  • grcjr: Many of the #YIELDHOGS are "accidental high yielders". Prices are down. YIELDs are up. Stocks may be working up I'm watching. Added a couple nibbles. 3 examples (moving as I attempt to capture) Ticker gaintoday YIELD $CIM +12.88% 17.42% $MITT 12.9% 20.8% $MYMT $11.04% 18.02% To me, looks a bit more risky than normal
  • sgiseller: @grcjr $CIM $MITT $MYMT #YIELDHOGS My problem with the high yielders is that they all seem to drop more than the div or other than cash flow, they all wind up loosers, dependant on entry of course Just bought some $MITT
  • Doug1: @grcjr $NLY $BCSF $CIM $MITT $GSBD $AGNC $NRZ #YIELDHOGS Thanks for posting!!
  • grcjr: #YIELDHOGS @JAN2138 several tickers to look at. I have not spent enough time on these as yet ... Yield is not the only important number. DivX today (6/29/99) Ticker, Yield $NLY 14.74% $BCSF, 14.74% $CIM, 14.98$ (watch this. They closed a recent offering that may not yet be posted.) $MITT, 12.12% $GSBD, 10.54% $AGNC, 12.77% DivX tomorrow June 30 $NRZ, 10.18% DivX Friday, July 1 $TWO, 13.57 Others with a smaller dividend can also be worth owning. Note: I generally only post #YIELDHOGS on StockMarketMentor.
  • RedLeaf1: @grcjr $NLY $BCSF $CIM $MITT $GSBD $AGNC $NRZ $TWO #YIELDHOGS #YIELDHOGS Thanks for this post and the one on 6/10/2022.
  • Wykeman: @grcjr $NLY $BCSF $CIM $MITT $GSBD $AGNC $NRZ $TWO #YIELDHOGS #YIELDHOGS $JEPI has nice daily volume. Good divey. Very nice basket of dividend paying stocks. You can trade this also.
  • Ajax4Hire: @Forexpro $GS $JPM $C $WFC $TTWO $ZNGA Interest Rate hikes, four(4) predicted this year. Makes me look toward fixed-income REITs like: $NLY(11%), $AGNC(9.5%), $WHF(9%), $CIM(8.7%) APR. (But not $ORC, too painful)
  • sierramp: June high seems to be resistance for $CIM. I'm not holding over ER on 11-3-21. $CLM has been a cash register for me, I'm staying there. It has a 14.08% / 16.02¢ MONTHLY div.
  • sierramp: $CIM #Yieldhog 8.47% New 52 week high. Rev growth rate last 4 qtrs 1837%, Gross margin 100%, ROE 20.8%, EPS % change2 qtrs back +125.96%, 1 qtr back 262.16%. Has been basing for 5 months. ER 11-3-21 More volume would be good but I did get back in this yieldhog. @rnrdallas1939 mentioned this one Oct 11th when I brought up $CLM, another cash machine.
  • sierramp: @rnrdallas1939 $CLM $CIM #YIELDHOG Thanks for bringing up $CIM, nice margin and EPS growth. Pivot 15.77
  • rnrdallas1939: @sierramp $CLM #YIELDHOG thanks for the reminder. Love that monthly pay. Another good "C" word $CIM. Not as high a div but really behaves it's self.

  • Wykeman: $CIM I posted my add last week. Up 3-4% since then. Not a volatile winner, but with 9% yield it has been a winner along with $NLY. Long both from much lower.

  • Wykeman: $CIM Added today. Nice fat yield. Longterm
  • Wykeman: $CIM NH 9% yield.

  • grcjr: @DrScience $O #Yieldhogs - Hey Doc. Appreciate your posts. This hog has very high ratings by Recognia and others. The div has been rock solid. Of the past three earnings they missed on all but two only missed by a penny. The third missed by $0.28. I'm amazed that the div was not hit by the virus. The yield on this is 4.39%, less than several of our "hogs" but appears to be a solid selection. March is a great month to be watching hogs. There were several already past xdiv. Ones I'm watching after xdiv include $EARN with a 9.05% yield, $BCSF at 9.07%, $CIM at 9.61%, $GSBD 9.28%, $NLY at $10.27%, $PSEC at 9.34%, several more. I will be watching to add to a few on pullbacks.

I will admit that the folks at the fund whose portfolio manager first mentioned the ticker to me refer to it as "(S)inking (F)ast", but that isn't fair on most days. • farview: @grcjr $NEWT $MITT #yieldhogs #yieldhog I do have a 1/2 position in $NEWT. I switched to the preferred stock of $CIM, $NRZ and $TWO. I have noticed insider buying in some of the #yieldhogs which makes me feel a little better. The preferred stock I own has preformed well and if the companys can tred-water they should be just fine.
  • farview: @michaelH $SAR $NEWT $NRZ $NYMTO #yieldhogs I sold most of my position in $NRZ when they cut the dividend. I replaced the common of $NRZ with the preferred stock $NRZ.PR.B. I also Replaced $CIM with $CIM.PR.A. As well as others. The preferred stocks maintain there dividend if they are paying any dividend at all on the common. You may want to check out Quantumonline.com for information on preferred stock.
  • farview: A lot of the old yield hog names are preforming well $WHF,$CIM,$NEWT to name a few.

  • issues: I am trying to decide what to do with some major losers in my LT account. My biggest losers include $PAYC $LGIH $CDLX $ENPH $CIM... I know LT means long term. But every day I see them going down, down and down. If I sell a partial I risk the "wash sale" rule, which add to my cost basis and I can't buy it back for 30 days... If I sell now, it'll probably go up or at least stop going down. As Melissa Francis said on TV "If you sell now you're an idiot..." She's probably right. So I guess I will just continue holding b/c as Dan Fitz said, "It's too late to sell! " Dan Fitz is probably right. Hold on. "White knuckle it..." Just wait one more day....
  • champ: @issues $OFS $ARCC $TSLX $MPW $NRZ $CIM $MRCC $NLY $OXLC $AGNC --- $CVX, the CEO said on CNBC, that they were Not going to cut their Dividend, I think he said that yesterday. They can't cut it now or everyone would sue them. I'm now holding a position.
  • Margi1983: @issues $OFS $ARCC $TSLX $MPW $NRZ $CIM $MRCC $NLY $OXLC $AGNC I am holding $GSBD $MAIN and $UTF. Not too thrilled with results these past 2 months. Sold many others on Feb 20-26 to fund my retirement annuity
  • issues: For you hog farmers! Do you know which of your hogs have cut their dividend? Dana used to keep us appraised of them but I'm not sure which are good to hold - at this point. We are still holding these with the dividend shown on Ameritrade: $OFS (35%) $ARCC (16%) $TSLX(12%) $MAIN (13%) $MPW (7%) $NRZ (4.5%) $CIM (25%) $MRCC (22%) $NLY (22%) $OCSI (11%) $OXLC (42%) (and also we have no position in $AGNC). Obviously OXLC won't be paying 42% so they (along with the rest) will probably have to cut their dividend. We are still holding all except AGNC = NP
  • issues: @champ $OFS $ARCC $TSLX $MPW $NRZ $CIM $MRCC $NLY $OXLC $AGNC $CVX Thanks for your post Champ. I picked up a starter position in CVX. Thank you!
  • phgruver: @issues $OFS $ARCC $TSLX $MPW $NRZ $CIM $MRCC $NLY $OCSI $OXLC $AGNC That will take a bit of research, and the data, at this time, is unreliable. Last quarters projections will have little validity next quarter. Many of the #Yield_hogs are vulnerable to loan forbearance. If small businesses and mortgagees are given a couple months holiday from making payments, these businesses won't be able to make their payments either. I suspect that most of them will choose to suspend the dividend for a quarter, or maybe two, rather than actually cut it, though, because when cash flow returns to normal, their ability to pay dividends will also return to normal. I'm just holding. I don't think any of the ones I own are in danger of going Chapter 11....
  • issues: @phgruver $OFS $ARCC $TSLX $MPW $NRZ $CIM $MRCC $NLY $OCSI $OXLC $AGNC #Yield_hogs Thanks Dr Phgruver. Which ones are you still holding?
  • phgruver: @issues $OFS $ARCC $TSLX $MPW $NRZ $CIM $MRCC $NLY $OCSI $OXLC $AGNC #Yield_hogs For various reasons and in various accounts, some of which predate SMM, $NLY (my oldest holding), $NRZ, $NEWT, $ARCC, $MAIN, and, against Dana's advise, $CLNY. All put together, though, they don't represent 5% of my holdings, even before this disruption.
  • issues: @phgruver $OFS $ARCC $TSLX $MPW $NRZ $CIM $MRCC $NLY $OCSI $OXLC $AGNC $NEWT $MAIN $CLNY #Yield_hogs Hey thank you Dr Phgruver!! Appreciate your comments. I will watch for entres, err entries, (not food) for a buy. Perchance you could sub for Dana!! You look to have a lot of experience in this area. I would vote for you!! Do you want the job?
  • phgruver: @issues $OFS $ARCC $TSLX $MPW $NRZ $CIM $MRCC $NLY $OCSI $OXLC $AGNC $NEWT $MAIN $CLNY #Yield_hogs I learned a lot from Dana, but I didn't learn THAT much. I am trying to keep up with the ones I'm invested in, but Dana had a long list that he reviewed each quarter. That's a lot of work!
  • msing3: @issues $OFS $ARCC $TSLX $MPW $NRZ $CIM $MRCC $NLY $OCSI $OXLC $AGNC $NEWT $MAIN $CLNY #Yield_hogs Issues thanks for your original question, I have been wondering if now is a good time to place some yield hogs in a LT portfolio ? Should we wait and look for a solvent YH that did cut or suspend their dividend so that is baked into the current price ? Leaning toward adding NLY, CFRA reiterated a buy on NLY on 3/30 with a price target of $8. Knowing very little specs on these YH it does look enticing.
  • mulligan: @issues $OFS $ARCC $TSLX $MPW $NRZ $CIM $MRCC $NLY $OCSI $OXLC $AGNC The following yield hogs have paid their full dividend this month $TCPC $GPM $HTGC $HRZN $LADR $NEWT $TPVG . $WHF is due to pay today - waiting for it to show in my account. $NRZ cut their dividend from .50 down to .05 due to margin calls impacting liquidity. None of those I listed that have paid already have indicated what they intend to do next quarter... we'll see.
  • farview: @grcjr $NEWT $NRZ #YH I suspect that many of the yield hogs will have there dividends cut severely. I am thinking the preferred stock versions will be a smoother ride. Instead of $CIM I bought $CIM.PR.A. Instead of $NYMT I bought $NYMTN.
  • grcjr: @farview $NEWT $NRZ $CIM $NYMT $NYMTN #YH - I have one preferred but in general I have not owned them. I did have one that I was forced to sell back to the company, not at a time I would not have preferred. Past performance does not .... Preferred can be more reliable but can also go wrong.
  • Ajax4Hire: @grcjr $NEWT $NRZ #YH #YH I don't consider anything below $10 That rule has kicked out almost all on the High-Yield list. The only remaing: $AGNC - AGNC Investment Corp. $CIM - Chimera Investment Corp. No doubt there is big money to be made as the Rental/Real Estate/Mortgage market recovers. But, due to REIT rule: "must pay at least 90% of its taxable income as a dividend to shareholders annually." and Skip-Payment-But-Interest-Still-Accrues means less annual income this year for REITs. Expect High-Yield-which-many-are-REITs to reduce payments. At _minimum_, loss of 1/12th(8.33%) income.
  • grcjr: @Ajax4Hire $NEWT $NRZ $AGNC $CIM #YH #YH - I'm really not nibbling here and there for the dividend. Several were down so much that a buy for some are up 40-50%. The new TARP will also help a number of the traditional high yield. $NEWT is currently at $17.
  • 86944T: #Yield Doing some work trying to figure out which yield hogs I will add over time. $CIM $WMC have larger portfolio’s of non agency back securities which make them less attractive as collateral during margin calls. $IVR has margin calls and already stated they can’t meet them. $MITT also.
  • Drkay: $REITS are up big today. $PMT +65%, $TWO 63%, $STWD 28%, $NRZ 25%, $CIM 24%, $AGNC 20%
  • 86944T: @stairm01 $NLY $NEWT $AGNC $NRZ The selling volume in these names is 6x daily average volume. Must be institutions to dump 25M shares. I hope the selling is over, but the “man” could be letting the price move up to sell some more. The same pattern is also exhibited by $CIM $LADR $BCSF $IVR. This pattern is not evident in a lot of the other hogs, they will probably close on LOD.
  • wijimmy: $CIM.. BUYBACK ..Any thoughts down 13% today.. Tough place to be with lower rates now at .025%-0% ..along with other yield hogs such as $SAR,$GBSD,$LADR,$NRZ,$AGNC,$TPVG getting crushed also... $CIM.. March 13, 2020 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Chimera Investment Corporation (NYSE:CIM) today announced its Board of Directors has authorized the repurchase of up to $150 million of its outstanding common shares. • 86944T: #Yield I bought most of my yield hogs off Dana’s posts in Dec 2018 and Jan 2019 so they had substantial price appreciation in addition to good yield. Most have stopped out since I refuse to get up $10 in price appreciation for $1 in dividend. I keep alerts on all of them and update them nearly daily. With the recent market volatility, the low price alert gets hit, and the upper price alert gets moved down my me. I can buy all of them back at a price lower than they stopped out. • antfarm: $CIM #Yieldhogs #Earnings @jan2138 Chimera Investment (CIM) reported earnings this morning for the forth quarter and full year 2019 and the market really likes the results. For the quarter core (non-GAAP) earnings were 0.64, handily beating the 0.50 dividend. This reversed the past three quarter trend of decreasing earnings of 0.57, 0.53, 0.50 and now 0.64. NAV decreased 0.6% to 16.15 with the past 4 quarters being 16.15, 16.24, 16.24 and again 16.15. For the year core earnings (non-GAAP) earnings were 2.25 per share a slight decrease from the prior year of 2.35. They reported adding 1 billion in seasoned re-performing loans to the portfolio bring the full year loan purchases to 2.3 billion. First quarter 2020 dividend remains @0.50 payable April 30th with a record date of March 30th. And I hope Dana is doing well and recovering speedily. I couldn't buy some of GSL in Feb due to not having in my watchlist & closer to earning report. This is really helpful. You rock.

I appreciate the feedback. But remember...just because they're on the list doesn't mean they're buyable right now. They are to be watched. Some may never let you in. Some may crap out at any time. But they have a lot of the characteristics that are present in strong performing stocks. We just need to be vigilant and let the market tell us which ones are the ones to own, and then just wait for our entry. Hope this makes sense. Dan

Going through potential buy opportunities in the future I like. Getting help building a watchlist will help a lot. Scotts video emphasising MarketSmith - I do not know how many members have an account large enough to buy the subscription - and to know what to do with marketsmith? Very useful hinting of stocks to watch and have money ready for pullbacks making thight SL. I want to trade less and more clever:) THX

  • issues: From IBD: If you have been paying attention in recent days, you know that some of the best dividend stocks these days hail from the real estate sector. In an IBD screen of top real estate investment trusts, a technical breakout for Chimera Investment ($CIM) is working well. Sabra Health Care ($SBRA) and Redwood Trust ($RWT) have also been moving higher in heavy volume. Some of the best dividend stocks often emerge as safe-haven trades when the stock market is in a correction. Mortgage REITs like Chimera and Apollo invest in mortgage loans and other real-estate related debt investments. They have annualized dividend yields of 10.1% and 9.7%, respectively.
