Another rumor is Fed will not cut rates ( I don’t believe it, I do believe the EBT / snap cutoff is going to be a disaster ) due to no govt data being supplied . - DavidK: @Doug $SPY yes it could be sometime before it pops . Reminds me of 1999 time frame . Internet bubble . I was busy building my businesses and was not really playing the stock market. I recall giving a Merrill Lynch stock broker $100,000 and said don’t lose it. This is my children’s college fund. Kids were about eight or nine. One year later that hundred grand was worth 20,000. Broker put it in the Merrill Lynch focus 20 or 30 fund. Can’t recall the name. Made up of you guessed it Internet stocks. I tried to sue but to no avail. . It’s coming again as Dan Nile’s stated today on tv but he thinks it will be later next year

- phgruver: @bizmodal Yeah, this options expiration day. That's always rough on the market, as the big dogs try to pin the price for maximum profits (and max. pain for speculators.) Too get a real feel for what is likely to happen, you have to look at the open interest on expiring options. Right now, looking at $SPY, I can say the closing price will be between $655 and $660. as these are the levels with the most calls and puts. For $QQQ, the price will probably stay above $595 and below $600. Of course, the market can always surprise us, but, don't bet on it. :-)

- TraderGeekSam: We discussed in yesterday's live OMM training session that if the $VIX hits 27-28, it would be a good long-term buy signal (one standard deviation above the long-term average). It looks like the VIX hit 28.99 in the premarket (albeit an illiquid market), but the high at the open was around 25. Anyone awake at 3 AM ET could have bought the ES futures as a proxy for the SPX. :-) Based on the research, if you hold the $SPX (or $SPY) for 9-12 months after that one standard deviation VIX move, you have an 80%-85% chance of making money. If you see that level again, it's worth putting some long-term money to work. I always do that for my money management clients. By the way, for a VIX at 35, two standard deviations away, the probability of making money goes to 90% for 9-12 months out.

- joelsg1: $SPY No surprise that with Govt. shutdown the BLS-issued Sept. CPI data will not be released 10/15 per usual. But under the radar the BLS on orders from OMB director Russell Vought ( he of Project 2025 fame) has recalled enough furloughed employees to get the CPI out by 10/24 per BLS website, important that it gets done by end of this month to calculate Social Security payments for next year. Wow, something responsible getting done which implies the data will be bullish and will force the Fed to cut rates when they meet the following week 10/28-29 (unless today's newly threatened tariffs again get in the way). Still alot of time, but bodes well for an end of month rally.

- texgecko: $CQQQ China Technology ETF. It is run by Invesco who also runs the $QQQ. My ETF measure asks if the one i'm considering is doing better than $SPY. If not - just buy $SPY. $CQQQ has out performed $SPY by 22% over three months and 13% over one month.

- joelsg1: $SPY I've been a big follower of Larry Williams cycle work over many year to great effect, and though technically retired (pun intended) he is out with a new video heading into his still-active annual forecast coming for 2026.
