  • joelsg1: @woodman $CRWD $DAL on record today they're suing $CRWD and $MSFT for outage claiming $380M in direct damages. And MSFT confirmed Delta didn't accept offer of assistance realtime, clear failure to mitigate. So that case becomes less of a focus.
  • woodman: @joelsg1 $NVDA $MU $TSM $ASML $AVGO $MRVL $AMZN $MSFT $GOOGL - Yes, on $NVDA. Same thinking has had me in $LLY.

  • joelsg1: @woodman $CRWD $DAL $MSFT They must and probably in or over the amount of their contractual damages caps. Doing otherwise would be corporate malpractice.
  • kenb: @woodman $CRWD $DAL $MSFT yes they do. I read an article somewhere that they do have insurance for things like this, and their insurers have insurance as well. Mentioned Berkshire Hathaway as one of the re-insurers. Insurance does have monetary caps as well, and I don't think the insurance would pay for all of it due to the caps. This is going to be complicated with so many lawyers involved and take years to settle out.
  • woodman: @kenb $CRWD $DAL $MSFT -Yeah, it probably will take some time to iron out. Many players invovled.

  • ZMan2: @Cjauger $MSFT $NVDA U can include $ARM in the mix its up 6.85% this morning.
  • woodman: @ZMan2 $MSFT $NVDA $ARM - the question for me on the charts are what the chip stocks do when they hit overhead major moving averages: $AMD the 200d (repelling thus far after just about hitting it this morning) and $NVDA & $ARM the 50d. Are these rollover spots or just very temporary obstacles soon to be overcome? FOMC decision this afternoon, $META tonight, $AMZN and $AAPL tomorrow, and Friday jobs report could give us the answer to these questions. Expect some volatility.

  • DAN: This miss in $MSFT will likely impact stocks like $NVDA. Depends on what they say in the conference call. Are they cutting back on AI spending? Or are their earnings low because they are spending more than anticipated? $NVDA is trading at $100, which has been my "wish" price that I emailed Cramer a while ago (and that triggered that sad sack because he was "offended" that I deviated from my 52-week target of $200). No falling knives, guys. Never!!!

  • champ: @marklesparkle $MSFT ...I should have said...that I think that Powell, could give the Markets some High-hopes on his Fed-day. FWIW
  • phgruver: @artchie Just look at the $MSFT chart. Today's price action, so far, is inside yesterday's price action. That's indecision. You don't want to be a part of that. We are looking for a higher close on increased volume. That's not what we are seeing....
  • artchie: @phgruver $MSFT got it ,thank you
  • joelsg1: $LUV Interesting that Southwest flights were unaffected by Friday's outage because they have resisted $MSFT efforts to upgrade its systems to the latest version of Windows, they still use 32 year-old Windows 3.1 which is so old and "unsupported" that the $CRWD update wouldn't work on its system.
  • curtis: @joelsg1 $LUV $MSFT $CRWD (I programmed applications in windows 3.1, they are 16 bit applications) Yikes to be their IT group.
  • joelsg1: $CRWD Through 200d at $289 and it's full employment time for lawyers, Day 2 so looking for a bounce but not playing for it. Amazing in this interconnected world that an inexcusable code freakout that was patched within an hour could cause so much disruption to Windows machines, but this has happened before with updates and $MSFT recovered quickly so....Ironically, Schwab was offline Friday and I couldn't dump this one with stops, I'll be talking with them later today about compensation if they want to keep me around.
  • Motorman: @joelsg1 $CRWD $MSFT I am sure they have done updates in the past, but there is no excuse for not having worst case scenario contingency plans. Big black eye.
  • joelsg1: @Motorman $CRWD $MSFT No doubt. Quality control should be paramount, but wasn't.
  • marklesparkle: $CRWD I guess you could say that $CRWD hacked $MSFT without even really trying. Just my thoughts the more I read about it. No one has said this. MHO which flies by the seat of my pants alot
  • Henry: @marklesparkle $CRWD $MSFT Cramer said Azure went down at the same time. I had not seen that mention. Listening to Liz Claman and coming up is the continued CRWD generated problems on Fox Biz
  • marklesparkle: @Henry $CRWD $MSFT Hmmm I'll take a looksee. Could we say $CRWD found a weakness in Windows
  • joelsg1: @marklesparkle $CRWD $MSFT Yes, the full story will be interesting. Apparently the defective code is not easy to identify in the cluster, but ironic that the security update is worse than the usual prevented hack.
  • StockMarketMentor: ...
$MSFT was impacted by CrowdStrike's outage and resulted in a lot of "blue screens of death" for many users. It's down around 2% and trading below the 50-day moving average. We should see some upside on this stock today as well.

  • DavidK: @StockMarketMentor $SPY $QQQ $MDY $IWM $CRWD $MSFT was thinking about these so called cyber stocks/ companies the other day and thought to myself , a really good investment would be a company that has a product that really works 100% of the time . Kind of like sunscreen . Some are spf 15, 30, 50 and up but none really totally protect you from harm .
  • billyzeke: @Henry $CRWD #59 I took the $MSFT route since I own it from much lower. I had trimmed back quite a bit at 450 a few days ago.
  • Henry: $CRWD $MSFT Nobody daytrading should expect this stock to fill the gap today. Volume is 2.5x average vol so far. I'm sticking with it for the longer term CNBC reports that GS says it shouldn't cause a shift to other cyber security firms. I don't think $MSFT should have been hit on the news. I'm already full up on Mr Softee.
  • champ: @cgendro1 $Schwab...Yes ...thats how it works, at your click, on your Price-entry...because that click is logged in......and Schwab platforms runs off of $MSFT....and it will take awhile for them to get back-up to normal.... ....my Edge is still down also....and I'm currently working on Fidelities ...Active-Pro platform......however IMO, the Edge is 100% better....... ....and they are taking the Edge off in August, so I won't be able to work as Fast.....and my profits will probably drop...because my Entries will be a little late, I just can't see everything on the Pro. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  • cgendro1: @champ $Schwab $MSFT- learning TOS. I try to keep it simple and TOS can be overwhelming. Like many, I've been on EDGE for yrs and this ol' dog ain't happy!
  • champ: @cgendro1 $Schwab $MSFT ...I just got a confirmation on a few of my Trades, from this morning on Schwab....
  • Mikev200: $MSFT ... watching for the bounce. Not buying until clear support/ reversal, maybe next week.
  • Mikev200: $MSFT looks to be holding BUT, I'm not buying rhrn.....looks like $AMZN chart and look where that is today. :(
  • Mikev200: $MSFT NOT holding after all.
  • cgendro1: @Mikev200 $MSFT I tend to use the MACD as a secondary indicator. It's negative. There was a member here @brobert who used crosses of 5/13 moving avgs. I find it also works nicely. I was in MSFT calls and made good money. It will set up again and I will get back in when I see that up day on volume
  • Mikev200: @cgendro1 $MSFT Yes I remember him, posted like a machine gun :) thx for the post.

  • StockMarketMentor: I'm going to wait just a bit to open $PLTR and $MSFT at trade ideas. By the way they are trading, I suspect that we could get a better entry by waiting. $PLTR is certainly looking strong this morning, but I'm considering the probability of it moving higher from here rather than either pausing or pulling back from here. Seems to me like the potential downside outweighs the potential upside right now. Of course, I could be wrong about this. It's your money; it's your trade. *-) or $-). --Dan

  • champ: $BBY...LOD was at $86.40 and I did get back-in for another trade.....because $MSFT launched their new #AI-Laptop-Computer this morning at $BBY, which will be their biggest product launch of the year....plus $BBY has an exclusive sales rights for 40% of these new Laptops...and they trained 30,000 of their employees on this new Laptop, so they will be able too demo these new Laptops. ~~~Plus #Ulike will also launch their Medical Grade Devices nation-wide at Best-Buy, via a Strategic Partnership agreement with #Ulike. $BBY......Store sales are expected to climb, along with their earnings...because of this #new-store-traffic...and these New deals are a huge plus for Best-Buy....... ....and as their new sales numbers climb, so will their stock price.... ~~~ So for me, this is a Hold and Wait to be Rewarded position because new earning streams will always raise a companies stock price. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

  • DAN: @bigbartabs $NVDA $XLK $MSFT $AAPL Zzzzactly. Because I am definitely not back at full speed. Not by any stretch of the imagination. At 66, I just don't recover from these major overhauls like I used to. So I've got to be taking care of myself. There were many years that I was the only contributor to SMM and OMM (pre-Bridget). And I can assure you that the workload was crushing and I made a lot of personal sacrifices that I would never ask anyone else to make. We are in a different world these days. We now have 4 contributors (Scott, @TraderGeekSam (Sam), @whitepath (Andy), and me. There's no reason for anyone to be overworked. Focus on quality rather than quantify. At least that's my approach.
