Boeing (BA) is coming in for a landing. What you do depends on why you’re on the airplane.

Discussed in this article: Boeing Co. ( $BA )

Here’s a quick look at Boeing ( NYSE:BA ). This stock gapped up here, a pretty solid announcement out of Boeing ( NYSE:BA ) earlier this week got the stock going, but it immediately traded lower. A couple days later it was clear back down to the prior trading range just before the stock bounced.

But here’s the thing, you’ve got to figure out exactly why you’re in this stock. If you’re looking to trade this stock just look elsewhere because there’s not that much in it one way or another. This is a holding stock not a trading stock. The trading stock was when it was coming out of a volatility squeeze or sometime lower.

But when the stock has made the kind of move that Boeing’s ( NYSE:BA ) made, like here, through this whole thing all you need to do is just look at the key moving average and start drawing boxes, these are the biggest excursions from the 50-day moving average right here. This is a big breakout and then a pullback.

So my suggestion on Boeing ( NYSE:BA ) is, if you are a longer-term holder of this stock there is absolutely no real reason to sell it, if you have a long-term time horizon, the stocks moving higher. But if you want to lighten up because your positions got to big, this is not a bad place to do it either, because this candle is a little bit different than all these others. This comes after this big move, the volume the other day was a lot heavier than normal, so this is in some distribution. I think because the Dow was so strong today, this stock caught a bounce. If you’re long, hold the stock, because this level is holding.

But again, if you’re looking for an excuse, you’re looking for a reason to take some profits, just look at about a $1.30 or something like that. If the stock falls below there then start lightening up, but just let the trend work in your favor otherwise. There’s no sense getting to wigged out about these little pullbacks, if you have a longer time frame. If you’ve got a short time frame, you’ve made money on this in the past, don’t be fixated on it, don’t keep going back to the well because the volatility is kind of wrung out of this stock.
