With home solar plus battery, EVs are viable even in disaster zone, but without that, useless as many public chargers dependent on viable grid which as I stated is turned off during PSPS. Noticed MS' Adam Jonas raised his price target to $430 from 400, bull case $800, and stock bouncing back.
- joelsg1: $TSLA This disaster in LA plays to their strengths in residential solar generation/storage. If the utilities continue to drop power on a wind forecast, need solar. A medium-sized house panels and Powerwall might run around $35k. If 1M homes add, that's $35B initial revenues, and that's just in LA. Tesla installed panels supposed to withstand hurricane-force winds up to 135-150 mph. Stayed Long and looking at $375-425 box.

- joelsg1: $TSLA Concern from Jensen's keynote last night that competition is coming for FSD using $NVDA's new chips. Not anytime soon IMO. Jensen didn't talk TSLA much last night because they use their own chip design. FSD is the only autonomous solution you can buy right now and is moving quickly to full approval, no doubt aided by Tesla Ins. as current law requires assumed liability for wide approval. BofA raised target to $490 but called it "neutral". Looking to add to large pos. around 50d $360 if it can get there.

- joelsg1: @Bert953 $TSLA Suggest you take test trial of the FSD, try it on suburban streets first before braving NYC, guarantee you will be favorably impressed with at least the 13 version (assuming your Y is new enough to have the Hardware 4 cameras). Check with Tesla--they may continue offering the 3 month free trial. The car itself is not luxurious though the new Y ride is much smoother and they are coming out with an updated model this year which I intend to get.

- joelsg1: $TSLA Further thoughts: Tesla missed consensus 500k auto deliveries by about 4430 vehicles, at about $7k profit per vehicle w/o FSD/services that amounts to a $31M hit. However, their big beat on energy storage deployment about 5.2 GWh higher than their last 4Qs at avg. profit of about $100M per GWh is about $520M better. Yes, the energy biz is lumpy, but where I come from $520M beats a $31M hit every time. Also, good for $EOSE which offers a different but competitive energy storage product. So, I think 3 Day Rule applies to $TSLA, whose E now set for 1/29.

And then there's the head-scratcher of immensely unqualified RFK, Jr. to lead healthcare in the U.S., if confirmed. I don't think the pharma/biotech industry has much of a grasp of what that will mean. My biotech positions are $ARDX (bought back mostly between around $4.70 to to $4.90 and a little more at $5.20 - of note, insider (Director) David Mott recently bought $1 million worth of stock at $4.67) and $HUMA (bought back between ~$4.90 and ~$5.05). My ARDX (small-medium position) is larger than my HUMA (small). I also have a little (even smaller position in) $TGTX and $AUPH, and a mere placeholder in a few others just so I don't forget about them. All in all, a relatvely low concentration in biotech.

As posted I have been trimming, but now back to Musk's psychic $420 level so perhaps either front-run selling is done or else these numbers aren't as important now as in the past with narrative change. Wild card is Btc as TSLA holds about 10k Btc. UBS reset delivery expectations at 500-510k (need 514,925 for YoY growth). Think I'm done trimming into event.

- joelsg1: @Motorman $TSLA No doubt, and that helped US sales along with a bunch of promos, but Europe is weak and it appears production was paused at Fremont and TX indicating either retooling for newer models or just weak demand. However, longer term I think FSD rules and corners the market, helping TSLA sales and those who license the tech.

- joelsg1: @Motorman $TSLA The other EV makers with higher COGS benefit more than $TSLA which makes profitable EVs without the credits, so it makes sense to revoke those credits to crush competition, and if DOGE does anything to eliminate the many other unnecessary subsidies our government provides to big oil, big ag and such it would give Musk cover to say he's cutting his own subsidy.

Catalysts begin 1/6 with Jensen's CES keynote and continue through E 2/26 and then their big developer's conference beginning 3/17. Tied with $TSLA for my largest pos.

Still think we crater on delivery numbers 1/2, which for me means riding through next Monday or Tuesday at latest then trimming shares and stock replacement with call spreads. I think the numbers will be close but show no growth from '23 and then the reaction will be key, does unit delivery growth still matter when they're doing so much better than the others with increasing FSD, new models, energy and robots 'on the come'.
