- Henry: @sgiseller $VZ I owned the stock for years and it ultimately left a bad taste in my mouth. None of us bought it at 30 because it looked like it was on it's way to 20. Now it's a breakout play. I'm sitting on the sidelines for now, as I said in my other post.

Old Turkey will currently say it is early innings in a bull market so investors should establish a core position and let them run. Trying to swing for small gains and trying to rinse and repeat could be a recipe for underperformance.

- Pard: @fiebs $VZ $T Appreciate that information. Both $VZ and $T are downhill racers. My guess is that they are no longer that attractive for their dividends when you can get paid for cash these days. Not sure.

- Forexpro: Re: $AMZN Hi, Friends, Bloomberg.com, observing that Amazon Prime subscriptions in the U.S. have flatlined in part due to cheaper competition from $WMT ($98 vs $139 plus a lower threshold for free grocery delivery) reports that my friends in Seattle are negotiating with several carriers to provide free or low-cost ($10/month?) mobile phone service to members. Negotiations are supposedly ongoing with $VZ, $TMUS and $DISH. Not surprised to see that discussions are no longer happening with my $T pals. Not sure what sense this makes even if it comes to fruition in some form, but I'm generally interested in Amazon's shenanigans. $DISH is up nicely pre-market, $T and $TMUS down, $VZ flattish. While it is only a tiny bit longer and wider, what I not is that it is maybe twice as heavy. $VZ is going to credit what I originally paid for the phone. Now is this news true? For years there of been countless anonymous sources stories about $AAPL that have proven to be pessimistically untrue. With an impending world wide recession, it certainly could be true.

The company's previous guidance was results to be at the lower-end of $5.40 to $5.55 per share and the current consensus earnings estimate is $5.41 per share for the year ending December 31, 2022.

Money/Currency exchanging business is old, very old and fiat banking is not new. $ETHE,$GXBT,$GLD,$SLV are just as fiat-able as USD,Euro,Renminbi. This is a "We don't have to be right, we just all have to agree" fact. as opposed to "no one needs to agree on" facts like gravity. Right now we all agree that 1share of $AAPL=127.05-USDollar. Change is coming in the payment system. $AMZN,$WMT,$FB,$ETSY,Venmo,$SQ,$PYPL,$V,$MA,$DFS,$T,$VZ,$TMUS All handle money exchange now better than banks. - Pokersmith: I'm thinking $VZ is compelling here with the AOL and Yahoo divestiture. If dividend/defensive plays are garnering interest ( see XLU, IYR ) You have to think $VZ gets an underlying bid here. See also cell tower action of late ( AMT, CCI ) VZ is hovering just above the 50 week sma. Other averages turning up. Good accumulation lately. bumping right up on downtrend line of relatively recent descending tops. IMHO, a break above and close/hold above 59.50 could confirm it, but a buy on a pullback to 50 week wouldn't be criminal. That said...more consolidation is just as likely given its nature, in which case, collect the juicy dividend while you wait. It's not sexy, but it COULD work. Throw it on the watchlist...let's see.

(The sensible AOL and Yahoo divestiture reminds me of an old aristocratic Southern family selling their antiques and furniture to finance their lifestyle - as described in Coate's book, The Water Dancer)
- Pokersmith: @bla00109 $VZ I think Tmobile is eating some of their lunch, at the moment anyway. VZ is still the 800 lb gorilla in the space, and owns much of the spectrum. For a trade..I'll take it with risk defined ..👍and if she stalls some.. , a nice dividend
