@Scott, would it be a fair statement that if an exchange does not offer cold storage, it would be prudent to keep your coins in a wallet? My impression is that if an exchange “collapses”, the coins in wallets should still be accessible and transferrable to another exchange that works with those coins.

100% Yes. No one cares more about your money than you. You shouldn’t rely on a 3rd party to protect your money.
