- DavidK: $AA- been buying down here . Just bought more . Earnings out of the way. Any good tariff news with Canada this jumps biggly . Alcoa shut down smelters in USA and built them in Canada. So far Alcoa won’t budge on restarting or even committing. An old USA company . Let’s see what Trump does with them . $CENX is the play but earnings due soon .
- DavidK: $AA- reported good earnings . Commented they aren’t going to restart closed down smelters in USA . I guess they calculated paying a tariff coming out of Canada is more cost effective and Trump will eventually give them some breaks of some sort . This is the perfect example of selling out USA . Alcoa has ruined some old manufacturing towns . Greedy CEO’s whose job is to maximize profits should have been lobbying Congress hard about power costs / breaks etc . Is Canadian labor that much cheaper ? $CENX. appears to be the better play in aluminum if you think aluminum is a good investment at these beaten up levels .
- DavidK: $AA- not sure why this has been going up . Tariffs not good for these traitors . They shut down 2 smelters completely in 2020 in USA . Shipping lots in from Canada. Trump has said no waivers as Alcoa has Been politicking for it . $CENX has been going up as most of their production is in USA . Might buy a few puts on the traitor

- DavidK: $CENX - well my thesis played out . Mostly domestic production. Up she goes !! Wish had more than just 1000 shares . Have some $CLF also but sold it down some last week . $GWAV- don’t sleep on this as well . I increases my position to 15000 shares last week . Last month or so it went from .33 to around .70 for a double . Company sold some shares to raise 4 million at.53. She is going higher .

I unloaded all my $CENX and $CLF on the spike up this am . Short $AA with puts now . $CLF is a triple from here as Jim Levinthall ( sp) on Halftime suggest . I will be back in this at some point . $SPY is going down soon . Just scalped 25% on some puts I bought this am . Probably play it to the down side late this afternoon. $MCD puts I bought this am on the spike up was too easy . Holding for now up 26 %

- DavidK: @bigbartabs $CENX Alcoa has 40 % of their production in Canada . Century in the USA except a few plants in Iceland and Netherlands . China tries to fool/ bypass import rules by shipping to Mexico and stockpiling then flooding via Mexico . Trump tariffs will now increase those cost .. Mexico is a haven for crooks to operate and always has been .

- DavidK: @bigbartabs $CENX yea Alcoa last week was talking about diverting some production to other countries that would have lower tariffs . I use to work for Alcoa but have not stayed on top of those moves to Canada but do know they shut down a lot of USA plants over the last 20 years . Shame . But it’s the root cause of all the chaos in the USA . Manufacturing plants shuttered , sent overseas, small towns decimated, unemployment sky rockets , crime and drug use increase as a by product . Trump is laying the foundation hopefully for future leaders to rectify this bullshit

Just a bounce trade . $CENX should benefit if Trump does put a 25% tariff on Canadian imports . 40% of $ AA production comes in from Canada I believe . I should have bought some $CENX last night as well .

Will be interesting to hear CEO comments and outlook on their business . $NUE gave a downbeat outlook as well as falling steel prices . $CLF is vertically integrated so helps on input cost to some degree. Big supplier to auto manufacturers. $CENX earnings coming in few days in the aluminum space . ( my old background early in my career ) $AA had good earnings for them as they usually know how to screw things up .

- champ: $CENX and $AA are both moving because the U.S. is Tripling Chinese Aluminum Tariffs.......on $CENX...they have been building a base for around 6-weeks, plus they beat on earnings on 5/6, plus they had OK guidance. ....On $AA, they reported a small miss on 4/17, with flat guidance.....and they are working on an acquisition of Alumina Limited...$AWCMY. These are both new swings from yesterday, so far they are working...and the price of Aluminum is up again this morning. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Looking for a reason these are up other than maybe Investors thinking maybe finally govt wakes up and protects them from unfair trade practices . Don’t have the figures on hand but numerous smelters have been closed over the years . Crooked politicians and greedy CEOs selling out USA manufacturing base over the past 30 or so years .many thriving small towns as a result suffered huge unemployment, crime increase along with drug use . The unraveling / demise of the family unit when mom and dad don’t have a job at the local plant . There is your ROOT cause of the swirling down the 💩 er.

- champ: @DavidK $AA $JPM $CENX #Alcoa.....#Thanks for that Alert post....and $AA reported a miss on 4/19, however $JPM upgrade was about the Future Aluminum needs.....and another miss could drop $AA.....but a Flat report or a surprise beat might move $AA........ .....however the Key will be all about #Guidance, about the future, can't do anything about the Past...... ..... and that New Russia tariff on Aluminum, back in February could also help-out in the future, could also help guidance. However the bottom line is, I think you are right, that $CENX could miss and their numbers might matter. However I'm already in $AA.... but I might take 1/2 off, there is 80 minutes left and I will see how it plays out...before I make any adjustments....but a $CENX miss, might not matter, if its small, like $AA's miss was. I have both stocks parked next to each other.

- DAN: Consider reducing or closing $CENX position if you have it. Last week the stop was hit on $CENX. Barely hit....before it reversed and ran higher. The trade was a good trade...but not as good as it would be if you are still holding it. (Often we'll see a stop hit and then the stock quickly reverse. That's called a "shakeout." Sometimes you buy it back...and sometimes you just stand aside. But if you're still in $CENX, you have a lot of profit in the position. Consider reducing this position if you are still long. You might also just close it out. If you are holding some, make sure your stops are adjusted to protect your downside. --Dan

- DAN: Most of the stocks that are opened as active trade ideas are doing pretty well, and it's time to raise the stops to reduce risk and lock in profits. I'm sending them out in separate emails/posts so nothing is missed. $CENX -- Entry at 16.30, Old stop at 15.90. Current price is 21.93, so the trade is up by nearly 35%. Earnings are due on Thursday. I'd suggest taking some profits on this one so you can hold some through earnings. When you are up this much, it's important to respect the risk of holding, and to appreciate such a good return in just 11 trading days. But a look at the weekly chart shows a LOT of potential for bigger gains NEW PARTIAL STOP at 19.95. This locks in an 18% gain and gives you some staying power. --Dan
