  • woodman: Some #Steel stocks moving or holding up decently. See $STLD $GGB. Some are moving up through middle part of "W" resistance area - See $NUE (flag above this area); $X (moving through it today). Keep an eye on $ZEUS as a potential phase 3 move back up. (Among these, I have only NUE.)

  • Wolf: $GGB Up 6.7% off the 50DMA. Has cleared short term resistance. Long starter.
  • Wolf: $GGB UP 2% off the 50DMA, low risk buy. Started a position @ 4.82. Only concern is steel tarifs as their products are steel.
  • JonSeale: @Wolf $GGB Hmmm...well, they also mine in the USA evidently. So, what does this mean? Does that mean the tariffs only from outside the US are penalized? Couldn't the company just sell steel to US that was mined in US in order to avoid the tariffs? That way, it could sell the rest to the remainder of the world.
  • JonSeale: @Wolf $GGB Hey, has Dan talked about this stock? It does look like a low risk entry point here like you stated. But this stock is under $5! That's a dangerous thing imo.
  • Wolf: @JonSeale $GGB Not that I know of. As long as you manage your risk, the reward can be really good on a low cost stock.
  • rachel: ...
    21. $GGB – breaking out above resistance…but this has run a LOT off $3.00. Massive volume today. Not sure what that’s all about. Upgrade? Lots of “strong buy” recos.

  • donnolley: Assuming you bought and held till now @Dan's 2009 Brazil ideas: So far, as far as his 2009 Brazil video goes , @Dan has been "wrong" on $EWZ, $PBR, $GGB, $SID, $VALE, $EBR, $ENI, BTM and CBD. But @Dan would have ben "right" on $CPL (though he suggested not to buy), $ERJ and $BRFS (though he suggested not to buy at the time). This is not to suggest @Dan is a bad stock picker as he is quite willing to admit he's wrong. Looking at those charts, it seems to me this is a better time to assess these tickers going forward in view of the 2016 olympics in Brazil.

  • brwnilocks: $AKS - a drag on my portfolio today. Looked at some other stocks I have grouped into "steel" watch list. $AKS - looks like gathering more strength before possible further upside. No concern yet, but watching closely. $CLF - in a holding pattern. $GGB - weak, still trading sideways to down. $STLD - still trading sideways, looks poised to move higher. Earnings on 10/18 after bell. $VALE - strongest of this bunch, follow through higher after a little pullback. $X - still consolidating as it moves sideways.
  • jmscap: EWZ/Brazil -- $EWZ did well today. One of the few green on the screen today. I wonder if were seeing some sector rotation to Latin America. • lizwaite: TAM..... dze... Hi and welcome :) @Dan did a very detailed inventory of Brazilian stocks worthy of attention in December of 09..... here are the ones he mentioned: EWZ: $ETF for Brazil $PBR, $GGB (metals/mining), $SID (steel/iron), $VALE, $EBR (electric), $CPL (pretty low volume stock), $ENI, BTM (telecom), $ERJ (defense), $CBD (grocery store chain), $BRFS (grocery store chain) Hope this is helpful for you :)Liz Check out the "sector spotlight" archives (left side of the home page).... December 12, 2009 is the video for you, @Dan discusses the above stocks......
  • bobode: $GGB - this is a question for the ancient and wise ones on the board... I currently have a small position in $GGB and am thinking to add more because I believe there is more upside to this stock. Currently it is at the end of a nice volatility #squeeze run up... Question is when should one add more to this position or should I take what I have made and wait for a pull back of some type? Thanks for you wisdom wise ones.... a newbie...
  • slowtime: $GGB - bobode I would take profits on 1/2 position, because: 1. The stock will have to chew thru the "I want my money back crowd" when they bought at the high last January. 2. The whole market looks like it is coming down and will close lower. @slowtime
  • bobode: $GGB - Thanks for the info - appreciate it very much...

  • kirk999: Nothing like waking from the sound of scraping metal and a vibrating foundation to remind me to check my stops. Plows working hard tonight in Portland Maine. $IBM is down after hours, the us dollar looks to be up like me $GGB - the Brazilian real is down and people are already worried about the october election ? I have a stop at just below 16, but not expecting much here, might be time to head for a different metal stock. Hey like $X or $CLF which docked yesterday to let people on board but I was too busy sitting on my Brazilian iron ore, might still be mostly dreaming, good morning.
  • cafepronto: $SID Looks to be a buy on the weekly chart and holding right at the top of the 20 DMA on the daily. Will start a small position. Should also be a major beneficiary of the World Cup which will be held in Brazil, in 2014. Happy to learn through tonight's @Dan's video about J.C.'s endorsement of $GGB, which is one of my current holdings - seemed to have jumped in after hours ... Andr#
  • marian: $GGB - @DAN you mentioned on video last night. Opinions this am.
  • btebeau: $GGB - @Dan, I read the Mad Money recap and it did not mention GGB. Did @JC recommend it last night? I never saw any Mad Money pop from it. I bought an initial position in $GGB several days ago after reviewing all of the stocks from your video on Brazil. I thought breaking through $17.50 was key after it had provided resistance multiple times since October. Are the 20 DMA and 50 DMA more important as support here?

  • richard9f: $GGB Meanstreet, does $SID look like it will play catch-up here after the announced acquisition of Cimpor (cement)? From marketwatch: Cimpor is within the top 10 world largest cement manufacturer in terms of market cap. • TLawrie: $GGB - Thanks @Jeff. Smaller position sizes make sense to me. I use the spreadsheet that @Dan/@Gary gave us after the 59 Minute Trader seminar and typically open with a 33% position. That size is determined by my presumed stop of course which I determine using @Dan's teachings. If I get stopped out a lot, this implies my stop is too tight - duh! But since I think I'm setting them per @Dan's teachings, what would you do? I presume lower position and looser stop? How do you determine a looser stop from a chart? For example, take $NTAP today - Monday, 12/21 @ 9:30 AM Pacific time. If I were to enter, I'd go right below the low of 12/11. The low was $32.65, so I'd use, say. $32.63. What would you use and why? Thanks for letting me pick your brain. This issue is driving me crazy!

I assume you are you using the 5 minute chart to

  • joanie: Brazil stocks and weekend video -- Keep in mind that #Cramer mentioned some of these on Friday afternoon so there may be an artificial pop on some (in case anyone was thinking about a #RHRN moment). edit: $GGB is however in a tight BB #squeeze (.07), so it might be ready to go on its own anyway
  • DChristian: Yeah, I hold a little $SID and I wonder if I should have opted for $GGB instead.
  • richard9f: $XLI Digging through this etf, up 2.7% for the week. $UTX and $ITRI could be breaking out. $SLX - big move for the week, up 6.3%. Looks like the steel producers are moving up and the ore miners maybe consolidating after their run up. The potential breakouts of $SID and $GGB have me watching.
  • LaurieAnn: Brazil- don't forget $GGB and SID. Both very nice. LA
  • ronaldrussell: $GGB - Vol #squeeze starting to break out - looking for a little pull back today to get in.
  • richard9f: $GGB $SID looks identical, trying to crack resistance at 36. I bought a starter yesterday.
  • maddenm86: $GGB, $MTL, AKam, making nice moves higher
  • maddenm86: I'v been long both $MTL and $GGB nice call action in $GGB, $MTL has just been a stud
  • joanie: $GGB MTL --both look great, but a little rich for my blood given how high they are above the 50 ema. $MTL might actually have an entry if you look at the 10 sma. It seems to have been bouncing off that. That's assuming that the thesis is that it may go parabolic. Thanks @Dennis and TNT (should we call you "Boomer"? lol.. cool handle)
  • Plenitude: James, @Bob I would love to see some coverage on China and Brazil My 2 cents - CHINA: add $STP, $SOHU, $BIDU, AOB, $HNP BRAZIL: $GGB, $SID, $BBD, $ITUB, $VALE and $PBR (already mentioned) Compare what the SP500 and Dow have gained with the IBOVESPA since end 2008. I was in up to early May ding very nicely. I have been going against the grain since... and wrong. Get with the flow! PS I will go on a rampage if the SP breaks down at 950!!!
  • orthodoc: Had sold $FLO before earnings, but picked up a little this morning when they missed by 1 cent. Long term trend intact, no change to sell onP/F chart, so picked some up. Also dabbled in $GGB and ERJ. Good article on steel in realmoney yesterday that showed steel demand is still up. @Dan, hope your mom is doing ok. Thanks @Bob for $ATR tutorial.
  • cgendro1: $SID, $RIO and $GGB are moving up. $SID up over 2. All have stochs crossovers to upside from oversold. $RIO is doing a secondary the end of this month. $PBR making a move as well........all this is to say that energy and materials as sectors are on the move again from their short lived albeit painful rotation.
  • iancleghorn: $EWZ iShares Brazil (EWZ) seems to be bouncing off resistance. That could be because the Brazilians are feeling mellow today or because two big components $PBR (23%) and $RIO (22%) are doing the mood management. Their charts, not surprisingly, look like EWZ. $RIO is in the Metals and Mining sector. The other two metals components, $SID (3%) and $GGB (2%) are up a bit from recent lows. The Brazilian banks, $BBD (5%), ITU (4%) and UBB (3%) are all moving off the bottom of a congestion box (at least today). $ABVC (4%) which is making a run at Budweiser, and the only non oil/ metal/ bank stock in the top ten is also moving off resistance Time to place a small bet, I think @Ian
  • DAN: Trading Idea: Just saw a note from TradeTheNews.com that Navellier has added $ATVI, $GGB, $MA and $OXY as new buys on his Blue Chip Growth newsletter. This is widely followed. I doubt this information has been disseminated much because most subscribers of the Blue Chip newsletter work for a living. They'll buy on Monday.
  • cgendro1: @bvr_murthy- I was struck by the Steel and Iron chart from a weekly perspective. A few I will watch are $MTL, $SID, $GGB, $AKS, $MT, $MM,CRS. I looked at all in weekly and daily timeframes. The one I am most inclined towards is MM. $MM and $AKS have leading money flows on the Worden software. I also looked at the Oil and Gas Pipeline group. $ENB got smashed and on a weekly chart looks to be at a good buy area. $WMB and CPNO also have some interest I am also looking at the the oil and gas drilling and exploration group. I would like $ATW and $RIG on pullbacks. Oil and gas equipment services is building a base which I intend to watch for breakout. As for light sweet crude, appears to be heading to 85 barring any major political unrest
