- champ: $XLE $GUSH $ERX......On Monday, #January-20th, that will be the Day, that all the #Laws are going to #Officially change, for all of the #Energy-companies, then they will be able to come out and tell all the Energy Investors how they are going to make all of their New-profits, off of Drill Baby Drill, for all the new Exporting that is going to start....... .....now anytime after Monday, they will be able to come out and officially guild higher, and tell Investors their plans for making higher profits, without the threat of being #sued by the Federal-government. #Need-to-be-Ready,.....because that's going to trigger a game-charger, for all the Energy companies in the U.S....and also for all of the Energy investors. .......Don't be Late, might want to have your Investment positions in place, before the big day on Monday, which will trigger Game-on, Risk-on. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

- phgruver: @SusanW $KMI Yes, it is frustrating, how energy companies ($XLE) track oil, even though lower crude prices = higher profits. As for $KMI, I'm a very long time holder, as well. I did add, though, when it was dragging the bottom, and managed to lower my cost basis to where I am now profitable. As for continuing to hold, $KMI is paying $0.2875/qtr, a rate of 4.33%, at current prices. Unless you know of an investment that can pay you more than 4.33%, you are better off holding. This is want Jim Cramer used to refer to as an "accidental high yielder." IMHO, this issue is more likely to go up than down.

- bigbartabs: @djgustoso $MSTR $MSTX ... years ago I did a correlation check on many of the 1x and their 3x ETFs. Some correlated well between 1x to 3x... but the majority had pretty big gaps in correlation. I seem to recall that $SMH to $SOXL correlated best ... and the energy ETFs were the worst... $XLE to $ERX and $XOP to $GUSH.

- TraderGeekSam: $XLE The energy space is nearing the top of a two-year wedge, so you may want to trim some exposure up here.
- Nepenthe: @TraderGeekSam $XLE I did today, via $ERX in which I have had a substantial position for a week or so, with an entry at 59. Going forward, however, XLE appears to be 'breaking out', tepidly if you will, on a weekly chart, with two lines of resistance, 93.67 and 94.71 ahead. Am I reading this correctly? I find many times I'm not, or overlooking something that more experienced traders would scoff at. Cheers.
- TraderGeekSam: @Nepenthe $XLE $ERX Yes, it appears to be breaking out but could also break down. Energy is overbought and susceptible to a pullback. I'm often early to be cautious, but just monitor the breakout for follow-though and be quick to exit if it fails (assuming it's a short term trade.)

- Watching $FTI again, which is bouncing at the December lows/the July consolidation region but also looks like it has a date with 200sma - bigbartabs: @oldtimer $USO $XOP $GUSH $UNG $XLE $XLF $XLV ... glad it helps. Over time... I have simplified my trading by staying at a higher level... mainly the index derivatives (1x triggering the 3x ETFs), and then the major sectors (the same, 1x triggering the 3x ETFs). Sometimes I'll trade some individual tickers... but that's not where I buy and sell in size, like I do at the index and sector level trades. I have enough trouble staying on top of indexes and sectors, let alone hundreds of individual stocks. Of course everyone has their druthers... developed over decades of trading. FWIW... all the best buddy... sounds like you are doing just fine at this crazy "job" we all decided to bite off! ==:O
