Would you rather trade the company or the chart? Here are some thoughts to ponder on FANG. (Marc..

Discussed in this article: Diamondback Energy Inc. Commmon Stock ( $FANG )

I want to look at FANG ( NASDAQ:FANG ), and here’s why: I’ve been interested in this stock for two reasons; what first got me, I was doing some research on the oil and gas energy sector and industry group, looking at all the various stocks and one of them I came across, I just dug the ticker, FANG ( NASDAQ:FANG ), because it’s Diamondback Energy ( NASDAQ:FANG ), I was very clear to my members that I first looked at the stock because I just thought FANG ( NASDAQ:FANG ), that’s cool, and then I looked at the chart, and I liked the chart. I liked the chart because it had a nice prevailing uptrend and it was trading sideways in this box. It had a nice high base here and I was looking for a breakout and that’s what we’ve got here. Then lately I’ve been talking to members about this volatility squeeze, watch for this squeeze, watch this squeeze, watch this squeeze, and sure enough today this thing popped out. I think it’s a little bit extended above the 50 and the 200-day moving average, but I think this stock has some ways to go, and it’s certainly a continuation of the uptrend.

So the reason I’m pointing this out is just to note there’s more than one way to skin a rattler, there’s more than one way to make money. It’s really okay just to look at charts, I wouldn’t have bought the stock because of this ticker, but it drew my attention to it; what really got me into it was the chart itself, so it’s really okay to trade the charts as opposed to the tickers. If you start falling in love with a particular ticker then when the chart goes belly-up you’re still going to be holding the stock. We’ve seen that a lot with biotech, the bottom line is, a hundred percent, there are no exceptions to this, I would rather trade a good chart than a good ticker any day, because you make money, the way you make money is on price movement. So just a little tidbit for you, I hope that helps.
