Apple Inc. ($AAPL) was last at $458.55 on a volume of 4,199,640 shares. We last covered Apple back at $399.71 (“Apple finding support right above prior low” http://articles.stockmarketmentor.com/2013/06/apple-finding-support-right-above-prior-low/ ) as shares were making a key technical development, a higher low.

Apple has hit another key development today, implied volatility is printing a new low, under 22% for the first time since early last August. Implied volatility can used to evaluate how ‘expensive’ options are, low implied volatility implies ‘cheaper’ options.

So one way to look at today’s development would be that Apple Inc. ($AAPL) options were last this cheap back in August of 2012.

Technical traders will look at the 200 day moving average $470.37 as current resistance. A breakout above this level would be a key technical event for Apple shares.
