Check the indexes ($SPY $DIA $MDY $IWM $QQQ $COMPQ) and you'll see that they are nearly testing the floor typically set by the 50-day moving average. Last week I felt like a broken record playing a sad song because I kept saying, "there's real ... - traderbren: $IWM - broke below the 8ema...and if it breaks below 232.75 it could start filling the gap on the downside.

- woodman: I've raised cash today to jump on any pullback, even if only a short term pullback, after this run. Some stuff looks tired and in need of a pullback, or at least a rest. Primarily, I sold stuff that I'm not all that happy with anyway, so it's not a big deal. But I'm also keeping an eye on the runners that may start to get low on gas. We are pretty high above the 50dSMA in $SPY $QQQ $IWM for instance, and we're seeing red bars. So, I'm just taking it a little cautiously here and restocking the cash reserves to be ready to deploy. Of course, data this week could move the market even higher ... or provide a pullback to re-engage. As I've said in the past, my crystal ball sucks.

I don’t really get it as last hurricane and this new one is going to wipe out a lot of businesses that will never come back . I see some hurt on small banks . Insurance in most cases not bought or won’t cover flood . Ave Joe can’t recover from the wipe out . $ KRE you would think has to suffer . 2008 financial disaster where banks wiped out most small to mid sized real estate investors only to get $$ from govt that they wouldn’t let banks loan . Builders and all the subs were screwed as well . Now , if Govt took care of our TRUE TAXPAYING CITIZENS like the do illegal aliens and Ukraine , I might think differently.

- phgruver: @traderbren $IWM What I see is a stock sitting right on the 20dma, or the middle Bollinger Band. That's indecision. It could go either way, so wait for it to pick a direction. Frankly, I agree with @Dan that the market is likely to just go sideways until the election. Once we know who wins, we'll know how to invest going forward. For now, though, just try to keep from loosing you dough....

- phgruver: The major indexes, $SPY, $IWM, $QQQ are all tracking lower, in "below average" volume, ahead of the FOMC meeting. It looks like institutions are hedging the downside by raising a bit of cash. That's still no indication as to which way the market will react, though.

- phgruver: Good morning, y'all. It's dark, dreary and wet, here in central NC, a perfect Friday the 13th. :-) The week, so far, has been a decent recovery. The $SPY is in a volatility squeeze near the 50DMA, and looks poised to move higher. $IJR, $IWM, $QQQ, $XLK all found support near the 200DMA and are now pushing higher as well. The path of least resistance looks to be higher....
