  • Onthemark: Some stocks up so far, $TM, $SONY, $RTX and $TMO
  • woodman: $TSLA $F $GM $TM #Volkswagen - What auto EV company wil take up the charge to supercharge with Tesla laying off its supercharger team? And what of all those federal subsidies Musk took - free money to him - for the charging system? Billionaires never acknowledge how they are benefitted by the socialism they decry. Really sucks for all the companies that came on-board to Tesla's charging systems. Now they wait to see what the fallout will be. https://www.theverge.com/2024/4/30/24145621/tesla-layoff-supercharger-ev-charging-nacs-elon-musk https://finance.yahoo.com/news/musk-disbands-tesla-ev-charging-202301433.html
  • DavidK: @woodman $TSLA $F $GM $TM #Volkswagen Musk needs to slowly sell his Tesla stock and buy Disney . Saving an American company that touches many more lives would leave a more positive impact on society than driverless taxis and all the other nonsense being thrown around . When he develops a vehicle like the Jetsons , then I am interested . Until then , I will drive a battery powered golf cart only . Let’s put a Mr in front of Mickey Mouse’s name again .
  • woodman: @DavidK $TSLA $F $GM $TM #Volkswagen - His Hyperloop in Las Vegas is another Musk cash-grab that has yielded nothing except making him even more wealthy. The only thing true about it was the first 4 letters in its name.
  • DavidK: @woodman $TSLA $F $GM $TM #Volkswagen I don’t blame him for taking money from the corrupt govt . Look at all the worthless companies these WallStreet Crooks bring public knowing damn well 90% will fail . Insiders and underwriters getting rich . 🤑

  • joelsg1: $TSLA CNBC gives their air to a bear "analyst" who's been wrong about TSLA forever and now says it is way overvalued compared to $TM, seemingly ignorant of today's news that Toyota subsidiary Daihatsu overseen by TM admits to faking safety data for the past 30 years and suspended production!!! Brazen FUD. https://www.cnn.com/2023/12/27/business/daihatsu-japan-production-halt-safety-tests-intl-hnk?cid=ios_app
  • Henry: @joelsg1 $TM Compared to my 2017 Highlander, my 2023's backup camera is an absolute piece of crap.
  • woodman: @joelsg1 $TSLA $TM - Tesla is lacking in the clean hands department as well. Maybe it's just how auto manufacturers operate in general. https://www.carscoops.com/2023/12/u-s-senators-call-on-tesla-to-recall-allegedly-faulty-suspension-components/
  • joelsg1: @woodman $TSLA $TM A few questioned parts with no injury vs 30 Years of fudged safety data!
  • traderbren: @joelsg1 $TSLA $TM - yep, I didn't see it, but they keep giving air to the $TSLA bear analyst(s) who have stayed bearish throughout the swings in the stock. They come on with the same sob story time & again. There is moolah to be made on the swings.
  • curtis: @joelsg1 $TSLA $TM (I added on news they are introducing New Model Y in China)
  • Henry: $TM Anyone been to any car dealers lately? I took my Toy in for service and wandered over to the new cars. They ONLY HAD ONE, a Camry. My son tells me there are plenty of Fords because they jacked their prices up. He recently sold his Ford and bought a Tacoma.
  • scottrades: @Henry $TM There was a news story in Alberta that mentioned some Dealers are purposefully not bringing stock onto the lot to maintain pricing power.
  • woodman: @Henry $TM - I don't step foot on dealership soil unless absolutely necessary. They so over-charge for service. My independent mechanic is worth his weight in gold.
  • kycol: @Henry $TM My 3 year old Tacoma is worth more than I paid for it: great little pickup!
  • woodman: @kycol $TM - The new and used car market is still out of control with the prices. I have a couple buddies who sell/buy vehicles. One buys and sells at auctions and has many repeat clients. He said he can't in good conscience by vehicles for a lot of his clients because prices are still so high. Prices are coming down, perhaps, but still nuts. He's always been down on buying new vehicles, but feels it may make more sense to do that given the inflated used car market. Better than it was, but still not acceptable in his eyes. For him to say that is telling.
  • kycol: $TM going to make it's own batteries; 900 mile range; AH pop; while i have most #autos = NP
  • Docoof: @kycol $TM #autos I think that was known yesterday before the market opened, but I very well could be wrong. CNBC is reporting that today the stock is up pre because shareholders re-elected chairman Akio Toyoda to the board, in a broad endorsement of the company’s governance and new electric vehicle strategy.
  • Docoof: @kycol $TM #autos Link: https://www.cnbc.com/amp/2023/06/14/toyota-shares-rise-as-shareholders-endorse-board-new-ev-strategy.html
  • DavidK: @Docoof $TM #autos surprised Toyota caved to the EV CRAZE. If they do have a battery that allows a 900 mile range then the other want be car makers will get left in the dust

  • Ajax4Hire: @Pokersmith $F $GM #MustangMachE #F150Lightning #BlueOvalCity Technically, $GM EV sales are negative after the Bolt recall. All of the legacy ICE(Internal Combustion Engine) manufactures $CARZ, $GM, $TM, $F, $VLKAF, $HNDAF, $HYMTF are waaaaaaay behind $TSLA Best way to win a race is start before everyone else and $TSLA started decades ago.
  • Ajax4Hire: @bRobert $QS My concern is $QS like $WNDW is new, unproven technology(maybe never proven). If $QS actually had solid-state battery, would have been bought as soon as known by $GM, $F, $TSLA, $NIO, $TM, $VLKAF, $WKHS, $HNDAF, $HYMTF, $TTM
  • Ajax4Hire: @spmeyers $TSLA $GM $VLKAF $TM True, China will most likely eschew $TSLA for a local, very lo-cost manufacture. But that will not directly compete with the hi-cost $TSLA. And, $TSLA is also "state sponsored" thru subsidy and "green energy" initiatives. I see a company taking full advantage of modern manufacturing process. And a company producing 21st century products: EVs, Batteries, Solar, SpaceX
  • Ajax4Hire: @spmeyers $TSLA The way I see it... $TSLA knows how to make personal transportation for the 21st century where $GM, $VLKAF, $TM build cars using last century methods. $GM and $VLKAF are local, government sponsored make work companies. More focus on keeping a large workforce happy than producing at lowest cost. That is good for local communities but not good for competing internationally. In 3-5years, $VLKAF-Volkswagen EV Tiguan will be built by 3x more auto workers than $TSLA. The best way to win a race is start before everyone else. $TSLA is waaaaay ahead of everyone else. This analysis does not include $TSLA Battery, Solar and SpaceX business.
  • spmeyers: @Ajax4Hire $TSLA $GM $VLKAF $TM you may be right, but there is a long history of countries favoring their nation's car companies (for the reasons you mention); certainly China will not allow Tesla to be the big dog in that market
  • Pokersmith: #ChinaCarSales Japanese automakers Honda Motor Co Ltd($HMC), Nissan Motor Co Ltd($NSANF) and Toyota Motor Corp($TM) saw their sales in China tumble in September as a chip shortage hit vehicle production in the world's biggest car market. Honda said it sold 121,448 vehicles in China last month, down 28% from a year earlier due to the COVID-19 pandemic and a shortage of components. Nissan said it sold 104,443 cars, down 26%, due to "external headwind including the ongoing pandemic, cross-industry material shortages, slowdowns, and increased competition." Toyota said it sold 115,000 cars, down 36%. Separately, U.S. automaker General Motors Co($GM), which only reports quarterly China sales, said it sold over 623,000 in July through September, down 19% from the same period last year, "impacted by the ongoing global semiconductor supply chain disruption."

The company's earnings should grow rapidly as GM becomes more cost-efficient. 2.GM's U.S. hourly labor cost is about $5 billion compared with about $16 billion in 2005 under the old GM. 3.GM can charge thousands of dollars more per vehicle in light-truck segments. Higher prices with fewer incentive dollars allow GM to get more margin per vehicle The real answer is behind door #2.

  • Ajax4Hire: @bRobert $TSLA Not sure how that is different from many other stocks. $TSLA does have a "cult-of-personality" with the vocal champions, primarily the CEO, Elon Musk; but $TSLA is also the biggest Electric Vehicle company on the planet. Additonally, $TSLA is a battery manufacture, a dominant in Solar Power producer. So many equate the CEO personality with the fundamentals of the underlying company. Primary US car makers: $GM-General Motors, $F-Ford, $FCAM(Chrysler/Dodge) and others($TM-Toyota, $HMC-Honda, $VLKAF-Volkswagon, etc.) never had real incentive to change. $TSLA started out as a 21st century vehicle maker(EV). That is why I am bullish(long-term) on $TSLA-Tesla.

  • Ajax4Hire: @joelsg1 $TSLA I have mentioned before but bears repeating; $TSLA-Tesla is a battery company disguised as a car manufacture. $TSLA is the also leader in the Electric Vehicle(EV) category; single-handedly creating a new market where $GM, $F-Ford, $TM-Totota, $FUJHF-Subaru, $HMC-Honda and others lag. Additionally, $TSLA is also a Solar Power($SCTY-Solar City) company. California mandates Solar Power and forcing all EV by 2035 giving $TSLA a huge built-in market. "As CA goes so goes the USA", MegaTrends $TSLA demand outstrips production(both EV and Solar Power). If $TSLA could produce more, $TSLA could make more profit. I finish by quoting Sandy Munro: "$TSLA lies, they always UNDER-STATE their abilities" EV range, capacity, acceleration all better than quoted by $TSLA. $TSLA is a new economy company for the new decade. Yes, Elon Musk can cloud analysis $TSLA. Seek truth from facts. Deng Xiaoping
  • Ajax4Hire: @lostsheep $ENPH $HTZ $CCL $HTZ - Hertz has a huge parking lot of revenue potential. Yes, all those cars will be sold at a significant discount(loss). This will hurt $F, $GM, $TM new car sales but could help $CVNA, $KMX, $AN used car sales. $CVNA, $KMX, $AN should be working with a bank to get line-of-credit and buy a significant portion of $HTZ inventory
  • Ajax4Hire: @DAN $TSLA $TSLA is a(an?) $187B company; $F - Ford is $25B; $GM - General Motors is $39B; $TM - Toyota Motors is $175B(only one close) $HMC - Honda Motors is $45B. $TSLA can sell 100% of everything they make; $TSLA has customers lined up waiting to buy their cars. $TSLA is the only company with their car in outer space, ace, ace, ace. $TSLA is opening up new dealers on Mars. Get your (self) to Mars! https://youtu.be/53ARrp7x4bQ?t=109
  • Ajax4Hire: @shoredriver $TSLA Yes, $TSLA has the enviable position of a customer base that will buy 100% of all production. $GM, $F, $TM, $HNDAF(Honda), $HYMPF(Hyundai), $KIMTF(Kia) do not. Additonally, $TSLA now owns Solar City; Again, can sell 100% of all Solar Panel systems. And $TSLA Solar systems are highly loved. If/when $TSLA can make more, $TSLA can sell more, can make more profit. So, yes, easy to be bullish on $TSLA.
