Forexpro: @wanda1616 $RY $BNS $BMO $CM $TD
Hey, @Wanda1616,
If you wanted to end the Canadian banking system and/or start a revolution Up North, that would be one way to go about it. Canadian banks have the equivalent of FDIC insurance for depositors (CDIC) ... -
Forexpro: Re: $RY, $BNS, $BMO, $CM, $TD
Hi, Friends,
Canada is a country with a slightly smaller population than the official number for California. However, it only has a few banks; five that are really big, and to which I pay attention. I've worked at two; ... - Margi1983: $CM. Here is one for our favorite Canadian @scottrades. $CM going green out of a squeeze with big volume today. 5.3% divi

- scottrades: @Margi1983 $CM I like that it's holding above the 21 EMA.
- debeers: $CM---The chain beat on top and bottom lines and then the roof fell in when they talked about opening fewer restaurants than the analysts hoped they would. The new restaurant opening #'s going forward and they weren 't in the revenue numbers or numbers per share. I don't own this stock and i deeply regret not following up on the original post because i had to see why one was so different. -

Of all the charts, $NA.TO looks best. It's also the smallest of the group. The larger names ($RY.TO, $CM.TO, $BMO.TO, $BNS.TO, $TD.TO) have charts that are pretty similar to each other, and to those of the large U.S. banks (the Canadian banks are al ... - Forexpro: @spmeyers $NA $RY $CM $BMO $BNS $TD Thanks, Spymeyers, I'm not a big hunter of head and shoulders formations, but on the daily chart of $BNS, I think that one can plausibly be identified. I don't think that any of these tickers are buys, although I was moderately impressed by how well $NA.TO has held up, relatively speaking. Small is, if not beautiful, at least less ugly. Hope you're faring well; all the best!
- vfr777: @Forexpro $CM oh boy, it's up 2.43% now and I didn't get in it. Oh Well!
- Forexpro: @vfr777 $CM Sorry, Vfr777, It's tough to anticipate analysts' upgrades. I'm always astonished when a stock moves in response to a ratings change, but it happens, and Credit Suisse popped $CM to "Outperform" from "Neutral". According to TheFlyontheWall.com: "The analyst believes his more favorable outlook for the company's Canadian and U.S. Banking businesses along with its strengthening capital position warrants an Outperform rating." Seems pretty weak to me, and certainly doesn't alter my view of the position of the holding company relative to its competitors. I agree, it still hurts to miss a move, for whatever reason. Hope it gets better from here; all the best!
- vfr777: $CM @DAN Hi Dan, CM Canadian bank reported earnings and beat. Looks like it coming out of a consolidation of 2 months. It has a yield of 5.58%. It's at 91.09 now and the highest it's been was $92.22. It's volume of trade is small. If one plans to buy this for a hold, would you advise to buy or is money better spent elsewhere? Am I correct on my analysis of the chart

Forexpro: @vfr777 $CM
Hi, Vfr777,
I'm not Dan, but I did work for $CM in both New York and Toronto. The bank is more than its competitors a pure play on Canadian commercial and retail banking;. It has made attempts to grow in the U.S., but that isn't exactl ... - vfr777: @Forexpro $CM Wow and thanks! I didn't expect a previous insiders view on it. Very helpful information even from a learning standpoint. I think there are more exciting stocks out there so I will hold off for now.

25. $CM – is this a good stock to buy? 20 days to cover. Works.
26. $CTAS – small position. Am I chasing? Yes…but it has very strong momentum. Treat any new shares as a separate trade. - Dw19ht: @pcotton @dunsek @forexpro I tried working at CIBC $CM for a year here in Canada hoping it would open doors... I was a FSR (Financial Services Representative) where I didnt Loans, Line of Credits, Mortgages...etc! ...although after it was all said and done I didnt even clear $2000 a month plus the corporate culture they push down our throats almost made me go crazy! For a young person to get their feet wet the experience would be good, but as for a career I wouldve went broke trying to climb the corporate ladder!
- pcotton: @Dw19ht $CM - I had CM but sold it on the shareholder flap about directors' compensation and succession planning. Now I'm more glad I sold it, thanks. Hey, I guess just being Canadian doesn't necessarily make it good, lol.

For a CAD-based investor, I think that both of those make a lot of sense. Fairly or unfairly, all Canadian banks are considered to have large energy exposure, so U.S. investors tend to be wary of them when oil, and oil companies, are under pressure. ... -
Forexpro: ...
Yeah, that makes sense to me. I should have mentioned in my post that the dividend yields are pretty nice, with both $RY and $TD - my favorites - at just under 4 percent. The less robust names, $BMO and $CM, offer something in excess of 4 percent. I ... -

In fact I liked what I saw yesterday... green candles. So I bought $TQQQ and TNA. I didn't like the action of $XLE, so I trimmed my $ERX a bit. I currently have a 136% position in my x3 tickers. We are due for a correction which I am guessing will be after the Fed meets at Jackson hole next weekend. :)Liz

- Splendor: Selling - $CM, i suggest taking a partial position off of the stocks that have gains _even if_ you think they will continue up. part of the rationale is that _you don't_ know if they will continue up. but letting a 10% gain turn into a 5% gain on that full position is definitely a loss not worth taking if you can avoid. sure you lose out on possible further upside if it goes up but you also lock in some of the gain. if a loser is over the IBD 8% loss mark then dump it. get back in later once it has confirmed an uptrend. you ask how dangerous it is, well, seeing a wealth of green (as it seems from your post) turn into a sea of red should be enough pain to explain the danger.
- joanie: Selling stocks - $CM, as @Dan would say "memo to you" : you've already taken the hit on your losers. The question is if they've turned around. If not, then they're in the process of becoming bigger losers. Instead of thinking of the hit, look at the ...
- bxshin: $OIL @ $CM Kemp I do not have a complete answer for you. This country(US) has a lot more oil than was originally anticipated. I heard talk of perhaps using our country's oil reserves. Remember that Qaddafi is indeed a crazy old man trying to hold onto power in Libya. He really is capable of blowing up his own country's oil pipelines. So, I would stay away from $OXY, $MRO, $HES, and $COP because they have Libyan connections. Good luck. Barb
