- Forexpro: Re: Insurers Hi, Friends, It isn't intuitively obvious to me why full-line insurers should be (apparently) the FOMC decision, but they are having quite a good day, in general, with $AIG, $KMPR and $HIG among the leaders. I suppose that I must not understand the business model, which I understood to involve sweeping up premiums, investing them at the highest rate possible, and hoping that no one will die. Or that no teen-agers will bend a fender. Or whatever. Nonetheless, the sector - hourly chart attached - made a nice bottom, and is bouncing. Banks, as a group, are down 0.95 percent for the session, so the full-line insurers are outperforming by roughly 2.5 percent on the day, which seems like quite a lot.
