  • Henry: @Mike2025Trader What Dr. Sci said, plus it is a counter trend trade. You have to be right on the direction and the time frame on things that are not known today. Option positions are not stocks, you should not be $X of options if $X is what a stock position would be.. Especially so if you are an option newbie. Yes it's a hedge if it works, if it doesn't, it's a loss.
  • stairm01: $X Does anyone know about US Steel? Sold, changed ticker, merged?
  • kenb: @stairm01 $X Nippon Steel purchase effective today. $X gone.
  • traderbren: @stairm01 $X - Nippon acquired $X at $55 -- this trade is done!
  • stairm01: @kenb $X Thanks!
  • Mikev200: $X nice move today/BO
  • traderbren: @champ $X - i don't think there's enough juice left to squeeze in this baby. I sold on the 2nd day of the pop.
  • champ: @traderbren $X ....Yes.. only flat, however my $CMC is real hot this morning.
  • phgruver: @DavidK $CLF It's hard to get excited about a steel company that can't seem to get it's act together. $X and $MT have much better looking charts..... $NUE has a similar looking chart. They need to show some sign of life before they become invest-able again.
  • DavidK: @phgruver $CLF $X $MT $NUE any idea on book value of $CLF . I asked Grok and it was not accurate based on old financials . $14 a share was the answer .
  • phgruver: @DavidK $CLF $X $MT $NUE Schwab gives the price to tangible book as $0.87, and cash/share as $0.12, if that helps.
  • DavidK: @phgruver $CLF $X $MT $NUE whew ! 😥
  • Mikev200: $X continues
  • champ: $X...I'm in today, for a spec-Swing, into P-Trumps $X News-event, at their Steel plant this afternoon, to see if he says something for the stock to have a another move, could maybe get another $1 or so, in the AH's or on Monday...? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  • traderbren: $X - back above the 50d and 20d -- maybe sniffing out a deal in the making.
  • Mikev200: $X earnings tomorrow AMC FYI
  • Mikev200: $X sm starter
  • DavidK: $X- Biden laid the seed and Trump appears to be watering it by not allowing Nippon Purchase. Played golf Friday with a buddy of mine’s son . Thier family company , Cooksey Metals was purchased in Feb 2024 I believe was date by $RS. Reliance . ...
  • Doug: $X - Trump against acquisition. Down PM.
  • traderbren: $X - showing its mettle!
  • woodman: @traderbren $X - anyone who picked it up at the low of the day got it for a steel. :-)
  • traderbren: @woodman $X - whoa, nicely done! lol
  • DAN: @traderbren $X Nice play on words. LOL
  • DavidK: $X - Trump needs to immediately approve of Nippon buyout of $X. We don’t mind Foreign car manufacturers setting up shop in the USA so why would anyone have an issue with this deal . Nippon is going to invest in new technology and more jobs . National security risk is total bullshit . Worst case scenario in some national security the military takes over the plant and sends the Nippon management home .
  • woodman: @DavidK $X - And I like the idea of not being *forced* to by a car from one of the American manufacturers. If I choose to, fine, but not because I've been priced out. Frankly, the track record for Amercian cars is not good. I'd consider an American truck if I were a truck guy, but I am not. They're cool, but not for me. My 2003 Honda minivan with 210,000 miles is still running, as is my 2007 Infiniti sedan (only 100K miles, though).
  • DavidK: @woodman $X I currently drive a 2008 Toyota Tacoma I bought new after trading in a Range Rover Sport . Had 2 Mercedes and 2 Range Rovers back when I was rolling in business ventures . When things got ough in 2008 timeframe in real estate I said enough of these expensive cars and I needed a pickup anyway . I will keep this Toyota until it falls apart . 155k miles on it now . My wife has a couple year old Toyota Highlander and it drives better than any 85-100k car I have ever had . And I think it cost mid 40’s when she bought
  • bigbartabs: @DavidK $X ... similar story with my wife's 2007 Lexus RX350. Never breaks. Never fails. I will at some point sell it and get her a newer Lexus. But as of now, she just keeps driving it, and loves it.
  • DavidK: @bigbartabs $X my wife after just selling her business asked me don’t you think you should get another truck .said you buying ? 😂 I said for what ? It has dents and I love it so if I got a new one I would be too worried about denting it up .
  • DavidK: @woodman $IBB $XBI my daughter had a rough pregnancy in 2020 . She had 3 Dr’s . One female doctor would not stop telling her to get the Covid vaccine . Daughter finally had her removed as one the Dr’s . Since there has been very credible ...
  • woodman: @DavidK $IBB $XBI $x - Sorry to hear about your health, and I hope you return to good health in the future if not already there. I hear what you are saying. You are correct that there is non-zero chance of severe side effects with the covid vaccine. From a Google Search Labs result (which may or may not be correct because AI is way too often inaccurate, unfortunately - that's a whole other discussion) - Rare, severe side effects: Hospitalization due to COVID-19 vaccine side effects has been very uncommon, occurring in only 0.3% of cases. Severe allergic reactions: Severe allergic reactions have also been rare, occurring in approximately 0.6% of those vaccinated. The measles vaccine, which it what I had been discussing, works and is safe. Good visual as to efficacy here, fwiw: https://x.com/DrNeilStone/status/1855972406143115448 Measles in adults is very serioius.
  • DavidK: @woodman $IBB $XBI $x heart all good now since I had the ablation procedure in 2020 . Had it for 20 years plus and it was out of rhythm 20% of the time . Huge stroke issue . That watchman procedure claims to prevent blot clotting in the heart thus no ...
  • woodman: @DavidK $IBB $XBI $x - A buddy of mine has Afib. He's on medication, but I don't know what. I know he watches his condition closely. There's some monitoring he does with all his crazy tech gadgets, but I don't know the particulars. Perhaps you'd bene ...
  • DavidK: @woodman $IBB $XBI $x I bought like 5 new putters last year . Presently using an Evenroll mallet style . I do have an old Ping Anser I use to be deadly with . I had to back out of Member/ Member last week because of back issues . Did play this sat with son and some of his buddies. 39-35 so I was pleased considering haven’t been able to practice. We did have some swing oil that made it beetle on my back . Going to the pain Dr Wednesday. I have lumbar arthritis and Lunbar Stenosis. Basically nerve damage and shoots down leg . I told chiropractor I am too young to not play golf so somebody , somehow is gonna make it better .Younger brother has same issues . Mom had bad arthritis. Anyway I have always stayed in shape gym wise so hopefully Pain Dr can help .
  • Bert953: @DavidK $IBB $XBI $x Reminds me of the tale of Pablo and the bandito. A story I heard at a RE seminar years and years ago. Bottom line is Pablo is the person that gains from your loss, so they craft a narrative, truth being detrimental.

    Here is a ...
  • DavidK: @Bert953 $IBB $XBI $x 💯
  • DavidK: $X- Has to be a buy here . I was going to buy yesterday but markets scared me . Trump needs to allow the Nippon Steel buyout happen. They will invest $$ and secure many jobs . I think Trump will come around .
  • traderbren: $X - pushing up against the upper BB. Could head higher is Potus gets a deal done.
  • DavidK: @traderbren $X I bought some . Mentioned last night on Fast Money . Thought it would trend back up toward the Original buyout price which I think was I. The low mid 50’s.
  • DavidK: @champ $FANG $JPM thanks . I agree . I have only 2-3 long term spec play stocks( $UAMY , $AUPH, $X SMALL , $GWAV I am holding . The rest are only trades
  • Henry: $X Fox reports Biden's going to block the Nippon merger
  • DrScience: $X Anonymous sources reporting the US Gubment is preparing to formally announce the blocking Nippon Steel's acquisition of US Steel.
  • traderbren: @DrScience $X - not surprising. I considered Puts yesterday but didn't pull the trigger.
  • woodman: @DrScience $X - I haven't thought about $X since I took the money at $49.61 and ran after the deal was announced.
  • bigbartabs: @woodman @DrScience $X ... Musk should buy US Steel... and merge his X in with $X. Steel and Social Media... a match made in heaven.
  • woodman: @bigbartabs $X - $x²
  • marklesparkle: @bigbartabs $X 2X
  • chrisbman360: @bigbartabs $X good one BBT. Musk certainly has a thing about X. Now he can own the symbol. I covered my short on X long ago. Had a suspicion this deal was going to get torpedoed.
  • champ: Watch...$CMC...$50.35, I got Back-in this morning, for a Trade into their Earnings report in the morning and I might swing....... ....and $CMC is Flat for the year...YTD...... ....and they typically don't issue formal guidance..... ....however they beat last time..but you never know and they are expected to say, that they expect that Robust demand will continue for the rest of 2024 and into 2025. ....$STLD $NUE and $X....these Steel companies either beat or missed by a little and they mostly always guild inline or down a little. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ All steel companies, are all mostly #down YTD...because of higher Interest-rates. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  • Wolf: $CLF $X #Steel $NUE #Upgrades Steel stocks getting some upgrades this morning.
  • debeers: $X- Well it cleared 2 big landmarks today: 1. The Eu cledared it for merger 2. Morgan Stanley goes to 48 from 51 but still has it as the outperformer in the steel space Personal note- i own it and still think its a damn shame- its called US steel for chrissakes!
  • wijimmy: $X .. O BOY !!!! -10% .. $55 a share take over offer from Nippon ... Joe says NO NO NO !!!!.. Is Japan a Security threat to the USA ?
  • Cjauger: @wijimmy $X OUCH!!!

  • Henry: $X we talked about the hazards of waiting for the deal to close. The CEO of $CLF was on Fox? and said if the deal with Nippon is blocked, the price is going down. Sen Toomey is on the boob tube supporting Japan. Are all these politcos on the take?
  • DavidK: @Henry $X $CLF of course they are . Crooked politicians and greedy CEO’s have been selling out USA’s manufacturing base for decades . Huge contributor to spike in crime , loss of decent paying jobs and communities. Most of these incompetent politicians are 2 nd tier ambulance chasing lawyers or rich daddy’s boy that was pushed into politics to push and promote certain agendas .
  • woodman: @Henry $X $CLF - I sold $X that morning. I wasn't going to be effing around with such a gift gain. Take the money and run.

  • Auto: $X short premarket
  • woodman: $X (US Steel) - Bam! Big shout out to @debeers who talked back in Sept. about it being up for sale. That's when I bought a healthy position around $32. https://www.cnbc.com/2023/12/18/japans-nippon-steel-plans-to-acquire-us-steel-for-7-billion.html
  • curtis: @woodman $X (good trade) :)
  • woodman: @curtis $X - Thanks, but really I owe it to @debeers.
  • Auto: $X short covered $$ long now as per 5min volume bars
  • DavidK: $CLF - up big on $X buyout . Brother owns 80,000 shares at 8. Told him to sell when it hit 35 year or so ago. He didn’t !!! Look for Jim Leventhall (sp?) to be touting clf on halftime show if he is on . I don’t want to chase it myself up this much but markets Believing the undervalued talk from Clf ceo on his company
  • woodman: @DavidK $CLF $X https://www.clevelandcliffs.com/news/news-releases/detail/615/cleveland-cliffs-comments-on-transformative-global-industry
  • Bs7518: $X Rookie question, now that the sale has been announced at $55 per share will the stock price hit $55 or sale here
  • DavidK: @woodman $CLF $X if you try and compare $X -$55 offer/ earnings estimates 2024 then same for $$CLF , $ x at a Pe of -18 , clf 10 . Just a quick back of the envelope glance . Historically these steel stocks have traded below pe of 10 .
  • woodman: @DavidK $CLF $X - do you consider CLF to be one to be acquired? I ask because I know CLF was in the running to be the acquirer of X, rather than being an acquiree.
  • Henry: @Bs7518 $X I would sell it here. There aren't going to be any more bidders, they already shopped the company. The question is will the US allow one of the largest steel companies to be sold to Japan. It's going to be months until we know the answer to that.
  • woodman: @Bs7518 @Henry $X - I sold mine this morning. I just assumed, without knowing for sure, that the difference is due to regulatory risk. Being the namesake of Woody Allen, I decided to take the money and run.
  • Bs7518: @woodman $X Thxs your my hero $ADRX has bought all my Christmas for my grandson😎
  • joelsg1: @woodman $X And revealed that Sen. Tuberville bought $20 puts on $X expiring 6/24. He is an idiot and these look like made 11/7, but doubt this deal was a secret as lots of lobbying needed here.
  • DavidK: $CLF @woodman . Reply feature not working . Thus my response on valuation question . Per CEO Of clf he feels steel stocks have to be re valued per $X buyout figure . So looking at 2024 estaumates for both stocks clf at 10 pe x at 18 . Maybe clf gets back to the 35 area again . Anyway , speaking with a car dealer ( ford, Chrysler, keep ) that has about 5 dealerships sat about business , he said it’s terrible . EV’s , a joke . Another business owner said things were really slowing down . So take it for what it’s worth . Clf supplies lots of steel to autos .
  • woodman: @DavidK $CLF $X - Thanks.

  • bill52: @Wolf $CLF #Comodity yes, nice move again today. some of it might also be that they are in the hunt to buy out US Steel $X
  • debeers: $CAT- OK so you've decided that the homebuilders will benefit from reduced rates? But how do you get there? You gotta have a road. And what aboujt the infra bill- of which we've seen crap so far---Roads where i live are a disaster $CAT is the best way tio play infra--that and $X.
  • jonwest88: @debeers $CAT $X The crews and builders rent the CAT stuff from $URI. United Rentals
  • debeers: ...
STEEL YOURSELF----Let's face it---bridges, homes, barriers all need steel $X marks the spot. If it didn't why would there be bids for the co ABOVE $40?

  • marklesparkle: @debeers $URI $CAT $F $f $X $SCHW $BA $ARDX Yes Woodman definitely does his homework
  • DavidK: $X - CNBC stating bids gonna be over 40. I have stayed out of this fray , until now . Picked up 500 shares . $CLF would seem to be the best partner
  • woodman: @DavidK @debeers $X $CLF - I picked up a large position, starting in Sept and adding twice to make a larger position. I've just held it and will continue to. Thanks goes out to @debeers who put this on my radar screen in the first instance.
  • debeers: PRICE TARGETS REVISIONS $AVGO-1250 $BA-275-joel and i have been on this for awhile $X- @Woodman-would have liked to claim that i was prescient but $CLF put out feelers when $X was at 30 $PANW-the king of cybersecurity IMO
  • woodman: $X - this inch worm has been easy to hold while waiting for the next bid from various acquisition suitors.
  • woodman: $X - US Steel - has been a good employee as it continues to slowly climb. It's like watching paint dry if you watch too closely, but the result is good. I bought a large position (relative to my other trading positions) in this at $32 in Sept and have just been letting it slowly do its work. I figure one day it will be acquired (@debeers discussed this some time ago), though I don't know the status of those talks.
  • Henry: @woodman $X Gasparino reported that final bids must be submitted by tomorrow 5 companies are interested
  • bigbartabs: @Henry @Woodman $X ... what is the reason they are looking to be acquired?
  • Henry: @bigbartabs $X I guess the Board decided it was in the best interest of the shareholders.
  • woodman: @Henry @bigbartabs $X - Thanks, Henry. My impression has been that $CLF would be the most likely acquirer, though I truly don't know. Fyi: https://www.recyclingtoday.com/news/us-steel-bids-friday-deadline-december-1-2023-illinois-blast-furnace-idle/
