuropathy is damage to nerves of the peripheral nervous system, which may be caused either by diseases of or trauma to the nerve or the side effects of systemic illness. Here the illness is DEADLY breast cancer. Twitching of a facial nerve, is a minor price to pay for an extension of $LIFE, possibly to a time when a cure to defeat cancer may be found. Ditto for @rash. These are very minor side effects. • ginny: $LIFE I understand the far reaching plan to be able to do a DNA test in 2 hours v. 1 week. Being in the medical testing field, this is huge. The big money to be made is not in the selling of the machines but the continual influx of buying reagents, controls, parts etc. However.. how many machines will be purchased? My guess is that only major med research centers, crime labs will buy. Not hospitals. Worldwide..who knows. It is on my radar too. No position yet. Bigger implication..many cancer drugs are dependent on knowing the DNA makeup of the cancer cell to prescribe the correct drug for treatment.

  • tnt: $LIFE moving higher with some nice volume today. Trying to break trendline resistance on daily
  • captbryan: AUY... This one stuck the 200 ema and is at a good buy point now with support and risk well defined by the 200. Taking a 1/2 position since I can set my stop this close. $LIFE also could be letting us in today.
  • tsogles: $LIFE Biotech equipment maker now at the 50 ema and approaching 20 week sma (49.08). Long term (weekly) chart is in uptrend but OBV on daily is dreadful.. You might want to keep an eye on this for an entry if it shows any signs of bottoming between 49.08 and 50.72. Needs some upside volume to make it a good risk reward. @Terry

  • RtHereRtNow: SHARING CHARTS- Over the extended weekend, I went in to do some housekeeping in my Alerts. I pulled out these stocks from the many that I have alerts set on. These are moderately priced stocks that, to me, have interesting charts. Most are in the upper range of the BBs, some are pushing the upper BB, a few are in squeezes or are coming off pullbacks. Anyway I have alerts set on all of these, either to let me know when they pull back some or to let me know when they break through a higher level. Hope you find a nugget in here. @Tim G. $WM 33.76 $KOL 36.36 $MYL 18.74 $CHKP 34.06 $NBR 22.96 $CREE 55.06 $VMW 43.77 $BRY 30.11 $FLEX 7.52 $TCK 37.82 $OI 33.95 $LIFE 52.17 $NWL 15.32 $B 16.75 $XLF 14.53 BJS 18.92 PTV 23.90 $EBR 20.18 $AUY 11.78
  • ajitsuthar: $LIFE - Is this ready for volatility expansion? Is anyone in LIFE?
  • Lou: $LIFE -- I'm in, holding original position from early September, and have been adding recently. Looking for much higher but no target because it is making new highs. Will continue to gradually raise fairly loose stops on partial position. Love the price/volume action. @Lou
  • tsogles: $LIFE Alert went off..moving to new 52 wk high out of 6% bb #squeeze on decent volume. I own some and am adding with stop just below 2-day low. I think its in a good sector and has been consolidating over the past couple of weeks. @Terry
  • tsogles: $AMSC LIFE Taking some profits in $AMSC and plowing them into LIFE. $AMSC is up 15% in a week so some triming is prudent. $LIFE is still in 6% BB #squeeze with a strong weekly chart with good OBV and money flow. It's not a rocket ship but has been a solid performer for us. Stop below 50 ema (ATR 1.08 and 50ema 49.09). $XLV just poking its head out of #squeeze but not with conviction. Keep your stops tight. @Terry
  • tsogles: $LIFE My scan shows Life in a 6% bb #squeeze. Its in a strong sector and I'm still holding some from the last #squeeze at 45. You might want to keep an eye on it and pick up a little on any weakness. @Terry
  • Suzie: Hello Mentorites, On this, my first single Thanksgiving, I find myself reviewing the year and looking forward to the future. I've had one of the hardest years of my life, but one of the few consistently positive experiences I've had was here at SMM. The outpouring of love and caring for those of us in need is truly amazing. We are indeed a community and one that I am extremely grateful for. My best friends in $LIFE I've met right here. I'm taking my mom and boys out to eat then I am going to the movies. I've always wanted to go to the movies on Thanksgiving so perhaps this will be my new tradition :)

  • tsogles: canlestick $LIFE Could anyone who follows( knows) candlestick patterns tell me what friday's candlestick implies for LIFE. I tried looking at the candlestick tutorial and just ended up confusing the ($^&%^^@_) out of myself. Thanks, lol @Terry After further review I guess this is a Harami (two day pattern) coming after an uptrend and therefore would represent a bearish reversal pattern. Good I've been wanting to reload.
  • tsogles: @DAN $LIFE I mentioned 6% bb #squeeze yesterday. Has been behaving relatively well over recent market volatility and is up today poking its' head above the upper BB. If it closes above 49.39 it will be a new closing high and just the beginning of BB #squeeze and pop. Still in an uptrend with good weekly chart and good OBV. What are your feelings on LIFE? ANYONE following? C'mon guys, show some love..(lol)
  • tsogles: $LIFE Team While we're awaiting the Fed maybe we can revisit our old friend LIFE. Reported good earnings recently and has bounced off of long term uptrend and 50 ema. Showing up as a 6% BB #squeeze and the bands seem to be pinching. The weekly chart looks great , as does OBV. It has been up the last three days (rule?) on decreasing volume which concerns me. Is anybody else trading around a core holding in $LIFE and if so what are your thoughts? @Terry
  • tsogles: $LIFE Looks like a bullish engulfing pattern on today's bounce off of the last prior low ($45). Reported good earnings. Been holding some and added at 46 this am. I remember thinking yesterday morning that I might just have to sell this dog...funny what difference a day makes. As @Dan would remind you, it's good to stay in the game (with stops).

  • Lou: $LIFE -- showing some life. I couldn't make the 59 min trader seminar but from what I've gleaned from comments, could this be a candidate? @Lou
  • varcangelo: @DAN, Can you give a picture of why you chose $MSFT as your trade into close on Monday. Experience and art must have put together an interesting analysis. Also $LIFE can it be trusted to try to test $50. I just hate the sector. Thanks.
  • slowtime: DJ-30 down 145.03 Just an observation. If you go back exactly to September 1,2009 that day, the DJ-30 dropped 181.72. If you look at the charts of the last month, you will see a great deal of similarity. A month ago all pundits predicted back to March lows. And what happened, the $DOW reached new highs. I have a gut feeling that this time it will be the same. I bot here $BP and $VMW in addition I hold $LIFE, $JNPR,MRVL,$HAL
  • nwsvndr: $LIFE - anyone still holding this one? Has it broken support? Looks like "yes" if you draw support at the Aug highs, but "no" if you draw it at the 50 day which it tagged today. Thoughts? Thanks.
  • slowtime: @nwsvndr-LIFE considering the weakness of today's market, $LIFE is behaving quite nicely. 50 day at 45.26 today got down to 45.22 and reversed quickly. I still think we will see higher prices, if market in general improves, if not I will be out at 44.90
  • nwsvndr: Thanks; sounds reasonable. $LIFE has been bleeding lower and I've taken a stop-loss already on some of it but have another stop lower, similar to yours.
  • bobbychuck: $LIFE - stopped out of this 10 minutes before the close Friday (45.97) & now it's up 1.6 percent in pre-market. This happens to me more often than I can believe. Premarket is up a bunch, I suppose I had better not chase, but it's driving me crazy. @bobbychuck
  • maddenmg: $LIFE - was still moving up until a few min ago... Where is it going to?
  • jmcgee66: $LIFE I'm not sure if we should be dumping this pig or adding to it. Stock is in nowhere land between the 20 and 50. Just stopped out at $45.97.
  • ronaldrussell: $LIFE - I am not buying here. Just broke thru support @ $46.26, next support is @ $44.82 I can wait to see it move up.
  • jmcgee66: $LIFE Support. Had this problem before where my averages from Stockcharts didn't agree with what others were saying. I see the 50 day exp at $45.14. Pretty important to get this right if we are hanging our hat on this as the line in the sand.
  • duppal: $LIFE Looks like it found support at 46. May be the time to buy now at the start of a @ZIG.
  • Lynxer: $LIFE seems to be pulling back to test the breakout. The volume is very low today. I am looking to add shares at about $46.60. The 20sma is $46.53.
  • slowtime: $LIFE is off this morning -1% Any news to account for the drop? Would appreciate your comment.
  • jamesg: $LIFE - No news to account for anything. I guess it's just the normal ebb and flow? When it hits 50 you will probably see some selling there too.
  • reming: LIFE- Although $LIFE is a biotech company, it is different from biotech companies working on drugs and drug strategies. $LIFE came about through the joining of Invitrogen and Applied Biosystems. $LIFE actually supplies products for scientific research. I've used products from both of these companies for years. They are major suppliers to scientists throughout the world. They are not in the business of selling drugs, but supplying those who do.
  • karkn: $JNY Nathan, I got stopped out of this one today. Market was feeling toppy so I selected this particular stock to let go. This was really a matter of managing my overall portfolio. If it was the only breakout I held, I'd keep it but I have several and wanted to raise some cash. Its a wishy washy answer I know. I will be looking to jump back in given the right opportunity. Also watch @Dan's $LIFE video from tonight.
  • stockflyer: $LIFE looks ready to break to higher highs
  • bobbychuck: $LIFE - Hi, Newer member here, listening for about a week before posting. I have a question on $LIFE stops. It would appear that an appropriate sell stop would be just below $47 or breakout level, but for the target, the highest its been is $49.57 in December and $49.75 way back in 2000. That doesn't create a great risk reward ratio even in an expanding BB run, or am I missing something. Thanks, @Bob, "BC: or "@BobbyChuck"
  • David: $LIFE, @Dan said he might be a buyer this morning depending on how the market opens up. Anyone understand what that meant? If the market is up and $LIFE is up or if the market is up and $LIFE is down. If the market is down and $LIFE is up? I have a position now and looking to add. Thanks......I'm still a newbie. Probably for LIFE......pun?
  • karkn: $LIFE David, I'm also looking to add. I will be hoping for a gap down morning to add on the cheap. If I don't get that, I will look for some kind of pullback though if it doesn't happen early I will miss it as I'm on central time today (late night ...
  • shifty: $LIFE # @Dan or anyone, Could you go over the buy point on a breakout from a volatility #squeeze? Not only $LIFE but any stock breaking out from a #squeeze. In last night's video you were showing Monday's breakout. If you were watching in real time would your buy point be a few cents above the breakout price (47.13)?
  • strucman: $LIFE - Another question on this one. It's currently right at it's all-time high. Does that at all factor into how high it can go? Does anyone expect there to be some resistance soon simply because it's never gotten this high before?
  • duppal: $LIFE Jumped in this morning on the weakness. Lets see if it can pull back up.
  • barbg: LIFE--I have a couple of trading questions that I hope someone can help me with. I placed a limit order on $LIFE at 47.30. It was only partially filled. Is it better to stipulate "all or none" or do you just feel happy that you had some filled at your limit price? Second question--when @Dan says to wait for a pullback (on a fast moving stock) is he talking about intraday or is he talking about waiting for a pullback at the close and a bounce higher from there?
  • Lou: $LIFE - @barbg -- a very good investor, when I told him that I missed an entry (or a sale) at my limit price advised me "don't play that game." If the stock is close enough to your entry price (or exit -- even more important) just put in a market or ...
  • Tradervic: Good morning Team, Busy morning making adjustments and have not had time to read or keep up with the posts. Checking in. Bought: RIMM, $LIFE, $NVDA, $FSLR, Bought back some calls as things are popping. buying more calls to add to my stock positions. RIMM is looking like the play of the week for me.

  • Lamberto: Thanks for reminding me of $LIFE,I see the brakeout, but what should I be seeing in HANS?Back to the lower end of the latest 4 day range? What am I missing?
  • MartyWalker: $LIFE - Breakout on Good Volume, added a second position today.
  • Tim S: $LIFE - @DAN I'm tickled pink you went back to revisit this one. - @Tim
  • admiral1945: LIFE: @Dan's been following this one on his free chart. I presently have 1/2 of a position. I see this strong stock moving through resistance yesterday on increasing volume for the past few days. In fact, the most buying volume in months. I see support @ $45. My problem is Thompson downgrded $LIFE 9/9. This mourning I made a list of fundamental flaws with LIFE. It is a long list. Dramatically cutting employee expenses for one thing. Any comments appreciated. Thanks, ADMIRAL
  • randyz: $LIFE - I only have one thing to add to this. In the case of $LIFE, as I look back two years, it seems that the stock has already returned to the range in which it had been dwelling. I don't see it as resistance because I think it is too far back. Is there anything compelling that would make this stock run up to $75? I don't know, but at first glance, I tell myself the stock has regained previous levels and I move on. Comments, anyone? Am I leaving money on the table? I know I am tempting fate and it will jump to $50 on Monday. You can thank me later ... @Randy
  • CallaLilly: $LIFE - I think the reason we're interested in this is simply because @Dan pointed out a seriously tight situation which will have to resolve and there's an upside bias. The stock is well-held by mutual funds and is a component in several ETF's. It's ...
  • jbrack: $LIFE might have moved through resistance unless you were using the high on July 30; if you were using 47.08 as resistance the stock is still bumping up against it. I look back at $LIFE and see a high of 48.13 in April of 2008 and a high of 49.58 in December of 2007. Doesn't seem like much upside unless something exciting happens to the fundamentals. I too will be moving along without life. For me, there are too many stocks that are way below their 52 week highs.

  • joanie: $LIFE - still inching upwards, and it's above prior resistance (drawing horizontal line resistance, not mathematical one). Just an fyi. I picked some at the other day at 46.23 with a stop at 44.97 (under the prior day's low of 45.07
  • CallaLilly: $LIFE - patience, please. Wait - seriously, didn't it do this yesterday and the same thing was noted?
  • joanie: $LIFE - lol Calla, it might have been noted by me! I didn't mean to give the impression that I'm being impatient. Up is up, and that makes me happy. I guess my point was (although I see I didn't make it---ooops) that I think there's still time to get in. Trend intact but it's not a runaway train that should scare anyone from jumping on board.
  • rknight52: $LIFE Callalilly - $LIFE is great...or is it? You still following this one or in this one? It is poking it's head above resistance and the BB's seem to be starting to expand. Any thoughts here, now? Or wait for pullback?
  • joanie: $LIFE - ticking up
  • CallaLilly: $LIFE - I sold it yesterday just to raise cash because for some reason I thought we might drop. Bought it back today - a very respectable stock. It's @Dan's stock and I'm in (it is hard, lol, up high and not down low). Minor beneficiary of swine flu via testing which may add a wee bit to earnings. Well, my preference is to pick up a great stock like this down 20% on frivolous news (as I did with $AMED a few days ago on the CEO moving on out and picking it up smoothly when it fell about 23% at 31.45 and today it hit 38.11). This is a technical trade and @Dan said it might last in this place even another week before it resolved and likely to the upside with some power. Go look at the (free) videos on it.
  • karkn: $LIFE not Callalilly but I'm waiting for a poke above yesterdays high. Very close now.
  • leemuncy: @DAN $LIFE i misquoted myself yesterday. in at 46.48 really nice chart thanks for the free video $GS looks to be in that expansion we so love to catch. You said you wanted us in ahead of the rest..... THANKS @DAN! youve created one helluva community here sir! i gotta thank you for that bigtime. vegas bound 1st weekend in october!!! Lee
  • CallaLilly: $LIFE ... just like life, it requires patience. Wake up, life. It's boring me to death, oh no ..... I am surprised it's so sleepy on a nice day like today.
  • JW: PS the chart on $LIFE brings up the same dilemma for me
  • CallaLilly: $LIFE - named to Dow Jones Sustainability World Index for the second time ... and good morning.
  • joanie: ...
Entry entry entry. And I feel comofortable with the idea that there are ones that will get away from me. I meant to put an alert on VVUS. I didn't. Oh well. That'll learn me. And guess what.. as I write this my alert for $LIFE went off at 46.50!
    re ...
  • Tim S: $LIFE I got my alert when $LIFE broket through $46.55 ... it's now at $46.84 ... everyone keep an eye on this to see where it closes! - @Tim
  • leemuncy: took a bite out of $LIFE in the aftermarket after seeing the above $46.50 close. A starter position (for me thats 1/4) $46.63 'execution'style.
