- scottrades: @rokey $NVS I see what you're looking at. To confirm the Cup & Handle you will want to see a move above 96.20. Nice uptrend right now.

- gwenzee: @Forexpro $ONCE $RHHBY Sold in Sept. and haven't looked at it recently. Thanks for bringing it to mind, again. I had previously bought this one @ $51.64. Almost exactly where it closed on Friday. It has been stairstepping up since first of the year. RHHBY has a HUGE pipeline. Don't know where ONCE will fit in. Any thoughts on that? ONCE has licensing and development development collaborations with $PFE and $NVS. What happens with these? Apparently announcement will be made on Monday (or before). There were other companies interested in ONCE. Where are they now? Will there be a bidding war? Thanks you for the heads up. Are you a buyer here?
- Forexpro: @gwenzee $ONCE $RHHBY $PFE $NVS Hey, Gwenzee, If the story that I saw in the WSJ is accurate, Roche is contemplating paying such an enormous premium relative to $ONCE's recent price that the bid is apparently meant to be preemptive. This industry isn't one where I can claim any expertise, so I can't evaluate with any confidence how the bid, if and when, will compare to book value, etc. I almost certainly won't be looking to buy, which doesn't mean that doing so won't prove to be worthwhile. Here's hoping that you're doing well, and enjoying the weekend; this will give us something else to look at come Monday AM. All the best!

I have been highly concentrated in healthcare, particularly the HMOs. $ANTM made a nh today. A few others are closing in. I have raised stops and have taken partial profits . in most. Nothing is totally immune in a downdraft. Eventually most things succumb and cash is king.
- mopick: @bRobert $DIS $MCD $DIN $AMGN $NVS $JNJ $LLY $DG $GLD $GDX $ANTM, at what point would you jettison $BX? I know you say it looks fine on the weekly, though I simply don't see that. Slowing economy means less private equity deals.
- Reif99: @bRobert $DIS $MCD $DIN $AMGN $NVS $JNJ $LLY $DG $GLD $GDX $ANTM I added to $CI and $WCG late
- bRobert: @Reif99 $DIS $MCD $DIN $AMGN $NVS $JNJ $LLY $DG $GLD $GDX $ANTM $CI $WCG You certainly are braver than most doing some buying today. The HMOs have been a great place to hide, make some money and weather the storm. I'm not sure how long that will last. Some negative divergences are starting to creep into the charts. Not an outright sell signal. A definite yellow flag. I have held several for a very long time, trading around a core, to take advantage of their zig/zag nature.
- bRobert: @mopick $DIS $MCD $DIN $AMGN $NVS $JNJ $LLY $DG $GLD $GDX $ANTM $BX We are at a juncture where some risk management is in order. We are 12% of the high. The 6% dividend can buy you only so much cover. WEEKLY is looking a bit bearish with a h&s top that could test $30 if triggered. A small h&s completed on the daily to the 34.50 area. A new larger one formed with the failure at the 50d .. The stock will need some work to get back on track. The volatility in the market reflects global economic uncertainty. There will be plenty of upside when the picture is clearer and the clouds have lifted.
- bRobert: $NVS . Nice Chart with well defined risk/reward. $100+ target Nice dividend. Seems like a cozy place to sit for a while
- bRobert: @gwenzee #OT Not exactly. When you do that you are feeling too cocky and are about to get slammed. I needed a little breather from the market to tend to other things and give me the pause that refreshes. I can't overemphasize the importance of a fresh clear head. I am happy with most of my positions. You all know most of my favorites and the time frame I keep. FYI While I have rolled some calls I haven't sold out of my $CGC $CRON . $BA Closed my hedges. Added. $LMT closed hedges. HMOs staying the course in the usual suspects. $ULTA $310 still next target. $DIN $100/$125 $DIS $130/140 Long term holds $DG $113 Still there Bought back hedges Looking to add to energy exposure. $BX haven't touched it. Collecting dividend. $AMGN Still favorite in biotech. with several other big cap names. Like $NVS weekly. More later.
- riskmanager: @bRobert $CGC $CRON $BA $LMT $ULTA $DIN $DIS $DG $BX $AMGN $NVS #OT Am I assuming correctly that you are selling calls for negative delta as your hedges?
- bRobert: @riskmanager $CGC $CRON $BA $LMT $ULTA $DIN $DIS $DG $BX $AMGN $NVS #OT Many of my positions are long term holds. After big runs I expect a pullback and do one of several steps to protect profits but stay involved. Roll deep in the money calls up to ATM call spreads.+- Buy some puts or put spreads. Sell calls and buy some puts (collar on Long deep in the money Leap calls) . MANY options strategies employed depending upon the particular situation. And yes negative delta is achieved.

- gwenzee: @darkenedaura #STOPS Today IBD had a column entitled "Best Offense Is A Good Defense." IBD has a 7%-8% sell rule. But, if a stock is behaving badly you don't have to wait for that loss. (Loss is based on your buy point, not its peak price.) When the market is in an uptrend but trading is choppy, aim to sell positions at 2%-3% below your buy point. Personally, I don't use stops on my long term holdings, i.e. $APPL, $MDVN, $GILD, $NVS to name a few. As many have already said, it depends on your buy point, size of position, your risk profile, etc. Hope this helps.
