  • DrScience: @debeers $CE Nice volatility squeeze on the daily and weekly charts, 3% above the 50 DMA and 8% above the 200. The bad news is that the monthly chart is somewhat scary, and the squeeze(s) could go on for weeks -- if past history repeats. The good news is that the stock has 10% upside into the end of the year -- if the current trend holds. I like 118.50 for the breakout, and $114 for a pullback buy.
  • debeers: $CE-If you were waiting for a big green candle, you just got one! Well run. Like it in the chem space from way back. Vinyl, plastics, price increases across the board all holding by industry, no one else dominates this space. Celanese Introduces Price Increases for Engineered Materials Polymer Products; Blames Tariffs and Rising Costs 8:45 AM ET, 08/16/2018 - MT Newswires 08:45 AM EDT, 08/16/2018 (MT Newswires) -- Celanese (CE), a specialty materials company, said pre-market Thursday that it has introduced price increases for its engineered materials polymer products, citing rising raw material costs and implementation of a 25 percent tariff on PBT and PET products imported to the US from China. That includes the company's propylene-based (PP) long fiber thermoplastics (LFT), including Celstran, and its polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) and polyethylene terephthalate (PET) compounded engineering plastics. The price increases will be effective for orders shipped on or after Aug. 23.
  • debeers: DAN /debeers-DAN follows Market Smith. I look for trends in the IBD rankings. For example, with $CE on 7/25 it earned a ratings upgrade from composite 63 to 71. Today, one month later, the $CE composite stands at 86. This tells me that not only do i like it but that smart money likes it as well and, further likes it over 10 per cent more than it did a mere month ago..In the commodity space, see whose price increases hold. $CE has a tremendous record in this regard.China cannot duplicate this technology (yet).

  • Forexpro: @GOOSE #Expected Hey, Goose, Hope you're enjoying the weekend. Yeah, looking at the at the money straddle for the nearest expiry is a quick and dirty way of calculating the expected move to that date and you're correct, the width of the strikes doesn't matter for purposes of the exercise. $BAC reports Monday; ToS, which does more involved math, shows a "Market Makers Move" of 0.53. $BAC has strikes for Friday's expiry that are only 0.50 apart; adding the 28.5 put and call as of yesterday's close gives an answer of 0.75. $CE reports on Friday. ToS shows a Market Makers Move of 4.16; the 110 calls and puts for Friday expiry come to 4.65. So, a ballpark figure, but not necessarily machine-tooled precision. Take care, and all the best!

  • robbins: @neemaf $CE. Thank you for that shopping list idea. It's intriguing. I would pay a lot more attention to what DAN would say on this than on what I would say. With that caveat... It looks to me like it is bouncing on the daily chart, so if the time frame is relatively short and the stop is in just under $50, maybe. For a long term hold, I don't see a bounce yet on the 3 year chart, so if it's for a long term hold, I would watch for a clear bounce off the 200 period moving average before I would start a long term position. If it slices through that support, I would call it a no touch.

A Short term indicator I use: 5MA vs. 20MA sees the 5MA accelerating downward after a failed XUp of the 20 on 12/11. Parabolic $SAR downward pressure began 12/13 @ $ 57.75.
