• Suz: $ES, $SPX Sell programs ran at the top of the hour for the past 3 hours. The trade is thin and ES 1931 is the point of control (20 points below). I am short SPY via Sept 190 puts, , DIA via Sept 162 puts and MBLY via Oct 50 puts. I do think we go retest last weeks lows.
• Suz: $ES $SPX, If we close in this formation it will be a reversal candle and a lower high. BANK is printing big red slasher bars and $TICK is getting jiggy looks like an EKG on black molly. Of course we will have the requisite end of day push up but ES 1947 makes the sellers come out and 1950 is a battleground. I trade SPY using the ES chart.
• rah: @Suz $ES $SPX $TICK - Hi Suz, great to see you dropping in. Hope you are well and have been profiting, esp. over the last few weeks. I closed my positions today (SPY using /ES as well) making just enough for a few buckets of bait for the holiday weekend. I was looking for a larger sell off, but that will not be here. Best wishes, rah
• Suz: @rah $ES $SPX $TICK Hi Rah, I read everyday just don't say much. It is very good to hear from you and I hope you are doing well!!
• mradams0621: $ES @Forexpro You long on this last pullback?
• Suz: $ES 2109 area resistance area on ES we are trading 2104.25 next up 2111 we are at a double fib cluster right now
• Suz: $ES pivot resistance remains 2130 with 2134 as the all time high
• Suz: $ES/VIX Remember the VIX futures settle on the open tomorrow and the cash is still below the future so some of this funky action we are seeing is due to that. In addition, 2130 was a big number on the $ES, a 61.8% fib target so I am not surprised to see a little back and fill here. The daily bollies are still straight up so I am not getting too excited about a pullback after 3 up days in the futures. In addition the oil contract rolled from June to July so lots of behind the scenes action going on. We are seeing the matching of the vix happening now as the future is 13.28 and the cash is 13.05. Watch it, it is fascinating.
• Suz: $ES/SPY Funky action this came out a little bit ago: Varoufakis just tweeted the following: "The troika Interior rejected our proposals on VAT. The Brussels Group but will discuss tomorrow and Thursday in Brussels!!!
• Suz: $ES we are at the buystop run area but it is still unclear if the market makers will make a push this late in the day. We spent quite a bit of time at 2109, 2116.75 starts the run area with levels all the way up to 2138. Currently the imbalances are better for sale in number with financials and materials on the buyside on some volume but the rest on the sell side. I used today to raise a lot of cash - not out of the markets just a little leaner and meaner :)
• Suz: $ES (emini S&P futs) are stuck below a double fib cluster and have been stuck there all day. There is also a quad top in the 2113 range that we have banged 8 times in 16 sessions. We are not going anywhere until we can get above that range with some oomph and that wont be today as the imbalances are currently better for sale with Telco's and Industrials leading and Energy and Drugs on the buyside. Of course these are super early imbalances and they can easily pare off but just a warning to be careful out there. It is a market of stocks again not a stockmarket. Choose carefully.
• Iceman: @Suz $ES - nice to see you posting
• jimster1: $SPY I see the run we've and the $ES up 22 points, and I just want to short the open with everything I have. I won't...but that's the way feel. I always have trouble trusting these big gaps...seems like I am always on the wrong side, regardless. Confident the #59MinuteTrade Event will help with that.
• Forexpro: Re: E-mini Futures Hi, Friends, After some sideways drift, the $ES contract has taken off again. It's pretty overbought now, particularly ahead of a long weekend, and my assumption is that the buyers who aren't covering shorts will be sellers in the final half hour to an hour. Support looks likely at the Fibo confluence around 1830.50, There hasn't been much of a pullback; I've done a couple of trades, but feel as though I should have quite a bit more to show for them: http://tos.mx/amWPIG Hope the day is going well; all the best.

• Forexpro: Re: Futures Hi, Friends, The E-mini futures have struggled back to the bottom of the Value Area established yesterday (1682.75, from a low of 1673.25). This may be partially due to reports that the President will be meeting with Congressional leaders to "urge an end to the shutdown". This doesn't strike me as a slam dunk, and I am short from 1682.50. I'm looking for 3 points of downside, $150/contract; I haven't decided on a stop yet, but probably 1684.75. Hope the day is going well; all the best. P.S. Out at 1683.50, giving back some of the day's gains. More of an experiment than a trade; using my normal methodology, the $ES has been in an uptrend for most of the day, and I should have been zagging, not zigging.

• Forexpro: Re: Markets Hi, Friends, The market internals that I keep on the screen (up volume minus down volume, advance/decline, TICK) all just hit their lows for the session, but the levels themselves are just in "low neutral" territory, and there doesn't seem to be any follow through in price. The $ES futures that I spend most of my time glaring at have traded 1687.75 to 1680.75, with the low coming in the past minute. So, a slight downward bias, but nothing major, thus far, and I haven't done a trade as yet. A bounce back to 1684.25 might get me interested in a quick short. Hope the day is off to a good start; all the best. P.S. 70% of the day's volume in the contract has taken place between 1681.50 and 1684.25. • Forexpro: Re: China Hi, Friends, According to MarketWatch, the Shanghai composite dipped as low as 1850 intrasession before bouncing back to finish only down 3.73 at 1959.51. The Nikkei didn't do as well (-93.44, or 0.72%), but that hasn't been the driving force for good or ill. Europe is looking solidly higher, with the FTSE up 1.03%, and the $CAC and DAX doing better, at +1.6% and +1.66% at the moment, respectively. We do have some U.S. data due today; durable goods (exp. +3%) at 8:30 EDT, followed by consumer confidence (exp. 75.2) and new home sales (0.463 is the consensus call) at 10:00 EDT. All are May numbers. At the moment, the $ES futures are at 1575.75, up 9.50. • Forexpro: Re: Futures, @Bigbartabs Hi, @Bigbartabs, The only advantage to looking at the futures that I can think of is that the E-mini contract trades almost 24 hours daily. It also tends to react pretty quickly to stimuli. There are a lot of reasons why people buy stocks and the big (SP) index, but the $ES is pretty much a pure reflection of speculative juices, and from time to time it can precede moves in the cash. I make reference to it here from time to time during the trading day because it's what I work with for the most part, and the correlation with the cash indices is very close. No big deal, really, it's just a closely related, but derivative instrument. Hope you're doing well; all the best.

• Forexpro: Re: Futures Hi, Friends, Not much doin'; since the 10 AM EDT high in the $ES futures at 1658.50, the low has been 1652.50. High $TICK, ToS variety, has been +658, low -659, and the bulk of the action has been +600 to -500. A pretty good day for time decay, and selling puts strikes me as generally the easy way to go, suggesting that is about over. My most consistently accurate warning signal is the warm feeling of complacency that comes from looking at a nice group of winning trades ("Wow, this is great! What could possibly go wrong on such a beautiful day?"), and I cut positions in half whenever I become aware of it. I'm not there yet, you'll be relieved to hear. :) Here's hoping that the day is going well; all the best. P.S. Just to spite me, the E-minis popped to 1659.25 while I was typing. Back to 1657 now, though.

• Big D: Good Morning! May your day be green. I sure need mine to be. Last night @Forexpro posted an interesting comment after everyone went to bed regarding China. (China tickers to watch: USX--X, SSEC-X (from @Dan last night)) Posted by @Forexpro, Tuesday, May 07,2013, 10:27 PM, Re: China Good Evening Friends, Bloomberg reports that Chinese exports rose by 14.7% in April, with imports up 16.8%, both higher than the consensus estimates. Looking at AUD/USD and the $ES futures, the reaction appears to be, um, muted, with Aussie not even 0.4% above yesterday's low vs USD. Have a good night.

• Skinflint: $ES Futures - Hi gang. I was wondering, what is the ticker for the $ES Mini Futures? I try to type "ES Mini" on freestockcharts.com but nothing comes up. Anybody know? Thanks!!!
• mofaux: $ES futures. On TOS the symbol is /ES. Your broker should be able to give you the symbol in your system. Almost all brokers have a symbol even if they don't trade futures.
• woodman: $ES - watch it here. It broke out last Friday above the 200 day after a fairly lengthy consolidation (which followed a nice breakout in early August). Today (actually starting end of day yesterday) we are seeing a pullback and what looks like Phase 2 following a failure to move above resistance at 3.64 (high on 6/8). It is testing the 200 day now and who knows if that will hold. I do have a small position already, but not adding yet. I'm just watching it. The 50 day would look like a good place to load up if the 200 day fails to hold.
• woodman: $ES - continuing breakout through and above the 200 day. It's been consolidating a while since its last big breakout in August, so perhaps this could go a while?? That said, there's near term resistance. Long ES.
• woodman: $ES - nice earnings beat on top and bottom lines last week, following which it broke out above the 200 day. The strong move continues today. I had been in and gotten out, so I've missed this move. Friday was the day to buy it. It's volatile and easy to get shaken out of. If you're in -- or aiming to be in -- this one, you have to be patient, which I've learned the hard way.

• woodman: $ES - It looks like you can buy anything right now and watch it go up, but I wanted to mention this one. Energy Solutions is involved with the Fukushima nuclear disaster clean up. It's been working since finding a base and long consolidation from June into mid-August. It popped big out of vol #squeeze in August, then consolidated again, and now looks like it's popping to the upside again out of this next v/s. It's flirting with some resistance, such as the top where it gapped down to on 6/11, and ultimately the 200 day above that, but the 200 day would still a very nice gain from where it is right now. Anyway, thought I'd mention it. FD - Long.
