  • debeers: @Henry $CMCSA -totally agree, H. The stunt that they pulled was despicable and the fact that the Leage went along with it-------------------
  • woodman: @debeers $CMCSA - I've had it with the NFL. Billionaire owners wringing out more dollars via pay-for streaming. Now you have to subscribe to every service to watch football. Amazon Prime, Peacock (which I have zero interest in), and whatever comes next. It's not even enjoyable to watch on streaming because it is difficult to switch away and back. Meanwhile, the NFL as a product sucks with the league driving parity (making it a parody - of itself) among teams so everyone has a "ticket and a dream" for the Superbowl, and the shittiest officiating of any sport. Every game is decided by a missed blatant/obvious penalty or a phamtom penalty that shouldn't have been called. It's really bad when I can watch in real time, not instant replay, and see numerous uncalled pentalties throughout the game. Total BS.
  • Henry: @wijimmy $CMCSA They will be doing the same thing with some Nascar races this year, no pay per view, they want people to subscribe. So much for unbundling saving people money for things they don't want. My father was a football nut and I'm sure he would have paid to subscribe if he were still alive. I will not.
  • Docoof: Fwiw, of the top 15 of the $QQQ’s holdings, $CMCSA is at another new 1-yr high today and today’s 2nd best performer, behind $NVDA.
  • Docoof: Fwiw, of the top 15 of the $QQQ’s holdings, $CMCSA is leading and at a new 1-yr high today.
  • debeers: $BA/$CMCSA/$META/$NVDA/$RCL/$SCHW. i was a bit of a cluck cluck (chicken) but once again July came in like a lion but went out like a $LRCX-amazing report.
  • debeers: @debeers $BA $CMCSA $META $NVDA $RCL $SCHW $LRCX -Lam research! wow
  • traderbren: @debeers $BA $CMCSA $META $NVDA $RCL $SCHW $LRCX - well said!
  • Margi1983: $VZ. This thing has bounced off it's 10 year low of 34. and has a 7 % yield. Good for LT account?? I know that FIOS is nothing special . $CMCSA also interesting with a 3.4% divi
  • champ: @Margi1983 $VZ $CMCSA ....$T...has been climbing and had another nice Day, nice upgrade by Raymond James, with a #Strong-Buy and a price tgt at $25...
  • Docoof: $CMCSA fails to add broadband subscribers for first time ever as economy slows Comcast reported second-quarter revenue and earnings that topped analyst estimates, but Comcast didn’t add broadband customers in a quarter for the first time ever. https://www.cnbc.com/amp/2022/07/28/comcast-earnings-2q-2022.html
  • joelsg1: $VIAC $CMCSA Achieve full regulatory approval for their streaming j/v to 90M homes in Europe. Long $VIAC via LEAPs.
  • Momentariness: $CMCSA DT shorting
  • Wolf: $CMCSA currently having a nation wide outage. Having to use hotspot.
  • DavidM: @Wolf $CMCSA Has not yet hit south Florida
  • coldevinc: @Wolf $CMCSA Here is south jersey it seems to have sorted itself out.
  • jonwest88: @joelsg1 $VIAC $VIACP Not sure why signing the normal Cable co deals would stop some one from buying them. $ROKU needs content. HAH. I doubt the $CMCSA owner of NBC could do the deal, one company owning two majors, CBS and NBC. Nor would $DIS do the deal, as owner of ABC, but maybe I am missing something and we could get to one major TV network? Gobble Gobble them all up. ...Lest I forget $FOX, also up around 6% today
  • Lou: @jonwest88 $VIAC $VIACP $ROKU $CMCSA $DIS $FOX - Own $VIAC but I highly doubt that the company will be sold. The play is in the streaming businesses, which may and are likely to be combined with others but the mother ship, $VIAC is most likely to remain independent. At least that's how I see Kathy Redstone's druthers.
  • jonwest88: @Lou $VIAC $VIACP $ROKU $CMCSA $DIS $FOX She gets a wheel barrow full of dividends for sure
  • joelsg1: @jonwest88 $VIAC $VIACP $ROKU $CMCSA $DIS Think the content deal is a signal to market and, upon further reflection, even potential bidders that we're not going cheap. But, if I'm looking for a solar house to buy and everything being equal one has a leased system and the other owns, I'm going for the owned solar house.
  • joelsg1: @jonwest88 $VIAC $VIACP $ROKU $CMCSA $DIS Upon further reflection think longer term deal is a signal to market that we could go it alone and if we decide to sell we won't be cheap.
  • Ajax4Hire: $AVGO is to $CHTR, $CMCSA as $QCOM is to $AAPL, $TMUS, $VZ, $T $AVGO provides silicon(ICs) for CableModems, CableBoxes $QCOM provides silicon(ICs) for cellphones. I use to create awesome hardware design using $AVGO(Broadcom). Sometimes I miss those halcyon days.
  • Bridget: $CMCSA is very close to a possible breakout on the weekly chart
  • cmaxwel1: @Mitchell $CMCSA $GPC $LEN $SAM $SBUX ($LEN, I added Yesterday, looking positive )
  • Mitchell: 7/1/2021 Notes $CMCSA - closed just below the top of the wedge pattern that has been forming since April. A close above $58 confirms a breakout. Earnings are due out on 7/29. $GPC - nice move back above the 20-day SMA, closing above the recent flag pattern (bullish MACD crossover as well). Earnings are due out on 7/22. $LEN - the third time was the charm as the stock was able to close above the $100 level today, setting up for a short-term run to $105-$110 $SAM - heavy selling pressure after the failed attempt at the 200-day SMA, setting up for a potential retest of the January lows. Earnings are due out on 7/22. $SBUX - there was a successful test of the 100-day SMA last month and now the stock is ready for a return to new highs if it can close above the $114 level. Earnings are due out on 7/27.
  • debeers: @jonwest88 $CMCSA $roku $viac $viacp -Everyone knows that Comcast has to do something. That cat jumped out of the bag 6 months ago. i wonder, at this point in time, what is real and what is planted to amp up the sales of , for instance, a $ROKU

  • Forexpro: @joelsg1 $VIAC Hi, Joelsg1, Maybe - maybe - this WSJ.com piece from 2:42 PM EDT is contributing, although it's an article on Brian Roberts of $CMCSA: "Mr. Roberts, 61 years old and known as an aggressive deal maker in his two decades atop Comcast, has told people close to him that he doesn’t feel a need to seek a merger. But he is scoping out options, and ideas on the table include a potential tie-up with ViacomCBS Inc. or an acquisition of Roku Inc., one of the people said." All the best!

  • salehogayel: Why did the $CMCSA drop? is it because of the dividends?
  • shoredriver: @salehogayel $CMCSA ....a 25 cent "drop".....sheesh.......
  • tartan: @salehogayel $CMCSA I have found when the 5 ema, the 8 ema, the 13 ema and the 21 ema are all heading down a stock does not need a reason to go down They have all been heading down for a week now
  • salehogayel: @shoredriver $CMCSA Lol I meant it was ready to go up. but went the other way. thought there was a reason
  • salehogayel: @tartan $CMCSA Great info thanks
  • Ajax4Hire: @salehogayel $CMCSA Ex-Dividend will usually cause a small drop but only by the dividend amount(of $0.25); so No, Dividend doesn't answer the question of why drop. $CHTR-Charter Communication is $CMCSA-Comcast primary competitor in the CableTV/CableModem business (Content delivery, ISP-Internet Service Provider). $CMCSA is also a content provider, owning NBC,MSNBC and Universal(including Universal parks in Orlando). $CMCSA is one of the least liked(hated) companies for decades. So much so, $CMCSA trying to slide out from ire by renaming to Xfinity. No way I could invest in $CMCSA.

  • Henry: @EricF I used to have $VZ Fios and it was great. Then I moved. There is a $CMCSA cable box directly across the street, and they insist I "live outside their area" They are happy to run a new cable 100 yards for $2,000 in about 3 months. I get my internet from an antenna on the local mountain and a small dish. Had Elon's Starlink been available when I moved, I might have gone with that. All the other satellite servers charge you for how much you download and aren't nearly as fast as the #Technoking

  • Henry: @dkoran $DIS Sounds political to me 81 million people, 56 senators, 232 congressmen and all but one major network don't care. The weekly charts of $NYT $CMCSA $FB $TWTR $GOOGL don't seem to be hurt by their political opinions. You are on the wrong side of the trade.
  • Ajax4Hire: @cmaxwel1 $FB When predicting human behavior, remember: a majority will choose security over adventure; it is easier to do nothing; "Parlor" is like the American pilgrims leaving behind the largest(at the time) power in the world(England). It took 250years before change/revolution out-weighted comfort and security. There will always be an underdog against the alpha. But now there are loud calls for security, "sensible" speech regulation, content moderation. $FB-Facebook, $GOOGL-Google, $AAPL-Apple, $AMZN-Amazon, $CMCSA-Comcast will all petition governments to protect their platforms by insisting on oversite. Remember, the banks did this 12years ago. "Request" more bureaucracy for safety/security. That extra burden is always heavier on the underdog, contender, pioneer, the small and regional banks. That is why you don't have a local bank anymore.
  • Babutters: @Ajax4Hire $FB $GOOGL $AAPL $AMZN $CMCSA not related to trading, but I haven’t had $FB in over a year. Gives me less stress. Separately, The Social Dilemma is an interesting docu on $NFLX.
  • Ajax4Hire: @Babutters $FB $GOOGL $AAPL $AMZN $CMCSA $NFLX Yes, related to trading. Goal is to predict what will be trending. Weather vane shows the wind direction. Environment in which these are traded is important. Today, much talk of "free money" stimulus from Federal Reserve and US Government. Additionally, if larger corporations can entrench their monopoly using bureaucracy, ruling, and law then small competitors will languish, big will get bigger. Trade accordingly. For example; California(a US bellweather state) mandating "all electric" vehicles; Good for EV makers. No Natural Gas home appliances; good for Electric appliance manufacture. Solar Power on new homes, good for $TAN. Look to the future, for that is where you will spend the rest of your life.
  • Babutters: @Ajax4Hire $FB $GOOGL $AAPL $AMZN $CMCSA $NFLX $TAN I meant my comment about being off $FB wasn’t related to trading (a couple people aren’t much to predict IMO). Agree the goal is to find future trends. We are all trying to conduct our own small version of predictive analysis to back up trends using descriptive analysis. One day when I retire I’ll use Tableau (analytics tool) to build dashboards for these trends. Until then, I use simple trading rules.
  • Ajax4Hire: @Babutters $FB $GOOGL $AAPL $AMZN $CMCSA $NFLX $TAN tableau.com, ahhh, Big Data analyzer. I remember the excitement of "vector cosine>0.95" meaning convergence of a possible dimension. Take care, as I mention to my dad, given enough data, I can prove anything.
  • debeers: $CMCSA-Citi raises to 54. i know what you are gonna say because i did--why do you waste our time--except that they forged a new partnership.LONG
  • debeers: $AXP-Posted on this one before the market open today. The reason? The travel rewards are outsized on this card. IMO-Buy it.LONG $CMCSA-Getting ready for a spinoff largely because of BOD pressure.LONG
  • Ajax4Hire: @Brett $TSLA Additionally for long-term consideration; If $TSLA next Earnings(Wed,Oct21 after close) is moderately good and positive there will be renewed call for adding to the S&P500($SPX,$SPY). Ignoring the $TSLA CEO, looking at the company; $TSLA is a Solar Power, battery business that almost single-handedly upset the century old automobile business. Understand, hystorically, the 1990s,2000s leaders are: $CSCO,$INTC,Sun Workstations,$TXN,Broadcom,Cell phone makers,$GE. Companies that produce tangible, physical, material goods capitalizing on new technology, internet. Then(2010-2020), the leaders are $FB,$GOOGL,$NFLX,$VZ,$TMUS,$CMCSA,$DIS; companies that sold experience, interaction, connection. The coming decades(2020-2040) will swing back to tangible, material, physical($TSLA) AND the newly created "gig" economy; $UBER,$LYFT are good examples. What does your 2030 self tell the 2020 you. Make sure to listen closely because voices from the future are faint.

  • grcjr: $INTC $AAPL $MU $CMCSA - $INTC was downgraded by Goldman from Neutral to Sell with price target Cut to $54 from $65. Seems the market does not care. Stock trading down 0.02%, trading at $59.11. News pundits claimed a couple reasons. 1> " $AAPL moving to own chips." This should have been baked in for months. 2> "PC sales are off?. Hmmm. Many I know indicate that they have increased corporate purchases of PCs/laptops to support work at home. Also personal purchases to support game playing as new games need more memory and faster CPUs/GPUs. These machines and apps need more network bandwidth. Watch for personal purchases to support remote education . One time boost? Definitely we have seen a boost but as the virus continues I believe that a second/third round of purchases as less capable pre-covid PCs need to be upgraded/replaced.
  • rverkamp: $CMCSA down on earnings. Looking like it could keep moving up
  • traderbren: @Bridget $PTON - FYI - Comcast's ($CMCSA) NBCUniversal has sold 5.2 million Peleton Interactive (PTON) shares for $34.21 each, raising about $178 million for the company, according to a regulatory filing from Peloton.
  • Ajax4Hire: @Henry $ROKU Formed a Cup-with-Handle in 2020-03March(I guess). Just don't sit this cup down cause it will tip over. $ROKU IS the replacement for cablebox from $CMCSA(Comcast), $CHTR(Charter Communications), $DISH(Dish Network), $T(AT&T) $GOOGL Google Chromcast, $AMZN Amazon Fire Stick, $AAPL Apple TV could have dominated this business. But have left it up to $ROKU, an $11B company. $AAPL should buy $ROKU to hide the failed Apple TV shame.
  • Ajax4Hire: @DAN $X $MSFT $EEM None of my children(I have a big family) have "traditional" TV. All stream $NFLX, $DIS, HULU on $ROKU, $AAPL TV, $GOOGL YouTube. or use $VZ, $T, $TMUS, $S thru their phone. None have $DISH, $CMCSA, $CHTR Means they have to actively search for $CBS, NBC on $CMCSA, ABC on $DIS The idea of channel surfing is lost/forgotten/unknown to 35yrs or younger. Time/future is a wave we all ride; choose your position on the wave wisely.

On a measured move basis, it sets up for a run to $175 or on a more conservative basis, the August 2018 high of $170.69. $TER - continues to see buyers step in on pullbacks to the 50-day EMA. An initial stop loss on a long position can be placed under $61. $ULTA - hit a low not seen since April of 2018, but printed a bullish hammer candlestick by the end of the session. • Ajax4Hire: $ROKU - ROKU Inc. Someone(s) is buying 1M shares at the open on the last few days. Explains the open peak. ROKU is a new-tech company providing Multi-Media(TV) to the age 20-40 (and also to me but I'm not in the 20-40 age range). It is what kids use these days instead of Cable/Satelite TV. HULU, PlutoTV, Peacock(NBC, $CMCSA), CBS All-Access($CBS), Netflix($NFLX), Amazon Prime($AMZN), VUDU, Playstation Vue($SNE) and Disney+ all steam on $ROKU. (Like how I started with HULU and ended with DisneyPlus; $DIS owns both, ha!)

  • RobG: @scottrades @Dan $CMCSA Would be interested in member's thoughts on trading this bullish breakout. Basis for going long: Bullish b/out above resistance on a gap and above ave volume. Price action has since consolidated into a tiny bull flag (some call them "nested flags") On the Hourly chart it looks a lot like a squeeze play (is that relevant?) I am not trading it but these setups appear a lot and I struggle to buy them because they look over-extended (I like to buy on deeper pull backs...don't know why, maybe I'm a tight arse) but on strongly trending stock you don't get a better opportunity. Are you insane to buy the next breakout?
  • RobG: @DAN $CMCSA v helpful, many thanks. Boils down to individual style / aggressiveness.
  • scottrades: @RobG $CMCSA That's a nice chart! The strength in this move is shown by the fact the the stock didn't fall back down and is holding (for now) the gap to the upside. If you're not able to watch the stock, you could take a small position with a stop just below the low of the initial pullback. The 2 lines I've put on the chart I like to think of this as your "work-area". If it closes below, the pattern is invalid and you're out for a small loss. If it moves above on good volume it signals continuation and you can start add to that small position. Hope that helps!

Watch to see if it can sustain a move above the 20-day SMA for more confirmation of additional upside. $TSLA - lower high being put in on the retest of the 50-day EMA and 100-day SMA. Look for a pullback to the $210 support level. $TWTR - closed above the $43 level after struggling with the resistance level over the last month
