  • joelsg1: @curtis $SPY $DXY $SN $SONO $TSLA $F Cybertruck bed is 51x72, what bike do you have? Also, friend was at event yesterday and drove it, all they had was beast mode, super fast 0-60 in 2.6 sec., 4 wheel steering, air suspension, super quiet, he couldn't track all the electronic bells/whistles. Mid-level AWD 4.1 sec, $79.9 less the $7500 credit coming before delivery. Beat the F-350 diesel towing. Musk said it'll fit typical 20-foot garage. I want it.
  • shoredriver: $F....possible deal with the odious UAW...
  • joelsg1: $TSLA Why is this up today? $F and $GM combined sold 41k EVs in Q3 and lost money on each. $TSLA sold 435k in Q3 and made nearly $10k per vehicle in 2022 and probably more per vehicle this year. ($RIVN on path but not yet profitable.) Long.
  • Docoof: @joelsg1 $TSLA $F $GM $RIVN This is a little far-fetched, but I think it also has a lot to do with this: https://x.com/elonmusk/status/1709592361481777360?s=46&t=R7IHRtfFyLf0cyPMxREPjw
  • joelsg1: @Docoof $TSLA $F $GM $RIVN Yes. Always think the stock price is to at least some extent a barometer on Musk.
  • woodman: @Docoof $TSLA $F $GM $RIVN - It's a step in the right direction, and I am happy to see it. I sincerely hope this is just the beginning and that Musk/X management keep moving forward with this by doing more and more to combat hate, racism and anti-Semitism on the site and anywhere Musk mingles.
  • woodman: $TSLA $F $GM $RIVN ... and hopefully a move away from stuff like this. https://www.npr.org/2023/10/04/1203339945/elon-musk-neo-nazi-defamation-lawsuit-ben-brody
  • champ: @woodman $TSLA $F $GM $RIVN ....#OT....Most everybody is happy that Musk is finally suing for all of that disinformation, that keeps being posted all over the place, all the Musk haters keep posting disinformation it seems, over and over.
  • Docoof: @woodman $TSLA $F $GM $RIVN We’re in agreement. The difficulty lies in evaluating Musk’s intentions with respect to the problems you mention. There is a passage in the new biography that, in my opinion, illustrates a significant part of this difficulty: “When X was born, Musk took a picture of Grimes having a C-section and sent it around to friends and family, including her father and brothers. Grimes was understandably horrified and scrambled to get it deleted. ‘It was Elon‘s Asperger‘s coming out in full,’ she says. ‘He was just clueless about why I’d be upset.’” (None of this is meant to provide an excuse or justification for anything he’s done, whether good or bad.)

  • Henry: $ALB rumors on Twitter $XOM is in early-stage talks with automakers including $TSLA, $F and $VWAGY) about supplying them with #lithium for electric vehicles #EVs. $ALB is said to be among the lithium producers $XOM is talks with. $ALB jumps.
  • Margi1983: @Henry $ALB $XOM $TSLA $F $VWAGY #lithium #EVs That is somewhat funny. $XOM created the early solar panels, a company called Daystar in Mass., only to shut it down in the 80's or 90's. They also made some of the very early lithium metal batteries at their R & D center in New Jersey, only to never commercialize this technology as well... they really just like oil and gas, but they now must see climate change as a real issue now.
  • Geewhiz: @Henry $ALB $XOM $TSLA $F $VWAGY #lithium #EVs Exxon Mobil Corp XOM has intended to construct one of the largest lithium processing plants in Arkansas, with a capacity to produce 75K–100K metric tons of lithium annually, according to a report from The Wall Street Journal. The company anticipates that the plant's production would be equivalent to around 15% of the finished lithium produced globally in the previous year.
  • champ: @Geewhiz $ALB $XOM $TSLA $F $VWAGY #lithium #EVs .....thats a lot of tons, in the U.S. but it is going to take some time to build their new #processing-plant, before their first shipment.....did they say how long it was going to take to build..??...... ..... however $SGML, their #News is....that they just shipped their first shipment out of their new mine and it was for 30,000 tons, on just their first shipment.......so it looks like the tonnage is going to be really picking up, worldwide. I guess they need mines, to supply their lithium processing plant, that must be how it works, is that right... because I sure don't know, if thats the way it works. $PLL and $SGML...for now, I'm currently holding positions in both of these stocks.
  • debeers: $F-ford margins slip even further down. Icky. NP
  • vitoB: def did not have $INTC $ROKU $F beat a raise, and $LVE be the worst performance...man estimates are low
  • joelsg1: @debeers $TSLA Kinda stating the obvious, like can't commit to no new price drops with interest rates increasing, and plant upgrades will reduce Q3 production--these are the negatives causing selling ah. On the other hand, positives are 1. in talks to license FSD (a product that some doubt would ever exist) to at least one OEM (my guess $F but when the dominoes fall like with Supercharger access, they all fall), 2. CyberTruck deliveries start this year with mass production next year, and 3. large Q over Q auto cost reductions. Long and medium term stellar, short term whipsaw.
  • Docoof: #News $F * Ford on Monday announced significant price cuts for all versions of its electric F-150 Lightning pickup. * The cheapest version of the Lightning will now start at about $50,000, a roughly $10,000 cut. * All versions of the EV will get price cuts of at least $6,000 as Ford works to boost production this fall. https://www.cnbc.com/amp/2023/07/17/ford-f-150-lightning-ev-price-cuts.html

  • joelsg1: @Cjauger $TSLA Not crowded right now whenever I use, granted mostly on the freeway because home charge, but the car directs you to the best uncrowded charger in realtime. And we're talking miniscule quantities of $F and $GM for now. Tesla runs its Supercharger network like a separate business and will use the cash flow to continue to grow their network. The more income-producing chargers, the better.
  • Henry: @joelsg1 $TSLA $F $GM Fast Money talked about a huge number of dissatisfied non-Tesla owners with their charging stations. 20 plus% $CHPT taking the dive.
  • DrScience: $F Have you driven a Ford lately? (Only in the market... Never on the road!)
  • debeers: $F/$TSLA-If you want proof of a theory -l look at this---When you have a Ford or GM you have a product very dependent on the economy.IMO-- $TSLA isn't a car company, Tesla is a tech company who makes its own chips and will ultimately be the choice for ride companies such as an Uber for example.
  • debeers: @joelsg1 $TSLA -Its like folks need to constantly be reminded that $TSLA is a tech company and $F is a car company.
  • joelsg1: $TSLA In the last few minutes minutes before close, reported that $F Farley said something at a conference about being way behind $TSLA, Chief Obvious, but stock moved.
  • debeers: $F-for trucks/ $TSLA for cars--IMO around 5.59 or so will give some gains in $F. Anything higher isn't worth it.
  • debeers: @debeers $F $TSLA -Correction: 12.59 for max to pay for $F. IMO
  • joelsg1: $TSLA They have treated their Supercharger network as a separate business with increasing profit margins, and now with the $F deal we can see why, though details elusive. Megapacks too. Both will goose E now and beyond. Proving once again this is much more than another car company. Long and added small to posted July call spreads capturing next E 7/19.

All that monthly revcenue going into Elon's pocket.

  • Docoof: $F $TSLA Fwiw, Farley and Musk live together on Twitter spaces. “Accelerating EV Adoption.”
  • Docoof: @Docoof $F $TSLA — $F will partner with $TSLA on several charging initiatives for its current and future electric vehicles in an unusual tie-up between the two rivals, CEOs of the automakers announced Thursday. The deal includes current Ford owners being granted access to 50% of Tesla’s coveted Supercharger network, followed by Ford’s next-generation of EVs that are expected by mid-decade to include Tesla’s charging plug. The design will allow owners of the vehicles to charge at Tesla superchargers without an adaptor, making Ford the first to do so. The initiatives were announced by Ford CEO Jim Farley and Tesla CEO Elon Musk during a live, audio discussion on Twitter, which Musk currently leads. The CEOs announced the surprise discussion earlier in the afternoon.

  • joelsg1: $TSLA Price cuts don't look great for auto margins (though absurd $F and $GM up), but IMO dwarfed by weekend news of new megapacktory in China this year and ramping next. When ramped and combined with existing Lathrop CA plant, should provide annual revenues at higher margins exceeding total auto business. That's Big news. We'll get the first clue at E on 4/19 how well Lathrop is doing. BTW, I'm having a "medical procedure" on 4/19 and when I awake E will be over, so unless I propofol-post no participation here from me then.

  • champ: $TSLA $GM $F....the EV Tax Credits will go into Effect on January 1, 2023 and that a big deal, that should help EV-Sales........
  • Docoof: @champ $TSLA $GM $F Bloomberg reported the following about five minutes ago: The US Treasury Department is delaying final rules on electric-vehicle tax credits in President Joe Biden's signature climate bill until March of next year. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2022-12-29/treasury-delays-final-rules-on-manchin-ev-tax-credit-to-march
  • joelsg1: @Docoof $TSLA $GM $F Rules evolving, as shown by reinstating lease credit for EVs made outside US in Korea, the EU and Japan. https://www.reuters.com/business/autos-transportation/us-treasury-says-consumer-leases-can-qualify-ev-tax-credits-2022-12-29/
  • champ: @Docoof $TSLA $GM $F ....Yes they waited until almost the End, to delayed that new Bill and all the dealers will be very upset.....looks like these folks don't know what's going on or how to get more sales moving..... ......however until then the #existing-rules... that grant #Tax-credits based on the size off the EV-battery will still apply....and I guess that works for $TSLA and also, all the others.
  • jonwest88: @debeers $SIVB Back in October their (SIVB mgt) forecasts for avg deposits ending 2022 drops to 168-172 from ~185 now. Net interest income drops to 1 - 1.05 from 1.25 TheNet int margin which had been 2.25 and higher is to drop to 1.95 - 2.05 That is odd considering many think as rates rise this percentage would rise giving them more profits. I still hold a good chunk of SIVB and have for the past four years. This stock really got shmeised. It's been basing between 207 and 247 since October. This stock will look more expensive, like a cyclical in the bottom of a rout. Reopen? Not sure what you mean. We can speculate what if China reopens and then $TSLA, $SBUX, $EL, $F, and a host of others will benefit. But the USA Has been open, or what did we miss?
  • joelsg1: $TSLA Annoying to see talking heads on CNBC saying $TSLA should be valued on a P/E basis like a car company, like $F and $GM at 5 P/E. Leaving aside the sales and EPS growth rates and multiple non-auto shots on goal, energy generation and storage, software and even robotics, consider the Altman Z score, developed by NYU Stern professor Edward Altman in the 1960s as a quantifiable predictor of impending bankruptcy for manufacturing companies with an impressive track record. A score below 1.8 is bad, signifying impending bankruptcy, above 3 safe from BK. GM and F score around 1.2, $RIVN around 1.6, $LCID 0.2, while $TSLA currently scores above 8. On this basis alone, there are ample reasons why $F and $GM have low single digit P/Es, not shared by $TSLA.
  • marklesparkle: @joelsg1 $TSLA $F $GM $RIVN $LCID Well said man thanks
  • ruskinq2: @joelsg1 $TSLA $F $GM $RIVN $LCID its also an Artifical Intelligence company...the cars are constantly gathering information about their surroundings and contributing to the "hive mind" which all Teslas then share, and soon to be linked together thorough the Starlink satellite network instead of just regular data...not to mention my Tesla drives me home from the bar, by itself.
  • Docoof: @joelsg1 $TSLA $F $GM $RIVN $LCID Jim Lebenthal was complaining today that people think Tesla is a technology company. He said: “It is not a technology company. It bends metal into the shape of a car. It happens to be cobalt, lithium, instead of steel. Big deal. It is not a technology company.” (32:30 on the podcast, if you want some entertainment.)
  • joelsg1: @Docoof $TSLA $F $GM $RIVN $LCID Saw it, one of the steady drone of people which annoyed me, although as I've posted before, there's a reason why the steady drone is on, which in olden days was a contrary indicator but these days ????? Don't really care what kind of company bin they shoehorn this into, just want it to trade on the numbers and prospects and TAM.
  • vcondry: $F my dad just showed me a hideous chart on Ford if you bought it on January 20th 1987 for $11.36 and held it for 35 years this past Friday December 23rd it was guess where... $11.36 passive investing individual stocks is not the way.
  • vcondry: @steve71 $F $SPY heck yes.
  • steve71: @vcondry $F $SPY Buy and Hold the indices is a safer bet than trying to pick one stock. 35 years ago, say Jan 1, 1986, the SPY was 575. Today it's 3,830. With dividends componded by reinvesting in shares the return is OK.
  • debeers: @vcondry $F -that is amazing. Thanks for sharing that
