- Docoof: @vcondry $PSQ I don’t understand that. Leaving my lack of experience aside, what indicates that one can be confident that $QQQ won’t have a short term bounce or rally? Or at least be confident enough to put on a full position in $PSQ into the close? I’m not asking you in particular, vcondry, but just expressing my confusion about what justifies this trade.
- vcondry: @Docoof $PSQ $QQQ quoting them "Added as full position on June 28 as rally looks like it's on its way to a failure. Entry on SwingTrader at 14.23." stop loss at $13.72 This and $LLY (now a 2/3) are the only positions they currently hold. A bit out of character for them maybe a swing for the fences with a pretty tight stop.
- JJS: @HillB $SQQQ $SPXU , One more hedge you might consider is $PSQ, but your choice, which works best.
- 10-penny: Had a little bit of success day trading the short ETFs ($EDZ, $FAZ, $TBT) and $VXX today. Others look good too ($SQQQ, $SH, $PSQ, $FNGD, $SRTY, $SDS, $TWM).

- issues: The market may go down even after the election. Remember how long it went down when Al Gore challenged the election with Bush? Months. Looking at BEAR efts: $SDS $QID $SH $SRTY $PSQ $RSW $TZA $SDOW $SPXS $SQQQ; fees vary but $SPXS looks cheaper

It's tempting but I can't seem to press that BUY button. Tomorrow may be the bounce. That would be the time to buy the bear etfs for the following days. I guess I will determine that tomorrow.

- elflock: Hello Everybody. Newbie here with a big, dumb, off-topic problem I'm hoping you guys have time to weigh in on --I recently took back our portfolio from a truly destructive broker and am working on restructuring it. Many troubling buys inc. 1150 shares of inverse ETF's all purchased 10/3/2011 for my husband's IRA (S&P closed @ 1099 that day.) No stops under any of these (or any other) buys. Sigh. Is this the day/week I begin cutting our loss? Here's the picture: bought: $EUM 250 @ 38.6 (today c. 32.2) $MYY 300 @ 36.5 (" 28.5) $PSQ 300 @34.6 (" 27.) $RWM 300 @36.3 (" 27.) Many thanks for any and all input.

- jmcgee66: Market Wow..this am really takes me aback with this $GDP number. Almost all cash now other than Mr. Softee and a couple of others. I went to bed last night feeling confident that now was the time to buy one or two of the inverse ETF's as the charts @Dan offered, including $SH, $SDS, and $PSQ, all looked very good. Now, wondering if this is just a fakeout and a better opportunity to go short. Hmmmnnn...this seems like a very good day to sit on your hands. - bobbybennett: $DOG SH $PSQ back to PorchDog Yes I am accumulating these with market tops to counter all my long positions in IRA and ROTH. Shorter term, I could buy 2x Reverse ETFs like QID. I'm not versed in #options enough but negative ETFs are a simplier counter move for days like this. Just not as profitable.

Yes, I agree. Bought some more of these since it looks like a retest of prior highs. We will see if it can break out of resistance. Sold some $TXN today and yesterday. Pushed up to resistance today. Have only a little left just in case. Bought starter positions of PCX, $VNR, & $CQP since they were priced right. Bought a little more of $NFLX since it was low but will place stops just in case.

- dunsek: Good morning, CallaLilly- Green is good, but this market is becoming increasingly schizophrenic! One day we're all doomed, next day it's all clear sailing thanks to one data point. The next day, people realize we're still all doomed, then the day after that it's laissez les bon temps roulez again. Exhausting, these emotional swings are! So, I'm sitting firmly on the fence. I'm long a couple of consumer staples, a consumer durable, a financial and some speculative calls on a garbage financial, and I'm long the $SH and PSQ. Today's an adding to the $SH and $PSQ day, in anticipation of Lucy pulling the football away from Charlie Brown, yet one more time. Much as I'd like to be a believer, and I really would, I don't trust the rally enough to go whole hog on the long side yet!

- AMargolis: I have been short since the discussion of the inverse ETFs and the idea of waiting for a pullback for entry. Unfortunately the pullback has continued beyond what I expected. I am holding $SDS and $PSQ and am close to my stops. Would love to have a chance to buy more here but would like to see some signs of an end to this uptick before going in further. It is very frustrating.
- jmcgee66: I'm a short man (on brains) Made the mistake of taking the big bet on the short side beginning last week and added to it on Monday and yesterday. By the time I heard @Dan say don't make a big bet, I had already made a big bet. Stopped out of $SEF early this am, but still holding $SH and $PSQ by my fingertips. Was feeling kind of in a funk before going short (basically not making money..or losing money), but now I really have had the wind knocked out of me. Move over on that bench. I need to sit.
- psa_gwiz: sold my shares on $BAC (happy) today and $SH, $PSQ (not so happy). I was expecting the market to go down but instead it broke that neck line and kept going up. Started a new position in $USB and $NBR both are just over the 50EMA with tight stops. I feel that energy will be moving up and had found its support around 59. I would have liked to get in coal but might not be the right time. After a big move like today I would expect pull back tomorrow. $JPM earnings are tomorrow before the bell. hype might already be in the market for $JPM to make a difference. Please let me know your thoughts on $USB and NBR.

I am holding out for these last two before pulling the trigger on them. It sounds like we got just the entry point @Dan was referring to.
- jmcgee66: @Phxpeh I can relate. Starting accumulating in $SH, $PSQ and $SEF last week. Realized per last night's video that I was too aggressive (per @Dan..don't go piling in). First hour in, I felt like I would be ok, but Mr. Market had other plans. I added to my positions today as better buy prices evolved, but still stinks being early..and wrong. Considered adding $SDS at the close, but decided these 3 shorts are good enough, for now. Sincerely, Wrong

The lower 10-yr Treasury yields may help on the mortgage front, so it's ... - jmcgee66: 886..yesterday's resistance. I am wondering at what point would you get out of the recent recommended index short positions (SH and $PSQ in particular). Cover the short if the market closes above this resistance level or if it simply gives us a higher high which it just missed.

(Note: These are the correct tickers -- per jan's note below.) - 10kken: QQQQ goes long on the NASDAQ 100. You can also short the $NDX by using $PSQ or #shorting it at double intesity with QID. These are ProShares ETFs.
- suzie76040: My question is: Are $QID, $SDS or $MZZ optionable? I can't seem to pull up an #options chain on them. I am trying to decide what index has the most downside to I can buy the appropriate Ultrashort ETF. I am going to wait to see what happens tomorrow before I do it though. I think the $DOW is going to retest 12.800 or so. That would mean $QID or $PSQ for a trade. Half of me thinks we are due for a technical bounce, and half of me says we're going to retest because everyone says we have to before we can go higher.
