  • gmj: @Cjauger $FNGU #3 a fav 3x ETF covering mag 7, currently have 2 sh to keep me watching. Been trading this consistently watching bollinger bands on 15m, hrly and daily charts. It can ride the upper band for stretches when tech is hot. Tech got hit hard on 7/11 and first red bar I'm taking profits etc. Some bounce on mag 7 caught my attention 8/30 I'll be watching to add after rate cut and as election unfolds. Been one of my best workers for me since early 2023.
  • Cjauger: $FNGU snuck up to the #3 spot at the top of my watchlist at the close.
  • bigreek42: @Cjauger $FNGU #3 does that have a lot of slippage? Lost 1/2 it's value in about a month from the high. I guess a momentum play with stop in place?
  • gmj: $FNGU a favorite spec trade 3x Mag 7, see 15m chart bb expansion ... r 50ma 424 plus
  • joelsg1: $FNGU ATH.
  • bigbartabs: $FNGS $FNGU ... 3rd day jump.
  • gmj: @Cjauger $SNOW starter pos in $SNOW this morning. It remains as a nearly 10%holding of $FNGU triple. $FNGU been a great workhorse for me since 2020. Hit a high of $500 in late 2021. Been riding the trend since the end of 2023. Current val $470 plus. I hold all other holdings in various accounts.
  • Motorman: @gmj $SNOW $FNGU thanks for info. I am not big in $Fngu. Have a little and have traded it based on what Fang is doing. I did not know snow is in it.
  • jhendeles: $FNGU my Canadian bank is at a good level for Dan and Scott? @scottrades
  • scottrades: @jhendeles $FNGU Nice base. Could be a good place for a starter and then add above 349
  • ManSim: @bigreek42 $sqqq I have some $bulz and more $fngu
  • abrewer: @DAN can you please cover $FNGU
  • rverkamp: $FNGU starter
  • oldtimer: @bigbartabs I have been watching missed the move on $FNGS . . along with all the other movers . . not sure $FNGU is actionable . . your thoughts
  • bigbartabs: @oldtimer $FNGS $FNGU ... I always use 1x ETFs to trigger buys and sells of their 3x. Knowing that the 3x ETFs are the tail that gets wagged by the 1x dog... I ignore 3x charts. If the 1x is ready for a buy or sell... that's all iti take for me to ...
  • Nepenthe: @bigbartabs $FNGS $FNGU $NDX $QQQ $TQQQ Very wise words, and from which I've mightily learned. Based on your theories, my entire portfolio has changed from many to but a few stocks, and mostly 3x's based on the 1x. As you once mentioned, if you're not beating the S&P or Nasdaq, why bother? And I realized, I wasn't. Cheers, and I hope all's well and pleasant in Shingle Springs this morning. By the way, and off topic, we were in EDH recently and I couldn't believe the growth there. It doesn't stop, and White Rock is now a freeway. Amazing!
  • bigbartabs: @Nepenthe $FNGS $FNGU $NDX $QQQ $TQQQ ... oh, my God! Folsom / El Dorado Hills is now little San Francisco. When I was 28, and bought our Shingle Springs property in 1982... you couldn't even see Folsom north of the 50 Freeway. Absolutely nothing north or south as you drove up the hill. But I guess that's the way it works... us old guys recollect the good old days... all the best buddy...
  • joelsg1: @bigbartabs $FNGS $FNGU $NDX $QQQ $TQQQ Agree. Been off $FNGU (sadly) due to those 2 Chinese components $BABA and $BIDU, riding $TQQQ with 1 or 2 week just otm cheap calls, trimmed this am for near double on Friday's $43.50s and holding $44s.
  • oldtimer: @bigbartabs $FNGS $FNGU $NDX $QQQ $TQQQ - yes . . thank you again for your insight
  • joelsg1: @champ $TQQQ #Swing-Day Playing next week's calls, actually prefer $FNGU now that the 2 China components working, but no options there.
  • Robert1965: $FNGU another breakout HOD 195.18 now 194.4 up another 5.88% any trading this besides me
  • SophAgogo: @Robert1965 $FNGU Yes !!! along with $SOXL and $LABU. I was taken to the woodshed with $LABU, lesson learned. These leveraged ETF's demand careful attention.
  • Motorman: @SophAgogo $FNGU $SOXL $LABU Yes, Been holding never quite sure when to sell. What is the unleveraged $ETF it follows, like $SOXL is to $SMH?
  • Robert1965: @Robert1965 $FNGU sold at $196.00, looking for a re-entry, took profits
  • bigbartabs: @Motorman $FNGU $SOXL $LABU $ETF $SMH ... FNGS is the 1x to FNGU... XBI is the 1x for LABU.
  • Robert1965: $FNGU is running today $180.60 near HOD up $10.00, 5.6%
  • Robert1965: $FNGU Still going new HOD 184.53 up 8%
  • Robert1965: $FNGU Up 6.4% just backing off the HOD $174.49, at $173..83
  • oldtimer: @bigbartabs $FLR $RUTAX $UNG $XLE $BOIL $XLV $CURE $ITA $DFEN $XLRE $DRN $XLI $DUSL $ERX $XLF $FAS $FNGS $FNGU $XOP $GUSH $XBI $LABU $ITB $NAIL $GDX $NUGT $XRT $RETL $SMH $SOXL $XLK $TECL $XLY $WANT $DJI $UDOW $SPX $SPXL $NDX $TQQQ $RUT $TNA thankyou for getting back to me
  • bigbartabs: @oldtimer $FNGU $XOP $GUSH $XBI $LABU $ITB $NAIL $GDX $NUGT $XRT $RETL $SMH $SOXL $XLK $TECL $XLY $WANT $DJI $UDOW $SPX $SPXL $NDX $TQQQ $RUT $TNA ... no problem. No system is perfect... but I've found that finding a process that matches up with what the majority / herd of seasoned traders stay within, is what you can depend on most. Finding that process is the key. The sad part is that it usually takes a lifetime to figure that stuff out! I've been trading for around 20 years now... and still feel like an idiot at times. Good luck... all the best...
  • bigbartabs: @oldtimer $FLR $RUTAX $UNG $XLE ... @oldtimer ... Of those pairs that I tend to track $UNG/$BOIL $XLV/$CURE, $ITA/$DFEN, $XLRE/$DRN, $XLI/$DUSL, $XLE/$ERX, $XLF/$FAS, $FNGS/$FNGU, $XOP/$GUSH, $XBI/$LABU, $ITB/$NAIL, $GDX/$NUGT, $XRT/$RETL, $SMH/$SOXL, $XLK/$TECL, $XLY/$WANT ... only $XLE $XOP are close to being above the 8dema. Also, $UNG is tough, since it doesn't correlate well with 3x $BOIL I always track the 4 index pairs... $DJI/$UDOW, $SPX/$SPXL, $NDX/$TQQQ, $RUT/$TNA... of which none are even close to the 8dema. The only one that could be worth starting a position is $DJI, that bounced off of the 200dma. All the best...
  • bigbartabs: @Docoof $SPY $QQQ $XLK $TECL ... I used to focus on $TECL for my leveraged tech ETF. However I've moved to $FNGU in the last year... since its performance is so much better. I use $FNGS for my alerts... then buy sell $FNGU. FWIW... all the best...
  • Docoof: @bigbartabs $SPY $QQQ $XLK $TECL $FNGU $FNGS Thanks. It’s worth a lot. I appreciate any and all the help I get from the forum. I actually read through years of your posts to learn how to trade the triple leveraged ETFs. But there is one point that I could not figure out: Is it your strategy to rotate in and out every day with 1/3 of the position size you’ve allotted to a 3x ETF because of settlement date (T %2B 2) type issues? I think I understand what you do, just not why you bother doing it instead of just holding when it’s working fine. I hope that makes sense.
  • bigbartabs: @Docoof $SPY $QQQ $XLK $TECL $FNGU $FNGS ... I don't necessarily limit my buys and sells to a day (in fact, rarely buy and sell the same day). Over the years I've heard many 3x traders say that you have to reset every day. I've never found that to ...
  • Docoof: @bigbartabs $SPY $QQQ $XLK $TECL $FNGU $FNGS It makes sense and thank you for responding. One of them, and I can’t remember which one, does belong in the category of, more or less, no correlation at all. But, since, after all, I’ve learned about trading these from reading so many of your posts, I do look at it the way that you expressed above. Thanks again.
  • bigbartabs: @champ $SNOW $NVDA $AMZN $MSFT $META $FNGU $GOOGL $TSLA $NFLX $AAPL $AMD $MSTR $COIN $MARA $RIOT $CLST ... we decided to take the RV south to Yosemite for a few days... to see all the surging waterfalls in the valley. What a sight. Luckily I left on Wednesday with some over sized market positions... that I see are way up from when I left. That always makes a vacation better (and cheaper :) All the best... back on Monday.
  • champ: @bigbartabs $SNOW $NVDA $AMZN $MSFT $META $FNGU $GOOGL $TSLA $NFLX $AAPL $AMD $MSTR $COIN $MARA $RIOT $CLST.....Thats #great that you Set-up before you left.....and if they are working Hold and Trail....real Nice trip, have Fun and keep your eyes on the Road, stay Safe. Take Care!
  • champ: FWIW.....$QQQ was at $382.75 and $FNGU was at $219....and it looks like everything is going to #start to take a Break....and maybe run around/zig-zag around these current high Price-levels....and the #highs could be in, as the markets build a new base....and now usual, Timings are back-in play now.....$MSFT $NVDA $AMD $AMZN....for both Entries and Exits. ....At this point for me, direction is unknown, as most all the large players are at new ATHighs and the guess is, they need to drop before they can move-up again. ....$SQQQ....I'm now starting to watch short ETF's....$TZA $DRIP/$ERY $SDS $VXX/$UVXY and others. ~~~ $TSLA $SQQQ, as of now I'm only holding these 2 spec positions, Day-trading and I'm Trailing both......basically I'm now out of the Markets for a while, I'm out of all of my swing positions, I took profits.
  • champ: $SNOW $NVDA $AMZN $MSFT $META....all had a nice Day again.....News on $SNOW, upgrade...... ....$FNGU...check-out this ETF, all 10 of their holdings were up today.....$GOOGL, even $TSLA is in this ETF, along with $NFLX $AAPL $AMD. There is a lot going on, to keep members really busy....and there are is a lot of new Millionaires being made..... .....and all we really need is a Dart-board. $MSTR $COIN $MARA $RIOT $CLST
  • Robert1965: @DAN Thoughts on $FNGU near 52 week Hi 189.09 up 6.83%
  • CalFamilyGuy: @Cjauger $FNGU I did it in Excel, but I am curious how it would perform modeled in a trading platform. I hear that TD Ameritrade's ThinkOrSwim platform can automate the trades and do the modeling with some programming effort.
  • Henry: @CalFamilyGuy $FNGU Automated trading or modeling trading strategies is TOS is way above my pay grade. Triple leveraged funds can rip your face off to the downside.
  • bigbartabs: @Henry @CalFamilyGuy ... $FNGU ... the way to play this is 2 pronged... (1) use FNGS as our trigger ticker, (2) when triggered, buy 1/3 of $FNGU of what your normal open buys are. I have been using 3x ETFs for years... and if you play your cards right, with 3x ETFs that correlate with their 1x ETFs... then you can get the same return as if using 1x ETFs... and at the same time have only 1/3 of your cash "in"... 2/3s of your cash is not exposed. Now with stock market 2 day settlements of cash... one can go as high as 2/3 of your cash in at all times (good limit) with 3x ETFs (of course would only do that if the markets are on fire, and watching closely to take profits if any stumble)... and with always having settled cash available every trading day. Hopefully all that makes sense...
  • CalFamilyGuy: @bigbartabs $FNGU Thanks for the advice. For the settled cash issue, I applied for and was granted a margin account by my broker. Now, if I sell something, I can use the proceeds immediately to buy something else. Thanks again.
  • CalFamilyGuy: Can someone check the math on my idea? I modeled it in Excel but not on a trading platform. For the last six years in a row 2018-2023, it turned $10k into over $50k, if I reset to $10k each Jan.1. I must be missing something because it seems too good to be true. $FNGU Buy if price crosses above the 5 day simple moving average Sell if price crosses below the 5 day simple moving average Remain in cash until price crosses above the 5 day SMA. Perhaps this can be done in a stock trading platform simulator? I am new here and am trying to find my ONE trading strategy. Here is my data source https://www.nasdaq.com/market-activity/etf/fngu/historical Thanks.
  • Cjauger: @CalFamilyGuy $FNGU That looks like a lot of work
  • joelsg1: @Docoof $AIQ $QQQ $QLD Never hesitate, valuable info, if only to demonstrate its underperformance. In this type of momo market, with these "Nifty" constituents, I think one should look at leveraged products which provide better return for the risk, e.eg. $TQQQ or $FNGU.
  • Docoof: @joelsg1 $AIQ $QQQ $QLD $TQQQ $FNGU Thanks for the response. There have been, since I joined in mid-late 2020, around four members who were patiently willing to teach me from the beginning. And I was a member who, more or less, simply knew nothing about any of this when I started. — Just my way of again expressing gratitude, because of how much you have benefited me.
  • joelsg1: @Docoof $AIQ $QQQ $QLD $TQQQ $FNGU Then worthwhile
  • joelsg1: @success $NVDA I used to play $FNGU as a short term daily momo play, due to the 3x leverage, but this one has the benefit of the elite tech movers without the baggage of the $SPY underperformers. A few in/out moves using my old outdated pardigm, but missed the huge move in this.
  • joelsg1: @gmj $SPY The big cap tech ones moving the most lately, so in $FNGU: $TSLA, $META, $NVDA, $AMD, $NFLX, $AAPL, $MSFT, $GOOGL and a bonus one $AMZN too.
  • joelsg1: @joelsg1 $SPY $FNGU $TSLA $META $NVDA $AMD $NFLX $AAPL $MSFT $GOOGL $AMZN NCAA basketball reference.
  • success: @scottrades . . thoughts on $FNGU . . . i have missed this but given it is holding most of the mega caps, would this be the time to nibble
  • scottrades: @success $FNGU I don't love the Weekly chart here, I'd like to see it close to support as opposed to rejected at resistance. If we get more momentum to the upside this will follow but from a new entry perspective, I'd nibble with a stop under today's low but only add if you get rewarded.
  • success: @scottrades $FNGU thank you . . from Jan 1 of this year it is up almost 300% . .
  • champ: @champ $UPRO $QLD $NAIL $LABU $FAS $TAN $GUSH...$FNGU...
  • Robert1965: $FNGU Close Yearly Hi 151.21 today near HOD 150.67, got stopped out 5/15 107.80 then the run up anyone in $FNGU
  • woodman: @Robert1965 $FNGU - Every time I see this ticker, I think someone is cursing. :-)
  • bigbartabs: @woodman $FNGU ... cursing... and most are cursing... for not buying it the 1st of May.
  • woodman: @bigbartabs $FNGU - very true. I thought the same thing.
  • Robert1965: $FNGU on rip for 4 days got stopped out at 107.27, then it took off. from 107 to 132, anyone in $FNGU
  • puttz: @Robert1965 $FNGU Got in yesterday with a very tiny position. Up 13%
  • joelsg1: $FNGU Working, short leash (meaning trailing stop to lock profit)
  • joelsg1: $FNGU 3 red bars on 10 min. and out.
  • Angdionk: $FNGU poking above small flag
  • RiccardoB: $FNGU 1/2 position. will add on break $104 on volume. vamos
  • vitoB: keep thinking the mega caps are done and I looked at $FNGU and it's just pretty much still on day one of the recent downtrend break. ...also can anyone remind me in 4-5 years when there's another golden cross in the mega caps to back the truck up
  • vitoB: @vitoB $FNGU np and feels chase-ish
  • RiccardoB: @vitoB $FNGU I started a position in march. Look the 1 and 5 year chart! what do you see? To me phase 2 attempt is shaping up. time will tell . Scaling in a position at key technicals in a long term portfolio is the way to achieve great wealth. my opinion
  • bigbartabs: $FNGU ... interesting that this is up this morning. I guess because $NDX is nearest to green of the 4 indexes. Or maybe due to $META with an upgrade?
  • vitoB: @bigbartabs $FNGU $NDX my take is the big tech downers should be the first to have shorts cover with help from $ADBE.
  • Docoof: @Craig97003 $TQQQ Also up big: $FNGU up 22.66% (np)
  • woodman: @Docoof $TQQQ $FNGU - $SOXL +25% Crazy.
  • jeff_free69: @bigbartabs $FNGU $BULZ good catch. apparently $BULZ also. these were down to anemic single digits good to keep on the watch list when the momentum turns positive...
  • bigbartabs: $FNGU ... looks like it did a 10 to 1 reverse split, Friday 10/28. I sort of noticed, when suddenly Saturday morning my holding showed the value of 1/10th of what it was just 20 hours ago.
  • joelsg1: $FNGU Daytrading bounce small, tight stop leash. And out for a dime.
  • joelsg1: $FNGU China components and most US working, in for momo, tight stop leash. Now out, 1.2% loss.
  • joelsg1: $FNGU Early a bit before, back in. And quick out.
  • joelsg1: $BULZ Out for break even. $FNGU working better as Chinese components rebound, but feels like trying to squeeze profits out of a stone, Np.
  • champ: @bigbartabs $DFEN $SOXL $TQQQ $TNA $FAS $FNGU $NAIL $UTSL $CURE $NUGT $ERX $GUSH $UDOW $SPXL .....Yes sir....and I'm watching all, however my ETF timings, in this type of market, has mostly been, leaning towards the screwed-up side, of the trades....because of these new type of timing Dance-moves, that these younger traders, have learned....... ..... they were gave computes, right after they learned how to walk and run....when they were around 6 years old or so, these people are always good, they are just great readers, on most all of these zig-zag moves.... ....so all I can say is, Holy-$hit these traders are good, when they are working with, fund mangers $$$. LOL
  • bigbartabs: @champ $DFEN $SOXL $TQQQ $TNA $FAS $FNGU $NAIL $UTSL $CURE $NUGT $ERX $GUSH $UDOW $SPXL $hit ... very true... our kids are what we used to call "rocket scientists" with computers. My son is a lead high tech guy for Pandora... and used to be a project lead with another contractor company, that built Audi's "build your car online" system... and push send. Crazy complicated.
