Oil is up this morning and $XLE is creeping towards levels we haven’t touched since 2015. Some of this is driven by geopolitical pressures but will not help the Fed in terms of getting inflation under control.

- TraderGeekSam: $XLE The energy space is nearing the top of a two-year wedge, so you may want to trim some exposure up here.
- Nepenthe: @TraderGeekSam $XLE I did today, via $ERX in which I have had a substantial position for a week or so, with an entry at 59. Going forward, however, XLE appears to be 'breaking out', tepidly if you will, on a weekly chart, with two lines of resistance, 93.67 and 94.71 ahead. Am I reading this correctly? I find many times I'm not, or overlooking something that more experienced traders would scoff at. Cheers.
- TraderGeekSam: @Nepenthe $XLE $ERX Yes, it appears to be breaking out but could also break down. Energy is overbought and susceptible to a pullback. I'm often early to be cautious, but just monitor the breakout for follow-though and be quick to exit if it fails (assuming it's a short term trade.)

- Watching $FTI again, which is bouncing at the December lows/the July consolidation region but also looks like it has a date with 200sma - bigbartabs: @oldtimer $USO $XOP $GUSH $UNG $XLE $XLF $XLV ... glad it helps. Over time... I have simplified my trading by staying at a higher level... mainly the index derivatives (1x triggering the 3x ETFs), and then the major sectors (the same, 1x triggering the 3x ETFs). Sometimes I'll trade some individual tickers... but that's not where I buy and sell in size, like I do at the index and sector level trades. I have enough trouble staying on top of indexes and sectors, let alone hundreds of individual stocks. Of course everyone has their druthers... developed over decades of trading. FWIW... all the best buddy... sounds like you are doing just fine at this crazy "job" we all decided to bite off! ==:O

I put my $NVDA Dec 460/450 bear call spread back on now that earnings has passed with a flat response. My logic is if slowing guidance is enough to overcome blowing out the revenue expectations, then it seems like institutions are foreseeing less rapid growth which therefore lowers the growth premium, but we do have the christmas rally coming up so I may be wrong again. $GLD is holding it's gap despite a bounce in the dollar today. $XLE back under pressure today. Despite the macro headwinds, I'm amazed by how resilient the tech sector is. $QQQ is still comfortably above the 200 Day MA and even Bitcoin is holding steady as it consolidates between the 50 Day and 200 Day. On the other hand, the banking sector $ ... - maracom: Good morning all! $XLE broke hard yesterday, I'm pretty much out of energy except for $UNG which is starting to show signs of life. There could be some other bounce trades out there but I'm not seeing anything too tempting, maybe a $TLT long call for a reversion to the mean trade. Seems like the default move to hide in tech is the main play right now but I'm still uninterested. Main thing I'm keeping an eye out for is a $UUP pullback #Trading: Long $UNG #LTA: Long $NEM $FCX $SLV, tiny $DVN placeholder

Started a (small) position on $OXY this am ~60. $XRPO(a 2021 merger with Frank's International and Expro) has a couple of meaningful patterns (imho), one an inv h&s from 10/2021 to~3/2023 and a small c&h from Mar-July.
