  • GOOSE: TRADES: $PBI STO 10/22/22 44.0 NTM CALLS @.90 2+ day's to go. Covered
  • shoredriver:
  • Docoof: @GOOSE $PBI = $PBF?
  • Bert953: @bRobert $WYNN Just curious, when was your entry. its good trading when you buy at the breakout (rather than the fakeout) point. sadly some of the ones I thought looked tasty, have disappointed (so far), like $SPCE, $XONE, $NIO $PBI. They are still in play, but havent moved yet.... maybe next week.
  • Sher: $PBI - Back in after trading out of my calls, yesterday, w-a-y too early - Thought I was savvy taking 160+% in profits, only to have them jump another 850%! Yes, I should have used a trailing stop and, yes, I left several thousand on the table - Although it seemed a short squeeze was in play, I never dreamed it would propel an 81% gain in stock price. Just after selling (of course) I saw an SC 13G filing by Blackrock reflecting ownership of 25,330,336 shares representing 14.6% of class - So, a short squeeze was not the only propellant. Thus my reentry this morning... They report on the 2nd. and revenue projections are for a 13% YOY increase.
  • Sher: $PBI - "Jumpin" - Now up 13.6%! $PBI - Day 3 of phase 3 - Up another 3.6%, today - Easy, serene hold... Yesterday: $PBI - New position - Nice bullish reversal underway... day 2 of phase 3 - Up 4 %, today - Report on the 2nd. and revenue expectations are for a YOY increase of 12% - Long Feb. $7 calls with stock currently trading @ $7.50.
  • KL01: @Sher $PBI Took a bite last post, Thank You!
  • Sher: $PBI - Just checked and it seems there's a bit of a short squeeze going on (8 days to cover) - Stock now up 23%...
  • Sher: @KL01 $PBI - Great timing... stock now up 23%!
  • DrScience: @Sher $PBI #TOS had the stock NTB around 8 bucks when you posted earlier. Now, stock is ETB. Evidently shorts covered quickly before social media got hold of another rocket launch. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
  • DrScience: @Sher $PBI Took a quick ride on FEB 8 Calls @ 1.80, sold @ 2.30. 25% gain in 15 minutes.
  • Sher: @DrScience $PBI #TOS - I'm a bit of a dunce when it comes to trading acronyms... NTB/ETB?
  • loser: @Sher $PBI #TOS ETB/HTB mean "easy to borrow" and "hard to borrow". Not sure about NTB. Maybe "none to borrow"? Just guessing.
  • Sher: @DrScience $PBI - Just closed out my second batch of $8 calls for 160% in gains... Should have used a trailing stop - It's still screaming...
  • Sher: @loser $PBI #TOS - Thanks... Obviously I have no imagination!
  • Sher: $GAN - Another new position, today - Money flow and momentum picking up, nicely - Up 7+%, today - Great L/R chart and back above VWAP - Long Feb. $25 calls and adding... $PBI - New position - Nice bullish reversal underway... day 2 of phase 3 - Up 4 %, today - Report on the 2nd. and revenue expectations are for a YOY increase of 12% - Long Feb. $7 calls with stock currently trading @ $7.50.

  • mogo: $PBI in a phase 3 breakout today
  • mogo: $PBI Not sure if this is worth anything but this stock has been trending down since 2014 and finally broke out this week.
  • Henry: @mogo $PBI Used to be one of Jan2138's favorites. When the market has stocks, like $AMD making big moves from the top right of the chart, is the bottom right corner of the chart where you want to find ideas?
  • mogo: @Henry $PBI $AMD You're right. I don't usually watch stocks like this but it looks like a volatility squeeze on the daily chart. The BBs got pretty tight in mid-July. I hopped in on 7/31 after it popped on 7/30. The volume went nuts after that.
  • Henry: @mogo $PBI $AMD I agree with your chart analysis. I get the appeal, buy 1000 shares of a $4 stock and it it goes up a buck you've made $1K, or you can buy 1 share of $AMZN and wait for it to go up 1000 bucks. Some people in the forum make money in stocks in the lower right corner. If that's your technique, don't let me dissuade you.
  • mogo: @Henry $PBI $AMD $AMZN It's not at all my M.O. This was just a flyer so I sized the trade properly. Now it just needs to go back to 2014 levels! :-) BTW I do appreciate your feedback.

  • Wolf: $PBI Sold @ 8.10 for a buck in a week. That was a gift.
  • Wolf: $PBI Bottom fishing. Started a small position @ 7.10 with a tight stop. FYI, no longer a yieldhog since they cut Div from .18 to .05. Analyst give a bullish rating of 8.9.
  • Wolf: @jan2138 $PBI I started a position @ 9.05 with the expectation it will fill the earnings gap.. Maybe I will collect a dividend ;-). Not giving it much room.
  • PJMR11: @Wolf $PBI I am with you.
  • Wolf: @jan2138 $PBI Remember a few years ago when $PBI got bumped into the yieldhog category? It's there again. 8.83 paying .18 Div = 8.51%. 52 week low on 5/4 of 8.30.
  • jan2138: @Wolf $PBI One of the worst experiences I've ever had. I sold it, and it ran way up. I had a big position and left a ton on the table. But look at it now. It has really tanked over the last 4 years.
  • Henry: $PBI Wednesday Pete Najarian saw big Oct call activity, yesterday news broke that CBOE was replacing them in the S&P 500 Today the are putting in a momentum hammer on big volume. long Apr calls
  • Wolf: $PBI Down 18% after earnings miss. @jan2138 do you remember trading PBI as a yieldhog a few years ago when it was yielding 13% dividend?
  • jan2138: @Wolf $PBI Yes I do. I remember selling it when, as I remember, the new CEO cut the dividend. It was the dumbest trade I ever made. The shares skyrocketed over time, and I missed out on a big, big profit. Ugh. I had forgotten that. Sorry you mentioned it.
  • dunsek: $PBI is looking interesting. Sharp uptrend since early Feb, hit resistance around 21.5, 3 day pull back with a long tail well below the 8 ema on Wednesday, and an inside day yesterday closing above the 8. A struggle for dominance in which it looks like the buyers may have the edge, so a move above yesterday's high would be informative. Could have another 15% in it.

  • mepcc1: @issues $PBI It was a lot lower when I first saw it this morning - Schwab showing 3.61% down - for a one day loss, this is pretty big on no news.

  • Forexpro: Re: $PBI Hi, Friends, Long $PBI at 26.63, short Jul 27 calls at 0.65, short Jul 25 puts at 0.40, net capital at risk 25.58, 3.9% below the current spot price. There are 58 days until expiry; if called away, the return is 1.42, 5.5% on capital at risk, or 34.9% annualized (before commissions). If put, the full position will be established at 25.29, 5% below the current price. Here's the chart, which I would characterize as "sideways to up". http://tos.mx/1sErCx The dividend yield is 2.8%, and the next payment of 0.1875 goes ex- on May 28. We'll see how it goes; all the best.
  • jan2138: @Forexpro $PBI: I remember when this was a double digit yielder, and I was long for quite awhile. Then, they brought in a new CEO who cut the dividend considerably so, I sold my position. It turned out to be a big mistake. They happen =: )
  • bigbartabs: @jan2138 $PBI... why was dropping this one a mistake? At such a low yield, that doesn't make the grade for a yield hog these days. No?
  • jan2138: @bigbartabs $PBI; it was a mistake because I sold it @$13.69, $70,000. ago. I forget what I replaced it with so, the hit might not be nearly that bad with dividends and share appreciation in the replacement. I try not to think about it =: )
  • Forexpro: Re: $PBI Hi, Friends, $PBI is getting a nice pop on the back of a favorable feature article in Barron's over the weekend, and although I mentioned that I was "interested", that unfortunately means "not yet long". I'm much less enthused about chasing it here, and something around 25 looks like a more comfortable entry, if the ticker will be kind enough to pull back that far: http://tos.mx/Rj21du All the best.
  • Forexpro: @moneyHoHo Hi, MoneyHoHo, Here's hoping that you're thriving. The Barron's piece was actually on $PBI, but I did ask ToS to calculate the correlation between $PBR and $EWZ, and as you no doubt expected, the moving average over the past 20 sessions is running around 0.97. Owning one is about as good as owning t'other. :) Take care, and all the best.

  • BuffaloBill: I made up a formula for finding a BB volativity #squeeze and beginning to breakout and came up with these Using the components of the $QQQ and the SP-500 and ended up with the following 21 $JEC $GAS $CSX MON $PAYX UNP $AMP HCP $BK GS $AFL PFE $PBI FDX $AIZ EL $NOV RHI $VTR HCN $PBCT These may make for a good watch list tomorrow. • SeaKingA: #yieldhog $PBI - As @BuffaloBill noted, $PBI is in a volatility #squeeze of 5% and is testing $26 - the top of the channel formed between 2009 and 2012. If the channel has meaning, expect the stock to pull back, but set an alert for a breakout. Such an event indicates buyers are disregarding the channel.

  • hooked1: $PBI - I was just looking at that. If I recall, they had crappy earnings, but that does not seem to matter. • Casper: $PBI ... Pitney Bowes lowers #dividend to 18.75c In connection with the ongoing management of the company's capital structure, the Board of Directors of Pitney Bowes approved a reduced second quarter #dividend of 18.75c per share for the company's common stock. The quarterly cash #dividend is payable June 12 to stockholders of record on May 10. The company said, "This action will provide the company the added financial flexibility to invest in its business and enhance its capital structure, while continuing to provide a very competitive return to shareholders." Not sure what to do at this point. Have a half position in this company. Certainly Not what I wanted to hear but I haven't heard the conference call yet. Any comments will be deeply appreciated. have a great day everyone. @Mike
  • mtnman: $PBI Wow - that's a 50% decrease. Stock is down almost 10% pre-market. Don't own this one but was considering it. 4.6% yield not bad but no longer a real yield hog stock.
  • Lou: $PBI - out this morning at 14.43 - very modest cap gain and I got paid for holding it. Don't see much upside, but that's just a guess. @Lou
  • sos: $PBI - ##dividend history - PBI's #dividend history until today looked stellar--slowly increasing/never decreasing over since at least 2000. My only thought is #dividend track record is not much to go on.
  • Lou: $MGM - redeployed proceeds from $PBI sale into more of MGM.
  • jan2138: $PBI @ sos; not always, but it is only part of an overall due diligence process. Analyzing the numbers that produce those dividends is important. Just like a good looking chart which is an historical illustration of price action is not, by any means, a 100% accurate picture of the future behavior, a #dividend recored is not a 100% guarantee of future payouts. To say "a #dividend track record is not much to go on" is an unfair generalization.
  • macphee: $PBI @jan2138 and others: Didn't someone on SMM say that $PBI was one of just a few firms who might be approved to technically handle the new Internet Sales Tax Nightmare for online sales when the bill is passed? Gearing up for this will likely cost them. Could $PBI be wanting to have more cash to hire people for this project? If so, could this be a buying opportunity? Anyone know who the other firms are who will benefit from this bill?
  • sos: $PBI @jan2138 Thanks for all you do and share!--I'm still trying to learn what I should do. Certainly I buy in to the "no guarantee" and the no single indicator concepts; just frustrated that I still do not know what to really look at with #dividend "safety". The payout ratio had not exceeded its historical value. In retrospect, I guess the total liabilities to stockholder equity should have been my signal. Other comments appreciated. I'm still profitable on $PBI, for now.
  • Stormy: $PBI Glad I avoided this one. When it was brought up here I thought about it but couldn't see the upside given the decline in snail mail. #CNBC call $PBI an ice melting story. I agree, unless they can remake the business model. For ten years I had one of their meters and paid $165.00 per month. Not any more. Thinking of buying some puts. Stormy
  • jdaniels: $PBI - A heart wrenching price decline is always hard to accept, however a #dividend cut was well anticipated as I mentioned several weeks ago. Managements decision to cut the #dividend only makes good business sense. This will allow the company to focus on restructuring and become a profitable player in the future. Thus the return to rewarding shareholders. The new CEO is welcomed by me as I thought the #dividend should have been cut some time ago. Looks like someone is finally steering this ship. Price currently bounced off 200dma. I sold half my position into the close yesterday. Will watch for it to firm up and will probably add to my position when I am confident it has found a new floor.
  • jan2138: $PBI @macphee: I have seen some info. posted here in the forum. It may or may not be totally accurate but the fact remains that this is no longer a high yielder and as such, its merits must now be judged differently, i.e. as a value play as opposed to a generous #dividend payer and will be a long term hold for a different reason.
  • jan2138: $PBI @ Stormy; that's what makes markets. However, some of us made excellent entries, held on collecting the dividends and in spite of the serious gap down today, have had a satisfactory experience with a double digit annualized gain. So, you may feel good about avoiding this and some may wish they had because their entries were not as propitious as those made by others, but again, that's what makes markets.
  • wildfire3d: $PBI - since i went into it for the #dividend, i went ahead and sold today. While it would have been nice to have had a huge profit from yesterday, i still had a reasonable profit which is just gravy on top of the dividends i collected, so i am n ...
  • Stormy: $PBI @jan2138 I agree 100% with you. Glad you did well with this one. Dikn't you bring it to the forum a year or so ago? Thanks for all you do. In the last 3 years your yield hogs have been my best trades, with capital appreciation, dividends, combined with good entries. I am applying this strategy to buying some stocks. And doing much better. Stormy
  • Big D: $PBI - I took a flyer when it came back up through the 10:45 bounce-back high at 13.58. I'm going to see if I can turn this in to a swing trade from a day trade. Needs to get goin'. Edit, 3:32 pm - $PBI out 13.89 for 2.3% when it started to fall back. Then it tanked....worth the try.
  • jan2138: #yieldhogs: PBI; I think we all learned something. You can do all the due diligence in the world and still get blindsided by a #dividend cut. JDaniels made some good points but nevertheless, it was very possible that the company would take a differen ...
  • jan2138: #yieldhogs: PBI; since it is no longer paying a generous #dividend, I decided to take my profits and run. It does not fit my plan, and I do own some non or low #dividend issues. $PBI does not fit in my plan for those either.
  • bybyjanice: #yieldhogs: PBI@jan2138: @Dana, $PBI has struggled for years right along with the printing industry. I have noted a local $PBI office cut most employees and reduced rental space in the last 5 years. I was surprised that they benefitted in the Production and Mail and Mail Service segments since many mail houses have gone under and companies are still not ordering alot of printed matter, but rather relying more on the internet. I remain skeptical on the business model because of the economy and other means of technology. Both industries may meet the dinosaurs in the near future.
  • Lavrock: $PBI - As #yieldhogs may not pay attention to open interest in #options, I wanted to point out that there is extremely high and unusually bullish interest in $PBI call #options. Outstanding calls for May strikes 15 (10,001), 16 (8,844) and 17 (2,235). Quite possible the 17s represent sales on 15/17 call spreads. May 12 puts have outstanding interest of 10,089 which I interpret as naked short sales used to finance long calls. Also, June 16 have outstanding interest of 6.160. All bullish. In fact, these numbers could reflect prior knowledge of a bullish corporate announcement.
  • jan2138: $PBI @Lavrock; thanks for that info., especially the conclusion, because up to that point, it was like reading Chinese for me as a low info. #options guy.
  • Lavrock: $PBI - by the way the phrase I used "reflect prior knowledge" would have translated to insider trading back in my early years as a Wall Street lawyer. And, it could have gotten you a nasty lawsuit from the SEC. On the #options comments, if you are bullish, one strategy is to finance the purchase of a call by selling a put and collecting the premium from that sale. Selling May 12 puts on $PBI is a low risk trade today as there is over a 90% probability that the stock will close above that price at the expiration of the May option contracts.
  • jan2138: $PBI @Lavrock: I know what you mean. As a former Wall St. bond guy who sat on a trading desk doing his best to make sure his traders and sales people did not front run accounts, I was making every effort to avoid those nasty lawsuits=:+)
