- kenb: @woodman $NVDA $GOOGL yes, that announcement is the primary reason for the drop. I own both in long term accounts so it's pretty much break-even for me (one up, one down). My point was that if $META is going that way, other hyper-scalers might follow. $AVGO is also selling customized chips for these hyper-scalers as well. $NVDA is the dominant chip right now, though there is increasing competition from others as well. I think the AI chip play is still in play and bullish on the whole tech sector.

Meta's balance sheet is fortress-like. Operating cash flow hit $91.3 billion in 2024. The company can absorb this spending without debt. Profit margins remain exceptional at 40% company-wide and 43% operating margin. That's not changing.

I can still smell the acrid jet fuel and debris. I was depressed for months following ...and hold onto the memories of many folks that I knew that lost their lives in the towers.
