- Geewhiz: @Wolf $JEPQ $JEPI $QQQI $SPYI $FDRXX $RITM $TSLX $HTGC $ARCC $AOD $EXG $ETY $ETV $SAR $STWD $UTF $AMLP @Jan2138 a gentleman and a scholar. My yield hogs $ADAMN $BBDC $ARCC $BCBF $MPLX $RWAY $AMLP $JEPQ $TSLX. Nice to see comments on yield.
- Lou: With my continued confidence that the large $BA short put positions will not get put to me, I continue to redeploy cash into my MLPs. I now have very large positions, and a few small short put positions, in units of $ET $EPD $MPLX $BSM $PAA and $WES. Love the tax deferred cash flow the MLPs generate!
- Lou: Were I not full and wanting to add to my tax deferred CF, I'd nibble on MLPs to add to existing positions. They all look actionable today and, except for $ET, are up a tiny bit. Best entries today $ET $EPD $MPLX. Love the other three I hold as well, but I'd want to nibble slowly. I think that I'm done for the day.
- Lou: Other than $WELL, $ARDX and $FTI, a few not very significant placeholder positions, and a couple of losers, my holdings today are divided among very large positions in MLPs. I just love them and have made outsized bets on them. By far my largest position is in $ET. I also have large positions in $BSM $EPD $MPLX $BSM $PAA $USAC $WES - I hold these positions because they are large, tax deferred, cash flow generators. Most of the annual distributions are treated as reductions in tax basis. As I've previously posted, they provide me with tax deferred yields of between ~ 7+% and ~9% and when I die, my estate will get a step up in basis. EDIT - I did forget the red headed stepchild in my portfolio - $BA - major loser for me and I'm still full of, what @DAN calls #hopium!
- Lou: Not doing much other than I added to my large position in my energy MLPs - added today to $PAA and $USAC. Holding very large positions in $ET $EPD $MPLX and smaller positions in $BSM $PAA and $USAC. BTW, $FTI and $WELL, two positions that I believe I introduced to this board, today again took out their previous all-time highs.
- Carpe_Diem: @Lou $PAA $USAC $ET $EPD $MPLX $BSM $FTI $WELL - Looks Like I hold a few similar names in the MLP space. $ET $PAA and several others. Have you ever looked at $TXO?
- Lou: @Carpe_Diem $PAA $USAC $ET $EPD $MPLX $BSM $FTI $WELL $TXO will look at it. I neglected to mention a moderate position in $WES.
- Lou: @Carpe_Diem $PAA $USAC $ET $EPD $MPLX $BSM $FTI $WELL $TXO - I took a quick look at $TXO and will pass on any opportunity there - too much debt, terrible Quick Ratio, and a footprint that fails to inspire. In short, no story that would make me want to explore it further.
- Carpe_Diem: @Lou $PAA $USAC $ET $EPD $MPLX $BSM $FTI $WELL $TXO $WES - I also have some $CQP $OKE $OVV $VNOM and the $TXO.
- Lou: @champ $KMI #Low-risk. - I like it but prefer the tax deferred cash flow from the MLPs in the same business. I own a number of them, enjoy the CF that is treated for tax purposes as return of capital. I own relatively large positions in $ET $EPD and $MPLX as well as some $USAC and $WES. Helps me sleep at night as I know how Uncle will help me cover my cash flow needs, and I don't have to pay him back.
- champ: @Lou $KMI $ET $EPD $MPLX $USAC $WES #Low-risk. ......I like all of them RHRN....and I'm in that large Natural-Gas mover $KMI, they move over 40% of all of the N-gas in the U.S., plus they have other nice earning-streams, with even more coming on-line monthly. Good Luck! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ .....The winter months is the Key-driver, going to need a lot of Natural gas move around this winter.....and its going to get #Real-Cold-Outside.......
- barbjim12: @Lou $KMI $ET $EPD $MPLX $USAC $WES #Low-risk. Do all of these require K-1 reporting for tax purposes?
- phgruver: @barbjim12 $KMI $ET $EPD $MPLX $USAC $WES #Low-risk. $KMI does not issue a K-1, it's a normal joint stock company that pays a 4.52% dividend. It's at the low end of the 52 week range, so I could be a decent buy RHRN. (I'm a long term holder.)
- Lou: @barbjim12 $KMI $ET $EPD $MPLX $USAC $WES #Low-risk. The ones that I own do report via K-1s, and that's a good thing for me. $KMI does not, that's why I don't own it. Most of the MLP distributions (not "dividends") are tax deferred, meanin ...
- Lou: Love my #MLPs - Holding $ET (my very largest position, by far), $EPD and $MPLX. The ideal cash flow investment for retirees. One gets a lot of tax-deferred distributions, holds until death, estate gets a step up in basis. Great cash flow and no income taxes on the distributions. My usual CAVEAT - not to be purchased in tax deferred accounts such as IRAs etc. UBTI taxes apply.
- Lou: Fairly inactive today, though I did add a bit of $EPD to a fairly large position. Love the tax deferred distributions from $EPD (large position), $ET (very very large position) and $MPLX (more modest position). Those are forever buys for older investors, including codgers like I am; you buy, enjoy very large distributions, and then you die and your estate gets a step-up in basis. Usual caveat - DO NOT BUY IN TAX DEFERRED ACCOUNTS.
-
Lou: ...
My largest holding, by far is a relatively very large position in $ET. I also own two other MLPs, $EPD and $MPLX. - mopick: @Wolf $UTF, have this as well, added yesterday. Other yieldhogs, $O, $ADC, $JEPI, $JEPQ, $RNP, plus pipelines, $EPD, $MPLX, $ENB, all doing well with great yields
- mopick: $MPLX, love this driller, up 13% ytd, love to buy more, just doesn't go down, yielding over 7%
- mopick: $MPLX, ath, JV with Oneok to build a new large scale 400,000 barrel per day LPG export terminal in Texas. Multiple upgrades, stock still yielding 7%.

- mopick: $BKR, new high, added this oil service company yesterday. Own $ET, $MPLX, $EPD, $KMI
- mopick: @jnors12 $KMI, Finviz shows 1/22. Own this as well, looking awfully stretched here at ath. Yield now below 4%. Holding $EPD, $ET, & $MPLX.
- champ: @mopick $KMI $EPD $ET $MPLX....And $KMI is going to keep climbing because their earnings steam is climbing fast now and after January 20th, going to get even more positive-News for $KMI, so for me this is an Investment position, that is still #Breaki ...
- mopick: #Pipeline Companies, all down, $EPD, $ET, $MPLX, $KMI, anybody see any news? Sector downgrade?
- mopick: $ET, $EPD, $MPLX, $KMI, ho hum, all new highs today. Perfect sector for this market, stocks still not expensive, all sporting significant yields.
- mopick: $EPD, ath, midstream oil companies seem to be a good place to invest given the new administration. That Keystone XL pipeline will now go forward. Reuters reports that the EU is considering replacing LNG from Russia with that of the US. Long this & others; $ET, $MPLX & $KMI. All offer very attractive yields as well!
- champ: @mopick $EPD $ET $MPLX $KMI ...Exactly and that will start on Day-1, however the Markets always look ahead.....as we all know or should know.....and I'm in this sector also. Good Luck!
- champ: @mopick $EPD $ET $MPLX $KMI ...Check-out $EPD, their Form 10-Q that they just filed on 11/8 and see what you think..??
- mopick: $MPLX, new high for this energy midstream play. Own the trirfecta; $ET, $EPD & $MPLX. In a nod to our Champ, added $KMI recently as well. Love those attractive dividends.
- drmike54: @joelsg1 $MPC Instead of $MPC try $MPLX when it pulls back. $2.82/yr dividend. Marathon's pipeline Wouldn't buy it here (at the top of the range). But below $30. a great buy and hold investment in this market environment. An MLP so the tax consequences get a bit confusing/complicated.
- joelsg1: @drmike54 $MPC $MPLX Your last sentence killed it for me, had a ton of tax reporting trouble previously. Though that 9% yield...Thanks.
- Amisure: $TRP $DOC $MPLX $KMI $ENB $VICI $ABR $WES $FLNG--- some high dividend ideas. not recommendations, just ideas for those interested to look into further.

- woodman: @Pokersmith $APA $OXY $PDCE $MTDR $MPLX - Not in the green category today, but $RES is down to around the 8dEMA (currently 9.90) with its drop today (low of 9.99, closed 10.66, but down to 10.10 in the afterhours). The 8dEMA has been a fairly consistent support area on its path up since November, and particularly since December. (I'm still in this.)

- SamWB: Two trades working for me today are $MPLX and $SHLX . Give them a look, maybe they are for you as well.
- drmike54: @gtr89 $AR $SHLX $NLY $ORC $MPLX If you like $SHLX you'll really like $MPLX. The stock pays $2.75 per year and is selling at 24.90
- Ajax4Hire: @drmike54 $AR $SHLX $NLY $ORC $MPLX $MPLX - Marathon Petroleum LP looks nice also, but $MPLX has recovered to pre-pandemic 2020-03March level. @gtr89, wash this type of investment thru 401k to avoid special K-1 IRS filing. I have walked that bataan death march of trying to file income from LP reported on K-1. Never do that again.
- SamWB: @Ajax4Hire $AR $SHLX $NLY $ORO I have also been looking at $SHLX for a good buy entry. Also looking at $BPMP for similar reasons. Did not know about $MPLX so I will add that one to the list!

- mikethompson: @drmike54 $MPLX $MPC #REITS #REIT There used to be a list of Yieldhog stocks on the website, but I don't see then anymore. I'm guessing they went away after Jan2143 passed away???
- teacher5: @teacher5 $MPLX $MPC #REITS #REIT Here are some more. These have quarterly dividends.
- teacher5: @mikethompson $MPLX $MPC #REITS #REIT Here’s a couple of screenshots of some of @Jan’s yieldhogs and the closing prices. These have monthly dividends.
- sgiseller: @drmike54 $MPLX $MPC #REITS #REIT My issue with all these high yield stocks is that they generally lose share price, thus killing a fat dividend, except if you are lucky enough to get the right entry, which for all of these was last march. over the last year $NLY is -10.91%, $MPLX -7.6%, $MPC -24.12%, $DCP -15.58%
- drmike54: @sgiseller $MPLX $MPC $NLY $DCP #REITS #REIT If a stock trades like a bond (which most high yielders do) then entry price is the ONLY thing. You have to buy these 'when there is blood in the streets When they are within 5-10% of their yearly (or multi-year) lows not their yearly highs. Think of them as the anthesis of a momentum stock. For someone who has been trading momentum stocks, its very difficult to change your mindset. But you have to be a bargain hunter when you think about buying high yielders. The other way to buy high yielders is to dollar cost average...buying a little more (and making a larger monthly contribution) when the price is down than when the stock is at it's highs.
- teacher5: @mikethompson $MPLX $MPC #REITS #REIT His posts are still here! In the search bar, type @jan2138 and make sure your timeframe is set to “All Time”. They just showed up for me.
- drmike54: @dancemaui #REITS $MPLX @dancemaui, if you are looking for a high yielding stock or #REIT might I suggest $MPLX. It's Marathon Petroleum ($MPC)'s Pipeline division. It pays $2.75 dividend a year. (11.9% yield at its current price of $23.11). In the midst of falling oil prices last year, this company raised its dividend. The stock is near its yearly high and I certainly wouldn't go 'all in' RHRN. Take a small position and average in over the next few months. If you feel courageous you can even write slightly out of the money monthly calls and puts to increase your yield even more. As I've mentioned before in the Forum, I feel so good about this stock that I put it in my 95 year old Mother's portfolio. And she has been very happy with it.

Yield is 14.1%. I know oils are despised these days but this stock raised its dividend earlier this year and seems to be doing just fine. Put a good chunk of my 95 year old Mother's portfolio in it at ~17 in early July

Having said that, to buy at the top of the range, rather than waiting for a short term pull back, is a suckers bet. As the host of this Forum says over and over again, "It's all about your entry."
- hyss11: Just thought I would get some thoughts on the MLP space. $EPD, $ET, $ENLK, $PAA, $MPLX, $MMP. Are these little flag patterns setting up? Yields are very attractive.
- Lou: @hyss11 $EPD $ET $ENLK $PAA $MPLX $MMP - I've been trading $ET and predecessors ETE and ETP for quite a while and am again very long $ET. I think that $ET has lots of head room and will go appreciably higher. That said, my favorite of the pipeline companies RHRN is $KMI. Nicer chart and NOT an MLP with a good dividend and a plan to increase the dividend at stated intervals.. It is now a corporation and gives you none of the complications of an MLP with K-1 tax reporting and if owned in a tax deferred account such as a Roth or an IRA possible exposure to UBTI (Unrelated Business Taxable Income). I don't follow the other names you mentioned.

- arrow: @champ $MPLX - Feb 2016 was the energy sector low, just about all the MLPs (& other energy names) had those type of moves. John Fox is against the dropdowns, and MPC/MPLX is so far not listening to him. It will be interesting to see what he does with his stake. Good luck. Also, MPLX pays distributions, not dividends. (In the world of K-1s ignorance is not bliss.)
- champ: @arrow $MPLX --- Yes, we all know it's a distribution....Schwab and the others trading houses call it a dividend....I get about 40 of the K-1s every year.

- champ: @issues $MPLX $MPC $MMP #All #NewMove #IMO --- What can I say...I like my research better than his.....but maybe he will like this one better after he see's this ....#NewNews.....and $MPLX does pay a higher div by over a 1% point.... and the biggest and most important reason is.... if you look at the 2 year highs ....it does.... Not.... have the chance to more than #Double like $MPLX has....We...could help him out and send him an E-Mail....could you take care of that for me....I'm off to the Gym. I have Posted on $MMP many times before....and you asked what will I do....? I already added and doubled my position.
- arrow: @champ $MPLX $MPC #All #NewMove #IMO Both MPLX & MPC are undergoing major transformations to unlock value spurred on by an activist investor. It's not about a Board rewarding itself because they didn't do it earlier. The chart of MLP's from the glory days is not a good predictor of where they have "room" to go to, for MPLX and others. Ironically, the higher distributions and the additional dropdowns may not be as helpful for the stock as you think. See http://www.itjustmakessensegary.com/ for the analysis of the co-founder of MarkWest (bought by MPLX) who also is the largest individual holder of MPLX units. There is value to unlock in both MPC & MPLX, likely more in MPC, but they aren't trading/chart stocks.

- geotheo: @champ $MPLX $MPC I'm the other way around. Being long $MPC and with such a big move was thinking of rotating into MPLX.
- champ: @geotheo $MPLX $MPC ---- Really hard to know at this point ....I'm long only $MPLX and I just thought it was time to add because of news today that $MPC would be dropping down...$1.4b....more assets....that news was posted today by $MPC....this news ...
- champ: @Robert1965 $CVI $CVRR--- Yes, I have him on CNBC....and like I posted about ...I knew he had a position in a refiner....I just din't know which one for sure ...so I din't post the name....and I'm holding $CVRR which $CVI has a partnership with ...it's a spin off of $CVI ...like all the others refiners also have....(a down stream energy limited partnership) I have this one $MPLX also ...on refiners I have positions in $AJL $PBF and $DK....I'm going to hold all because of Icon this sector is going to go much higher. Another reason is... the economy is picking up ...which will kick all the refiners demand higher ...helping the stock prices.
- JJT1: @champ $CVI $CVRR $MPLX $AJL $PBF $DK Be aware Icahn has owned this since the 40 + dollar range so he has taken a bath on this one. He did seem to keep mgmt, not like some other buys of his, so he must see something. Maybe he can work his PR magic to get back to BE.
- Bridget: $MPLX breaking out on the weekly chart. Would like to see more volume though. Ex-dividend tomorrow. Would like to see a more confirmed breakout above $35.
- champ: @Robert1965 $MPC - Yes, I've done a lot of research on this stock and I like it ..NP at this point but I do own $MPLX for the div ..which is an MLP off of $MPC.
