  • Monty63: $TXN - looking like a breakout
  • Wolf: $TXN #Government money Getting a 1.6B dollar funding from U.S. Commerce Department to support the construction of three new domestic facilities. Also, $6 billion to $8 billion in investment tax credit from the US Treasury Department, and another $10 million in funding for workforce development. https://finance.yahoo.com/news/texas-instruments-receive-1-6-091622768.html
  • wijimmy: @Wolf $TXN #Government .. I could sure use some FREE FUNDING... or Tax credits .. I bet Nancy Pelosi bought shares back on AUG 1st at $180 then approved the Bill and all the Funding.....
  • vitoB: with people dumping $INTC, the domestic fab production trade should still be on, it takes them a couple years, so of course there's $MU $TXN and spec is $WOLF, none of them would be for logic, also $AMD used to be in development with $GFS before the Saudi's backed the ny fab expansion, I could see a future development where $AMD decides (or gets forced to by market) to combine forces with $INTC and help them run wafers...totally spitballin, but in any case these names are coming back in and looking where to buy is my focus
  • joelsg1: $TXN Beat and raise E, up implied move about $8.
  • champ: $GOOG beat and $TSLA missed, however $TXN also beat...and it looks like with all the earnings that were reported today, had many more beats than misses, however don't really know how these reports will effect the Markets tomorrow morning....... Tomorrow there will be around another 110 earnings reports.
  • bigbartabs: @champ $GOOG $TSLA $TXN ... When I lived in Garland Texas back in 1979 -1982, Texas Instruments was right down the road from where we lived. Back then, TI was a rockstar company... always on the leading edge. Always good to see a long time champion still thriving, after all the years in the US of A.
  • joelsg1: $TXN Whoops, E 7/23 but bo nonetheless, Susquehanna to $250, Long.
  • joelsg1: $TXN Broke out from a 4-year base $140-180 and now teasing another cup bo above $206. Lt legacy holding for me paying a 2.5% divi which I augment by selling upside covered calls. Unloved as not AI but they do manufacture analog and embedded processing chips from their own fabs. E 7/23.
  • cgendro1: $TXN- starting to push out of Vol Squeeze. Of course there is a big round # to get through. Current price $199.38. Long
  • cgendro1: $TXN- nice squeeze- np yet
  • dgrobo: Good morning all. Just noticed $TXN Just a picture perfect slow and steady rise from 175 to about 200. any play for this one that was missed?
  • joelsg1: @dgrobo $TXN Legacy holding for me, up today on Elliott Management taking $2.5B stake. $TXN management notoriously prickly, in for a fight and stock goes higher.
  • joelsg1: $TXN Up 20% since E and pushing ATH. Legacy long and rolled short covered calls up and out.
  • Boogie: Two stocks I noticed today. $BAND - looking for it to hold low from yesterday. Had earnings this week. $TXN - break out the chips.
  • joelsg1: $TXN Slight beat and raise, up more than implied move ah.
  • phgruver: @billyzeke $SMH $NVDA is over 20% of $SMH, so keep that in mind. Chips, as a whole, seem to be in consolidation. Some chips, such as $AVGO, $TSM and $TXN are holding up pretty well. Others are doing a bit worse. $AMD has pulled back 27% from it's high, as has $INTC. That's correction territory! If the economy doesn't tank, though, I think semi's, and technology as a whole, are going to do OK. In fact, I would expect technology to lead any new surge higher, I just don't know when that will be.
  • billyzeke: @phgruver $SMH $NVDA $AVGO $TSM $TXN $AMD $INTC Yep, NVDA was the one I really had my eye on and it was falling off a cliff. The SMH is still okay and in it's sideways trend but I was beginning to get worried there when it looked like it was going break below that 219 level . Semis usually seem to lead the market both up and down so I keep a pretty close watch on them.
  • traderbren: $TXN - will likely close the 1st downside gap at 167.38 tomorrow
  • champ: $TXN...at $176....#Texas-Instruments is on a #Pre-earnings move, off of an upgrade to $190...and they will report tomorrow, 1/23/after the close. ...Watch for Entry......
  • champ: @bigbartabs $TNX....Yes...sorry...$TXN....
  • champ: $TXN...LOD was at $174, I had Entry at $174.57...Watch for Entry....see previous post......they are a Semiconductors Manufacture........
  • champ: Have to expect zig-zags...some took profits off and that is opening-up some New entries..... ....have to Watch your stock Targets for entries...... because everything is zigzagging...and thats all part of how the Markets work....... ....could also trade around your #Core positions..... $TXN...on this stock it looks like LOD was at $173.87...... $INTC.....LOD was at $47.64....... $RMBS...LOD was at $72.00.... $OLLI at $73.50...then on this Retailer..LOD was at $72.42.....
  • champ: $TXN reports after the close tomorrow and $INTC reports Thursday after the close....... the point is.......#be-aware, that both of these stocks For-sure...will move other chip stocks in this sector.
  • CdrJake: @champ $TXN $INTC $RMBS $OLLI #Core I took my first position on $RMBS at 72.00 today., didnt notice it was low of the day.
  • billyzeke: @DavidK $AMZN $META $KWEB $XBI $TXN was the other one.

  • joelsg1: $TXN Another one reporting tonight. LT holder from way below, pattern is sell the E, buy the dividend. Resistance today at established level, so sold upside calls covered by shares.
  • joelsg1: $TXN Taking advantage of nice upside move by selling upside covered calls into E 7/25.
  • joelsg1: $GOOGL Out of those Friday $106 calls, net break-even with paired short covered $TXN calls, both posted. Tough market.
  • joelsg1: @kenb $AEHR Underperforming $SMH to downside, which is to be expected with a high momo stock. But, $TXN E tonight which many regard as a 'tell' for auto chip-related stocks.
  • joelsg1: $TXN Sold next week's upside $177.50 covered calls into E tonight and expected ex-divi before expiry.

  • jgonz: $SMH $LRCX $AMAT $ASML $KLAC $TXN $NVDA $TER. Just an observation: Tech is not getting much love in this market, but interesting to see what looks like possible institutional buying (using a simple test: more green days with above avg volume than red days) since mid October in the SMH and some chips stocks. NP yet except partial in NVDA.
  • scottrades: A lot of the $SMH Stocks I mentioned this morning in my note have pushed off the MAs. I think you want to make sure you have stops in place now. Do not want to see these make lower lows. $NVDA $AMD $TXN $QCOM $LSCC and $ON are all working right now and you should be in good shape if you took one of these ideas.

  • joelsg1: $TXN Sold otm covered calls after E pop, following long time strategy, sell or write covered calls E, but buy or close those calls on ex-divi day coming up fast this Q 7/29.
  • debeers: @joelsg1 $TXN -yup
  • debeers: @scottrades $TWTR -@Scottrades-Scotty i am trying to decide betweeen $NVDA and $TXN and i only want 1 in the class. If you had to choose wheich since if we are closer to the end of the tighhtening than the beginning.......which chart looks best? Thanks, Scotty
  • scottrades: @debeers $NVDA is a "better buy" because you're closer to the moving averages. Clear support on the 21 EMA. The volume is higher on $TXN but it's going to hit it's head against the 200 Day MA soon.

  • joelsg1: $TXN As longtime shareholder from way below, posted many times sell just before E, buy the next dividend ex. E was fine, but the guidance kitchen sink miserable based on China shutdowns. Nice bounce off $160 this am for daytrade now over but doubt it holds. My short covered calls will expire worthless Friday, so wait for the 2.7% ex-divi date to add, then sell upside calls with any momo up. At least that's my plan.
  • bRobert: @joelsg1 $TXN I son't think it is done L owerr target potential after failed bounce and lowerr low $150/$130+ 200w potential
  • joelsg1: @bRobert $TXN Agree and $150 seems right, but look at that E/divi time tested drop. Clockwork.
  • joelsg1: $TXN Sold 4/29 covered $195 calls, seasonal trade sell before E 4/26, buy after ex-divi few weeks later, create a 4%+ quarterly income.

  • joelsg1: $TXN Bought back Friday's 182.50 covered calls for small profit. Ex-div Friday. Long stock.
  • joelsg1: $TXN $MSFT Held through E with big cushion in both, and both up ah. Can’t rely too much on ah, but lesson is market rewarding companies that exceed analyst estimates on both print and guidance. $MSFT in particular reversed strongly after call guidance that revs and margins would exceed estimates. Bodes well for $TSLA tomorrow.
  • Docoof: @joelsg1 $TXN $MSFT $TSLA Elon on Twitter, about an hour ago: “Been driving latest Cybertruck prototype around Giga Texas. It’s awesome!”

  • DAN: Take a look at $TXN and $DELL. Recall that I said last week that I was looking at those stocks, but waiting for an entry. Had I bought when I first saw them (I actually think it was Monday), I'd be down on both. Gang, this is trading. You've got to spot the stock. Stalk the stock for the best entry, and then pull the trigger at the right time. To do it any other way is poor trading. Don't buy to buy. Buy to buy it RIGHT! We'll keep tracking these stocks and I'll cover them tomorrow. (Scott is handling Strategy Session duties today). --Dan

  • bRobert: @DAN $TXN $DELL My preferred style is to own stocks I like from well defined swing lows close to support and own the breakout When I miss that entry I use the breakout as an ALERT Not a buy signal Most of the time the breakout is retested with a pullback. A+ test buyers jump in before it reenters the channel That is a lower risk entry No chop with a fake out failed breakout But you still keep an eye on it recent example $CAR Squeeze breakout close to support Pullback retest to the rising 20d STRONG bounce and breakout and a huge run I don't like chop I like tested breakouts that clearly define support and risk they tend to be much more successful trades
