I will listen to your arguments patiently and semi-respectfully, but in my world, the only thing that matters is what is happening to the price patterns/behavior of the stock. The Chart controls my activity. I will say I have an "opinion" ... - Cjauger: @DAN $AAPL $XYZ $NVDA snapback 59 minute trade on $NVDA?
- Henry: @oldmaratom That would be a good teaching video. I don't recall any previous vids on the subject. I'll give it a shot. 1) BAD ENTRIES capitalized for a reason. 2) Stops too tight 3) No stop 4) "This can't be happening to me" Maybe the most common of faults in any sort of accident (medical, aviation, trading) analysis. 5) Selling too soon 6) Anchoring $XYZ used to be $100 when I bought it, now it's $50, I can't sell, or now it's $120, I'll add when it gets back to $100
- Henry: @bigbartabs $META #Thread I forgot the link, which did not say. I think it was easy to try it and the people that are mad at Elon for exposing government censorship on Twitter flocked to Threads. I have not tried it, but I am hearing it is not good for finding breaking news. If you want to know why $XYZ is down 40% or the police have just blocked off 6 square blocks of your city, you can find that on Twitter but you probably won't find it on a traditional news site.

"I am holding x% of my position in $XYZ because I like the fundamental/technical picture of the stock, and I am willing to hold it through pullbacks because I don't want to be shaken out. It's ok if I give some back because the ebb and flow of ... - Lou: @BarryC $AI $FSLY $NVDA $TSLA #long - I suggest that you not post your daily #P&L as @DAN frowns on anyone posting dollar numbers and numbers of shares. Trades and prices are great but not actual totals. So, for instance, $XYZ at $15 purchased and $16 sold works, without listing number of shares or total cost, amount realized and dollar profit.
- Henry: @Emmser Welcome to the forum. If you have a question for Dan or anyone else precede the name with the @. If you post about a stock use the $ sign before the symbol. That brings up a chart, when we hover over the symbol. If you want to know what we thing about $XYZ tell us why you thing $XYZ looks good to you. Stock trading is hard, but it's a lot of fun when you are right.

Tomorrow $XYZ will close up, down or unchanged. It will be up or down for the year, month, week and day. It's all just the same data point. Your opinion of $XYZ maybe right it maybe wrong. If you float the idea and people don't like it, they will tell you without the Twitter-like attacks on your intelligence and your mother's moral standards. We all don't know what we don't know.

- DAN: @StockMarketMentor $COUP New multi-week high today. If you're buying this stock, consider putting a stop below today's low --maybe around $165. if the stock falls that low, then this is a false breakout. Note: Timeframe is very important. VERY important. One person's daytrade that's stopped out is another person's longer term position where the pullback is ignored. Know what YOU are doing. Don't just base your trades on some innocuous post in the forum. The person posting might be doing something totally different. One trader might be scalping stocks for pennies. I've seen posts that say, "$XYZ is running!" I look at the stock and it's up a nickel. That's worthless to me...but that's because I'm not trading for nickels. But someone else might be. Know YOUR plan, and then stick with it. Dan
- unlikeyou1: @DAN $COUP $XYZ Thank you for Clarifying @Dan. This is something that trips me up a bit. I'm still working to figure out what time frame is best for me. I don't have the ability to actively day trade, so working on a longer term view but still working to define that strategy. I'll comb back through your videos, tutorials, etc. There is such a mix of day, swing and others in here, I'm working on whittling it down, but find it tricky right now.
- DAN: @unlikeyou1 $COUP $XYZ It is tricky. Many different types of traders here. It's impossible to keep things organized. That's just the nature of a trading forum. You can't just create separate "rooms" because you'll essentially be blowing up the asteroid into fragments. I've thought it through and can tell you that it just won't work. I've seen other people try it and it doesn't work.
- unlikeyou1: @DAN $COUP $XYZ Understood, thanks. I just need to further develop my strategy. Still learning.
- Henry: @mradams0621 @SHUDAG I'm not sure I see the humor in it. The Internet doesn't enhance anyone's sense of humor and I GET Shudag's POINT. There is lot of noise in the forum. Hearing for the first time that $XYZ is up 10% at 11 am doesn't do any of ...
- gwenzee: @Henry $XYZ Thank you, Henry. Good advice you gave on plunging into options. I see too many newbies who just follow before they have any idea what they are doing. Very sad. Hope you and your family are doing well and keeping safe in this trying time.
- DAN: $MYGN $SHAK -- Gap traders might want to watch these two stocks for signs of short covering and an oversold bounce. Don't anticipate it. That's the biggest mistake that I see traders make here. "I bought $XYZ on your recommendation and I'm down 10%. What should I do?" I never "recommend" a stock or option trade based on what I think will happen in the future. My crystal ball is broken. Dan
- DAN: Palomar reports earnings after the bell today and the stock is down 6.67% right now. Our cost basis is 40.85, but that's not enough of a cushion to hold through this pullback. I'm erring on the side of capital preservation and taking a small profit ...

3. Stop trading until you figure out where you're going wrong. It's hard to make money in this environment. So focus on learning, not earning. Focus on learning what a good entry is. And a good entry is not because someone says, "I'm buyin ... - spmeyers: @DAN #POSTING I usually make my posts short and to the point, which is what I like to read. Such as: "$XYZ is starting to come out of a volatility squeeze." Maybe you could clarify what you mean by "more robust." As for combining tickers in one post, when I see something worth sharing it's easiest for me to just do it right away, instead of waiting til I might have 2 or 3.
- DAN: @spmeyers $XYZ #POSTING No. Perfect. That's a-ok. We don't need essays. Don't WANT essays. My MMT notes are actually way longer than I'd like them to be. But they kind of "are what they are." I just want to avoid having a long string of posts by one person. That's all. Just want to make sure that the forum is a place for everyone.
- Henry: #Twitter is no longer useful for research. The Bots have taken over. In the past, it was possible to find news of a stock upgrade before it was in the TOS news stream. There were a couple Bot ads, showing the same tweet, (different sender) with a picture or chart and text like "see our price target for $XYZ," which ultimately leads to a subscription site. Lately there are pages and pages of the same tweet, a list of stocks to lure you to the tweet and an advertisement for something else, like a cryptocurrency
- Seth: @Bermont no spaces so it looks like "$XYZ" I just tried and it worked fine for me. Did you use the search box at the top of the page? Not the comment box...
- DAN: $CLDX -- love seeing all of you have these high quality problems! Makes my heart sing. Now...I would recommend taking some of your position off the table, @ginny. You are up 300%! Take enough off the table so that you get an infinite rate of return. Take enough profits to get your remaining cost basis to zero. (I.e., $XYZ invested...sell enough #options to get you your $XYZ back). You've now ensured that your maximum risk of loss is zero! And you're still in position to make much more money!
- Henry: Nomenclature: No $ is a twitter/stock tweets thing, also used in OMM. In twitter, if you want to search for all the tweets on XYZ, $XYZ will return more hits. If it doesn't have a $ sign, it won't appear at all in stock tweets. The only way to tell if their long or short is by keeping up with all their tweets.
