Part of it's business is transporting liquid products ...shipping rates are up 10 consecutive days now. One of the other parts of it's business is Diesel Engine Service...repairs and sells...engines, transmissions and gears ...you name they do it. They have many business segments...like barges and towing vessels. New swing Spec position going into earnings ...1/3 size for now ....earnings on 7/29/PM. As usual I'm not married to any stock ...if it turns ..I'm out.

Below is a list of a number to be considered. Bear in mind the earnings date and previous history of earnings vs the estimates before jumping in. I totally forgot about ones of these until Pat reminded me of a great move I made but I never pulled the trigger. $SSW GSL $BALT EXM $NM STNG $KEX ACLI $TK SFL $NMM SB to name a few Teekay has 4 companies that @Gary Kaminsky spoke to the CEO's of 2 of the company's on the strategy session the other day, but the outlook was positive but complicated the way the 4 are structured. So not sure how to play that company but the charts looks good on all of them I believe.
- josephcollins: 400dma ultra deep pullbacks. As I alluded to in a previous post, over the weekend I did a scan of stocks below the 200 but above the 400 dma. A bunch of energy names showed up where the 400 seemed relevant on vicious sell-offs. $BRY, $SLB, $CHK, $BTU, $CNX, $DVN, $HOS, $DRQ, $KEX, CVA. Some of these names have bounced significantly, others still linger near the 400. I'd be curious to know if any of the more experienced traders ever look at MA's longer than 200...

Only one solar (SOL.) The stock has gone from $8 to $26 in a couple of months so the amount of momentum still remaining is a bit speculative.

Look for low volume pullbacks. Trimmed $KEX and $MRVL this a.m.

- DAN: @Bob, I'm not trying to be vague, but I am talking about the concept of avoiding chasing stocks that are so obviously overbought that the only thing to say about them is: "Well, I missed that trade." But here are some tickers that might demonstrate what I'm talking about: FRE, FNM, CFC, CTX, $PHM, $JPM, $MBI, $MS, $LEN, $HRB, $WM, $DHI, $CBG, $C, CC, $BAC, $GGP, LEH, $KBH, LIZ, $DRI, $KIM, and WB. That's a decent list of stocks that illustrate my point. OThers are $KEX, $BLK, $ISRG, $CNQR, $VRTX, $EBAY, $SHLD, $LVLT, $EXPD and $PCLN (though $PCLN does look compelling if it has more time to consolidate). Hope that helps.

Ken - welcome. Speaking purely personally, I appreciate brief to-the-point commentary on most topics. If I am not interested I scroll past (what I did with the recent HSOA stuff). I suppose a parallel thread - something like "Micro-caps on Monday, October 8, 2007" would give focus without diluting the day's main thread. @Dan will doubtless guide us on this, as with so many matters of the evolving style here.
