- debeers: DSX@Pokersmith- here's a reality check: The shippers have all done well but before you get blown away with the freakin' 5% increase in the dividend, how about we look at a sampling of the shippers divvies??: $SBLK has a 23.81% divvie $$DSX increasing the divvie 5 whole percent means the divvie is now 18.31% up from 13.31% $GNK has a 12.41% divvie $GOGL-for whatever reason at various times the forum fave is 12.74% $DAC has a divvie of 3.62% Which would leave who? Oh, that would be $ZIM who pays an annual dividend of 32.05% Which one do i have? Oh, that would be $ZIM. i cann only suggest which shipper y'all should be in of course but if you are the Roach Motel of Money where the money goes in and doesn't come out.......well then $ZIM is the one we want.just imo of course

Bulk shippers move coal, corn, wheat, soybeans, timber, etc. Things that are in the news and the financial letters every day. The moral of the story is that if you make a mistake look around you might see a limping gazelle going by.

- woodman: I posted yesterday on #Shippers which continue to do well and, additionally, have been moving higher on earnings - at least from what I've seen among those reporting. Yesterday's strong action off of earnings was seen in $GRIN up 20%, $SBLK up 10%. Others not yet reporting still doing decently. $GNK had a nice day yesterday, coming out of a flag (earnings 2/24 bmo). $PANL (which I have) is just moving above some resistance out of flag type consolidation. $SB working on a flag. $GSL pullback to 20d is worth watching for a bounce. I also still have $CMRE, which has been a slow but reliable climber of late, and a little $ZIM. Fishing in this sector may reveal others that catch your fancy.

I do have some $ZIM, but those that reported earnings are doing especially well today: $GRIN up 20%, $SBLK up 10% (from as high as 14% today). Others not reporting still doing decently. $GNK strong today (earnings 2/24 bmo). I still have $CMRE, which has been slower to climb. $SB moving up out of little flag. $PANL out of a little consolidation. $GSL pullback to 20d, still deciding what it wants to do. So there are some options in the group.

- woodman: #Shipping has been moving in the right direction. Looking at their weekly charts, many appear still to have have plenty of room to move higher. I looked at their weekly charts to decide whether I like the 30,000 foot view and direction and whether it looks like there is more in the tank with space to move higher. Of those, I looked at the daily charts to see whether now is a good time to enter or if I need to wait. Using the weekly and daily in this fashion is something @Dan has discussed many times. When I took a look, I liked the weekly charts for $GNRT $GOGL $SBLK $SB $SALT $ASC and $GNK. But I don't want to buy any of them right now. They all seem extended on the daily. I don't have a position in any currently, but will watch for an entry in one.
